I'm always quite interested in reading the discussion here around age gap relationships, because I am in one for the first time! Our situation is a little more unusual than most. We live on a very remote island in Australia with 1500 people. There is no OLD here. Two restaurants, three pubs and the majority of people are indigenous. We both arrived about the same time - I am 40 and he is 55. We both work in healthcare so we met at my work. A few days later and he approached me in the pub for a c…

My current man told me after 4 or 5 months. Though I didn’t ever have reason to doubt his feelings were heading that way, because his actions were consistent.. He knows them all very well now (I talk about my job a LOT with him) and despite the fact his boss puts restrictions on how much time we’re allocated due to $$$ etc, he always works out a way around it when I need him to come help out. That’s just one of 100 things I could mention, b…

When my emotionally abusive ex tried to worm his way back into my life (3 months after I told him not to contact me) I sent a polite yet firm email back telling him that I had reflected on our relationship, realised he was emotionally abusive, that I forgave him but also forgave myself for allowing it to happen. I promptly told him my life was going amazingly without him, that I had no room for him in my life, nor would I make any. And wished him all the best. I never heard back. I then went on …
