Honestly, reading your post, it doesn’t really feel like a real criticism at all. On the surface, you frame it as one, you talk about the book, mention a few flaws here and there, but when you actually read it, it’s clear you’re mostly just summarizing and praising the ideas. Every time you bring up a “problem,” like women liking assholes or some parts of The Art of Love being a little problematic, it’s almost like you’re apologizing for the book rather than attacking it. Everything else is this…

That makes 0 sense. Why write it here if you’re not telling people to do it? If you’re not telling people to do it, why not put in () “hey maybe don’t do this part”? Obviously you knew people were going to take this advice, hence why you posted it. You’re just purposely being obtuse.

“In this book, Ovid gives advice similar to what you would see in a modern pick-up artist manual or manosphere blog post: Dress neatly, but don’t look overstyled, compliments should be tailored to her and not sound generic, make the woman feel like she is impressing you rather than you are impressing her, be patient and not too eager, always leave her wanting more, use your emotional intelligence, be persistent because the first rejection is not final, and on and on.” See those words at the end?…

Wow. This entire post is like someone tried to turn ancient Roman self help into a 3,000 word essay about why women owe men attention, and somehow ended up glorifying stalking. First, persistence is not a strategy. Persistence in trying to convince a woman to like you after she’s said no is called sexual harassment. “No” does not mean “try harder.” No is no, every time, everywhere. That’s not negotiable, and presenting it as a challenge or a game is toxic. Second, women are not puzzles for men t…

He said in his replies it’s because he only wants sex when he’s done.

Yeah because there’s no in between. Men either act uninterested or they act like horny little dogs, imo. The second one is very off putting lol. Eta: in all seriousness, it’s because you don’t scream desperation.

This was almost good advice until you said “don’t ask her if she liked it, don’t make it seem like you care about her validation” tf. You SHOULD care about that if you care about her and yes you should ask if she liked what you were doing to her. Good lord men.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
