I warned police about my abusive ex who continues to harass me via them...well he’s raped somebody else (a teenage girl this time) and now I’m reliving all my trauma trying to help her get the support that I know the police and social services won’t actually give her. His mum is setting him up with his little sister’s friend (teen)...

I only date single dads for this reason and they’re still trash/look down on me for being a single mom. They want me to care for them and their child but feel threatened by mine - anticipating fighting for dominance when mine become teenage boys...

Feeling a bit low today - talking with what I thought was HVM about expectations etc. He’s done a complete 180 saying while he does want a relationship he doesn’t want a ‘classic’ relationship as he’s so busy with his life...I haven’t even bothered responding but I don’t understand why when I start to think things are going week guys pull out the ‘let’s keep it casual’ card?! I know that I am a good person with a lot to offer, but the fact I am a single mom makes them think I’m easy?!

My 7yo is autistic and has a neurodisability that affects movement/coordination. He can make a sandwich & folds his own laundry. When he’s 8 I plan to teach him how to boil an egg and use the toaster. My 5yo is neurotypical, he can clean a surface and wash dishes. To them it’s fun and they want to help out. It starts from now...there’s no excuse to not introduce basic life skills in childhood

So true, my best friend is a HVM - I now compare potential SOs to see if they can even match the basics (SPOILER: they can’t)

Thank you! This is exactly how I feel. I even suggested we could have some lockdown dates and he totally ignored it. I haven’t messaged him in a week now and have no plans to. It’s awkward as we have mutual friends who set us up, but I don’t have time for somebody that doesn’t have time for me.

Struggling with this myself - went on 3 dates with somebody I thought was HVM before the lockdown. He basically has reduced all contact to once a week (barely) after I asked him what was going to happen - we agreed to half things slowly but not this slow! He also sent me a message saying he understands if I don’t want to speak to him because he’s not available right now (he is, he isn’t working, he’s posting videos etc ok Instagram & Facebook - he just isn’t available for ME). People are saying …

Lots of “it’s not fair for you to be with someone like me” “you deserve to be happy” etc refusing you recognise my worth and see what he saw. Negating every compliment etc he gave me. Pathetic ‘sorry for existing’ behaviour. He really tried but I just wouldn’t accept that he was truly interested in me because I was insecure in myself. I was worried about other people looking down at him for picking me. He never made me feel this way or said anything it was all in my head after years of being tol…

My ex is a HVM, he is now married and I totally regret my actions at the time but I did not consider myself a HVW and pushed him away several times over a number of years. That’s something I have to live with/accept (I ended up having children with a LVM!!) but they were both experiences for me to learn from either in recognising a HVM in my future or empowering my children to be/recognise HVM in their future...

So true, I’m starting to realise that. But it’s such a struggle to fight against what’s been ingrained in me by society/family etc.

I have no intention of telling any men I know about this. I only joined reddit this last week for the sole purpose of joining this group and honestly it’s really opened my eyes to the behaviour of LVM I encountered in the past and confirms that I’m not being a cold-hearted b*tch for having standards now. Even though it means I’ve been single for the last 5 years at least I’m not miserable, putting up with LVM behaviour

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
