| 5 | 85 Percent Of Female Marine Recruits Flunking Out Of New Combat TestsSix out of seven women who tried failed. Not really much of a sample size. | /r/PussyPassDenied | 26/06/16 03:49 PM |
| 0 | Cross-post from OneY: Is it ethically reasonable for a 'father' to not sign a birth certificate until paternity is proven?White Knighting is like internet piracy: if they didn't want us to do it, they shouldn't have given it such a cool name. | /r/MensRights | 06/01/11 10:10 PM |
| 0 | Cross-post from OneY: Is it ethically reasonable for a 'father' to not sign a birth certificate until paternity is proven?I see where you're going, but I feel like you don't understand trust. The underpinnings of trust and faith are very much the same... if you're married/committed, the idea is (partially) that you have enough faith to not require these tests. That being said, I totally support paternity testing by default at hospitals. I think there should be an option to waive that right if you want, of course. Also, they shouldn't keep a database of each baby's DNA, it should be destroyed after the test is compl… | /r/MensRights | 06/01/11 10:08 PM |
| 1 | A example of how consent laws will turn everyone into rapists. Seriously, how long until a feminist claims rape because a guy touched her on the shoulder to tell her she dropped something?I could see how you'd get fucked there... but I don't understand how it relates to my above post. If you were responding to: The real issue is that we all live in a society and if you don't care for something that is totally appropriate in a societal context (social touching) you don't get to be the pitiable victim. I was meaning that is the way things should be, not necessarily the way they are. | /r/MensRights | 30/12/10 07:43 AM |
| – | A example of how consent laws will turn everyone into rapists. Seriously, how long until a feminist claims rape because a guy touched her on the shoulder to tell her she dropped something?I was going to talk about that in my previous post, but I left it out for the sake of being succinct. Essentially, you can make any normal kind of touch a creepy/inappropriate touch. Lingering too long or employing that horrific middle-finger-to-wrist stroke on a handshake is a good example. This is why it's always ok to say "stop" or "don't hug me like that" or whatever. Basically, I think it's always ok to say "don't touch me" or "stop hugging me" or the equivalent, but I don't think it's reas… | /r/MensRights | 29/12/10 07:01 PM |
| 1 | A example of how consent laws will turn everyone into rapists. Seriously, how long until a feminist claims rape because a guy touched her on the shoulder to tell her she dropped something? No, you shouldn't need to tell people that as those areas are socially taboo. There are certain types of touching that are almost universally viewed as platonic/non-sexual; asses/inner thighs are not up for grabs. Places like the arm, elbow, shoulder, or a hug are vastly more appropriate to a normal social environment. | /r/MensRights | 29/12/10 05:33 PM |
| – | A example of how consent laws will turn everyone into rapists. Seriously, how long until a feminist claims rape because a guy touched her on the shoulder to tell her she dropped something?I could see that, but going to the hospital afterwards seems unlikely/excessive. This is really not what the conversation should be about though. If this woman had a condition that caused that kind of pain, she's in the extreme minority. The real issue is that we all live in a society and if you don't care for something that is totally appropriate in a societal context (social touching) you don't get to be the pitiable victim. | /r/MensRights | 29/12/10 12:08 AM |
| – | A example of how consent laws will turn everyone into rapists. Seriously, how long until a feminist claims rape because a guy touched her on the shoulder to tell her she dropped something?Yep, that's what I was saying. With things like hugging, touching a shoulder/back/arm/elbow, etc it's the responsibility of the person who doesn't like being touched to make it known that they're not ok with it, even if that's socially awkward/difficult for them. Also, I'm not saying this doesn't exist, but what kind of medical condition makes it extremely painful for somebody to touch your back? If you have a condition that requires that you go to the hospital if somebody touches your back, the… | /r/MensRights | 28/12/10 09:58 PM |
| 2 | A example of how consent laws will turn everyone into rapists. Seriously, how long until a feminist claims rape because a guy touched her on the shoulder to tell her she dropped something?Yeah, that's pretty ridiculous. I glossed over that bit on the first read-through. | /r/MensRights | 28/12/10 09:40 PM |
| – | A example of how consent laws will turn everyone into rapists. Seriously, how long until a feminist claims rape because a guy touched her on the shoulder to tell her she dropped something? To be fair, the lynching part did say "white supremacy and patriarchy" (emphasis added). I'm not saying that consent workshop isn't totally over the top, but I don't think that, as written, it was misconstruing who was at fault. | /r/MensRights | 28/12/10 09:16 PM |
| – | A example of how consent laws will turn everyone into rapists. Seriously, how long until a feminist claims rape because a guy touched her on the shoulder to tell her she dropped something?I'm glad she doesn't equate touching somebody's back with rape. And, honestly, her example of the coworker who keeps touching her is totally valid: if you tell somebody to stop, they must stop. Socially, my friend group is very physically engaged: we hug a lot, push each other, etc. Some people aren't comfortable with it and have shared that, and I don't hug/touch them anymore. But, it's on them to share that without freaking out. Humans are social creatures and touch is a very important part of… | /r/MensRights | 28/12/10 09:07 PM |
| 1 | Husband's a nurse, and I'm pissed on his behalf. Men =/= child molesters.Yeah, I agree with this. I didn't see the sarcastic response part. Customer service-wise, I'd think she'd append the statement you mentioned with "but if a female nurse is important to you, blah blah." | /r/MensRights | 11/12/10 06:18 PM |
| – | Husband's a nurse, and I'm pissed on his behalf. Men =/= child molesters.I see where you're coming from, but hospitals put a lot of effort into "customer service" and it's not really their job to correct people's bigoted attitudes. Medical care is stressful enough without pissing off the families of patients (which ultimately makes administering care more difficult). | /r/MensRights | 11/12/10 05:30 PM |
