I really agree with u/im_always_cooking. If this is a serious boyfriend, and you're making a huge difference to yourself in terms of appearance, he should have a say in that. I have really intense feelings about this due to a personal experience I have involving female coworkers. I've always thought about getting a tattoo, but I've always been scared. Chatting one day with some female coworkers, I mentioned that I want one. They encouraged me, and boosted my tattoo want. I mentioned that I would…

You don't know me so you don't know my tone. Text can be interpreted however one wishes, and it is very rude to make an assumption about a person from text on a screen. But I guess that just shows personality. Let's just take a look around before you run around pointing fingers at people.

Judging by your previous posts and that you guys, a married couple, had to live with a roommate (I'm assuming to make ends meet because who in their right mind would want to live with a stranger for fun) it doesn't sound like where you're living is a great place to live. But you guys do you! Different things work for different people.

If the area you live in is too expensive for you? That's usually what people do.

Why not just...move?

I personally heavily disagree with that but that is my own personal opinion and I'm glad you came to a conclusion that works for you.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate that. I adore it too. 😊 I've never been so peacefully happy in a relationship before.

But she also thought about him for several days and checked up on him through his Instagram. A man she doesn't know at all. I think that's a little more than attraction and isn't healthy when you're in a relationship.

Honestly, I'm a little more old fashioned when it comes to this stuff, but I believe if you're thinking about this man for several days, checking up on him (his instagram in your case), and wished that you were single so you could be with this man...means your boyfriend might not be the right fit for you. You shouldn't wish that you were single for anyone. My boyfriend and I also live together, for about a year now, and we are both full time workers and we go to the gym and cook dinner and take …

Is that so? I must have misunderstood! Definitely not trying to hate on OP, she's still in uni so it's understandable. I guess I figured he was living at his parents' home too mostly from this: I try my best as I'm a student with no income and can't contribute financially but can with some of my time to help, plus his mother expects me to do the chores. Because why would his mother have a say in what she does and what chores she needs to do if he is living by himself? Well if I was wrong, then I…

This sounds like incredibly old school advice and I disagree wholeheartedly. While, yes, she should focus on herself more, this guy does not seem pressured whatsoever. They've been together for a year and this guy has not showed any signs of love and commitment to her. He shows signs of immaturity and childishness, especially for a 30 year old man. Yeah, I agree, don't push your SO into things but also don't just lay there. If you don't set standards for yourself then you WILL be walked all over…

It doesn't sound like you need a strong, secure base, it sounds like you need a strong, secure MAN. He's 28 and he's acting like this?? This absolutely blows my mind. He doesn't want to live with you because he would get no time alone and he wants time alone...so that means every single couple out there that lives together absolutely NEVER wants alone time...right? There's this incredible thing called communication that I think your SO hasn't heard of. Telling your partner that you would like …

I would say chill out. The more you are looking the less likely you are to find him. If you spend your time working on yourself and spending your time doing what you enjoy (if you like hiking join a hiking group, if you like ceramics find a ceramics class) you will find your right person a lot faster. Plus you're still only 24, enjoy your life. Don't rush into a family.

I agree. Admitting what you feel and telling yourself why you feel it really helps. If I need to, I do that for my boyfriend too. "im feeling really sad that you didn't text me all day, even though I know you've been super busy at work and this realistically isn't actually a big deal at all, but my emotions are being a pain" I feel like that actually ends up helping my relationship than me sitting around telling him "nothing is wrong" when obviously something is chewing at me.

Oh god I know this struggle all too well. Especially during hormonal time, I'm an absolute mess when it comes to feelings. For me at least, I find it better to say it than bottle it up. My boyfriend and I are quite compatible, so when I talk about my emotions in a calm, normal manner he doesn't get angry or excuse them. But I also follow up my emotions. For example, "hey Im really sad that you didn't text me much all day. I know you've been super busy with work and realistically it's not a big d…

I think the most complicated part about this is the roommates issue. My boyfriend and I moved in together after about 8 or 9 months of dating, and we aren't engaged or anything. We got our own place together and didn't have any roommates. We also openly talk about our future together and we are sure that we are both on the right page about what we want. In my relationship, it all kind of perfectly fell together. But it seems like you guys are not really on the right page with each other. For exa…

That’s wonderful to read. I used to use Tumblr myself when I was younger but I hated how feminist and man-hating it was. Don’t take me wrong, I’m all about the independence and strength, but I don’t believe that you have to belittle and hate the men to be independent and strong. That’s definitely something I hated about Tumblr. I myself left it a couple years ago. Congrats that you found something that matches the true you!

I can agree with this. Sometimes I don’t talk about things because I feel like they aren’t important enough to talk about. It took me a while (and sometimes I still have to work on it!) to be able to open up and talk about absolutely everything to my SO, because he does genuinely want to hear everything.

But what did YOU do? Yes your girlfriend definitely overreacted and maybe it’s a good idea if you two don’t stay together, but you failed to mention whether you were being a good significant other as well. Did you let her know what your plans were? That you were planning to go out and get hammered and come home at 2am? If my boyfriend didn’t hear a peep from me all day, and I just went out and got absolutely sloshed and got home at 2am he would very VERY worried and VERY mad at me. And I think t…

Ya know, if a man posted ANYWHERE that he wants his girlfriend to lose weight, gain muscle, etc he would get roasted and be told to break up with her because she deserves someone better and all that. So that’s EXACTLY what I’m going to tell you. First off, you’re dating a guy much younger than you are. His priorities are different than yours. He might like or not give a shit about how he looks. There is nothing you can do to “convince” or “change” him, and you shouldn’t have to. I’m all about in…

Mmm...this is good after a few dates. But I wouldn't want a guy that I just met asking me this before even asking for my phone number.

Meaning that when we're not fighting and neither of us had fucked up. Yes, "being good" is something each and every person can be, not a dog. When either of us makes a delicious meal and we say "good job dear" we're not referring to each other as a dog. And yeah, no one wants to have sex with an incredibly fugly person...obviously he wants to have sex with me when I look pretty. I hope so.

Thank you for telling me about your situation! I'm glad that everything is going well with that girl. But I'm just wondering, would you be okay with continuing a relationship with her into YEARS and never having sex? That's mostly what I'm referring to. Couples who have been dating for a LONG time and don't have sex and don't want to. I just find that so strange. But its interesting to hear other opinions on the matter!

Woman here. I HATE THESE KIND OF RELATIONSHIPS SO MUCH OH MY GOD. This shit gets me so fired up. How did this mentality that sex should ONLY be a reward/punishment tool even derive?!?! Sex should NEVER be used as such a tool! A blowjob if you get this many stars? That is such bullshit. If my boyfriend and I are in the mood for sex, I'm going to ride him to the end of time, whether the dishes are done or not.

Female engineer here. I want to add something I've been thinking about. Obviously knowing how lacking in females my field is. I believe that pushing women into any of the STEM fields at all is a bad idea. Here's why. These fields have been open for women for ages. No one said "don't you dare step foot into this field/major." No, some simply said 'hey, this field is pretty difficult' and automatically women didn't go into it. Now, these fields haven't gotten any easier. And we keep saying how wom…

Woman here. Personally, I don't think sex should be used as a 'reward/punishment' thing in a relationship. Of course, that's very difficult to do because I want to have sex with my boyfriend when he is being good or has done something good, and obviously don't want to have sex with him when he fucks up. BUT. I still don't think it should be seen and used as a reward/punishment tool, and I work towards making sure my relationship isn't like that. But I actually truly hate people who say that a re…