| 3 | Husband's a nurse, and I'm pissed on his behalf. Men =/= child molesters.Though, no teacher is ever supposed to be alone with a student and I'm pretty sure the "Christian side-hug" is your only real physical touch option... it's bullshit really. I've subbed as a paraeducator and teacher at the elementary school level and when little kids like you, they often hug you. I don't think we're setting a good societal example if we say "sorry I can't hug you, Billy/Susy: people will think I'm a rapist." Your post makes me worry because I've been thinking of getting certified… | /r/MensRights | 11/12/10 05:24 PM |
| 1 | Feminists Suing Over Sports GapAbsolutely. If you ever found a school like that though, I'd bet you'd find some unhappy ladies with minimal asking. | /r/MensRights | 12/11/10 03:58 AM |
| – | Feminists Suing Over Sports GapI think it's hard to find with percentages in a case like this... I think you'd really have to look at it on a school by school basis and say "are their desires being fairly addressed?" | /r/MensRights | 12/11/10 01:13 AM |
| – | Feminists Suing Over Sports GapAm I the only one who thinks a 10% gap in participation is pretty small? At my high school, if all the guys had played sports and all but 10% of the girls had played, that would only mean 20 girls weren't playing. Of course not everybody played... I'd estimate that, at my school, that would have realistically meant five more guys than girls participated. | /r/MensRights | 11/11/10 05:15 PM |

| – | "A male gynecologist is like an auto mechanic who never owned a car."The doofy-man/strong-lady trope is just about as old as TV. Look at say... The Honeymooners or The Flintstones or The Dick van Dyke Show. It's interesting when you really look at this dynamic from both sides though... Of course it's insulting to men: they're shown as insensitive, incapable, near-useless boors. But it's also insulting to women in that despite their higher level of intellect, reasoning skills, and understanding, they're expected to be paired with mouth-breathing failures. Ultimate… | /r/MensRights | 31/10/10 11:05 PM |
| 5 | "A male gynecologist is like an auto mechanic who never owned a car."Most of my female friends claim to prefer male gynos because they (apparently) tend to be warmer and more gentle. I've heard several people say that female gynos can become so clinical that it can be off-putting. Now, I know that what she posted on her wall was a joke, but it's a silly sort of sexism in our culture that I think we need to do away with. Plus, couldn't you say the same of just about pediatricians who don't have kids or obstetrics staff who haven't given birth? It's not as if every… | /r/MensRights | 31/10/10 10:49 PM |
| – | [Crosspost] I strongly suspect my 2y/o nephew is being taught by his mother to say things like "Daddy, don't touch my pee pee", right before a custody trial. Reddit, how can we protect ourselves?Document these fears with a lawyer and find a friendly councilor who can help get to the bottom of this? The thing about this kind of behavior/training is that it has the potential to be extremely damaging to the child (in my opinion). So much of our young memories are not real memories of events, but composites based around what we're told and what we hear... this kid could grow up "remembering" abuse that never occurred. | /r/MensRights | 24/10/10 06:19 AM |
| – | The road ahead of us is just so long...Yeah, I don't mind paying for something like a movie or coffee or whatever... my point is that "it's easier not to date people who expect you to pay for them." And like I said, I think you need more of an activity for a first date rather than something involving a lot of sitting (especially something non-communicative like a movie). | /r/MensRights | 14/10/10 04:44 AM |
| – | The road ahead of us is just so long...I don't see why it's so strange to expect for your dates (especially early dates) to be dutch. Expecting equality hasn't ever been a hindrance in my life. In any case, generally by the time I'm with somebody and it's a "date," we're already in a phase where it's assumed that we're going to alternate paying or split it. I guess I tend to do things on early dates that are more fun than sitting and eating. I agree though, if you do ask somebody one a date it's not weird to offer to pay. If I've eve… | /r/MensRights | 14/10/10 04:34 AM |
| 1 | The road ahead of us is just so long...I suppose this is true... My first dates have tended to be more of the "come over and I'll make you dinner" or "let's go get a beer" kind of affair. I suppose I hadn't considered the kind of invitation that would actually require imposing the awkwardness of my paying for them. | /r/MensRights | 13/10/10 09:43 PM |
| – | The road ahead of us is just so long...It's easier not to date people who expect you to pay for them; at the end of the meal, you just say "separate checks" and if your date freaks, then you shouldn't worry about further dates. After that, you can start alternating who pays or whatever. | /r/MensRights | 13/10/10 07:21 PM |
| 13 | Last week my 22 floor office building had a fire alarm. We have fire drills every year so no one was concerned and everyone started down the stairs in an orderly way. Then we smelled smoke and heard sirens. The stairs were very packed and slow moving and many of the women started to panic...Specifically that I stabbed her in the thyroid in my haste to exit the building. | /r/MensRights | 10/10/10 02:28 AM |
| – | The cost of marriageBoth of the divorces that I've been privy to any of the the intimate working details of have involved infidelity and that has played a major role in determining the outcome. My friend who ended up with his kid essentially showed that she had been unfaithful in their home while the kids were home and showed that she had been spending money on infidelity (transportation, activities, etc). Not only was having "strangers" over for sex creating a dangerous environment for kids, but spending money on … | /r/MensRights | 17/09/10 03:40 AM |
| – | The cost of marriageI'm not going to argue that the laws aren't totally biased toward the women in the relationships, but this is a fairly ridiculous example (at least without further evidence). If he had evidence of infidelity, the odds of getting fucked to this degree three times are next to nothing. I have two high school friends who got married stupid-young (religious kids gotta have an excuse to copulate, right?), one had a kid, one didn't. Within three years, both of their wives had cheated on them and they b… | /r/MensRights | 16/09/10 05:44 PM |
