Yeah, but that’s not what I said.

You literally need money to pay a personal trainer and chef.

To be fair, with their status and fame comes a personal trainer, a nutritionist, likely a personal chef, a stylist, money to pay for the best hygiene and health, which go a long way in making someone attractive. Bruno Mars with a dad bod in jeans and a tshirt would be a normal guy.

Yeah, I’m sorry but personal stories aren’t a diagnosis or a statistic. I’ve met lots of fucked up people who don’t qualify for a mental disorder.

Nah, I mean I’ve definitely confided in friends about fights with my bf but they never tried to convince me to break up with him or said anything bad about him. If anything my girlfriends say too little, I remember breaking up with an ex once and my friends were all like “oh thank god, he was the worst” and I was like wut??? Turns out they didn’t like him the whole THREE YEARS we were together and none of them said anything.

I have, but for valid reasons, like the fact that he told me he had a job as a mechanical engineer and it turned out that he was one of 2 employees at a startup making artisanal bongs in the other guy’s shed 🤣 but in a respectful, “I want you to know that I’m concerned, but I trust and support you either way” kind of interaction. Never anything toxic like OP is explaining.

Yeah, I have never experienced this, and you bet if my friend group did something like this to me we wouldn’t be friends anymore.

Nah, I guess maybe if I’m away visiting my family or something, but not when I’m around.

Totally agree, I dated a lot of duds before I found him! I wish every heterosexual woman could find a man who didn’t have oodles of internalized sexism and ideas of what a woman should be, but tbh there just aren’t enough of them out there. If you don’t want to be a stereotypical trophy housewife you either have to be super selective or you have to put up with coaching a man to unlearn patriarchal standards. So even though I wouldn’t use your method, I can’t disagree with it because you have to …

That’s exactly what I mean. I wouldn’t date someone who expected me to do any of those things, so how is it fair for me to expect him to do x and y? In my current (long term) relationship, we live alongside each other and make each other happy just because we vibe well, not because we live up to each other’s demands. If I don’t shave that’s fine, if he doesn’t spoil me that’s fine too. That makes my relationship low maintenance and if you’re into something different from that and your method wor…

Oh yeah it’s totally his problem and not mine if he thinks I owe him, and if I did feel that way there wouldn’t be a second date. I guess I just don’t like the idea of establishing a relationship with the expectation that he will provide for me financially. I do want him to put in effort but more in the form of kindness/interest/chivalry, not necessarily financially. But that could just be my own desire to establish equality when really if equality is an issue in the relationship, splitting the …

Personally if a man paid for my meal, if anything I’d feel like now he thinks I’m indebted to him or I owe him something (sex). I’d rather pay for my share and have him prove himself to me by having a fun date. I agree that he should put in effort, but that effort should be to get to know me, to have an engaging conversation, etc., not to show interest with money. Tbh I find the whole expecting men to pay for dates thing to be just further misogyny, like he’s supposed to be the provider or finan…

I appreciate that. It definitely took patience and commitment on his part too, I wasn’t the easiest to deal with in the beginning.

Yeah, it sucks, not gonna lie! I mean I guess I don’t necessarily regret anything, because I didn’t know better at the time, and I do think dating is worth it. I’m glad I kept trying and seeing other people. But if I could wave a magic wand and just erase that whole relationship I would.

As someone who has been in an abusive relationship, I disagree. After that one failed I was left with a PTSD diagnosis and no hope whatsoever. Worked on myself for a few years and now I’m 3 years into a really healthy relationship and the happiest I’ve been in my life. It might be one in a million but it was worth the chance and all the shit I went through to find the right person. Honestly there’s no better feeling than a secure bond, knowing someone will be there for you no matter what, for li…

Totally feel this. Not sure I know anyone who didn’t have good relationship role models who got it right on the first few tries.

Optimistic view, I like it. Did you always feel that there was a lesson in the pain or did it take you a long time to get to that point?

Meh. Hard to say. I was in an abusive relationship for 3 years and became a much more cynical person. Also got a PTSD diagnosis out of the deal. But I learned my worth and I don’t take shit from anyone anymore, I went to therapy for 4 years and worked on my mental health, and now I’m in a healthy and happy relationship. Not sure that would have happened otherwise, but it’d be cool if I didn’t have all the baggage, you know?

That’s the thing, you’re not being logical, you’re claiming your opinions are facts when you sent one article that contains about 5% of what you’ve said. I don’t know how else to explain it to you. I’m sorry for you because it’s sad you can’t let this shit go. I just said goodbye and you still have to reply and you say “she never quits.” You can’t see your own hypocrisy and it makes you look like a sad man. I’ve got better shit to do with my day than try and wake you up.

I read and am following the sub rules. Men DO comment in feminist subs and we engage in adult discussion. I thought this sub could handle that, but if not I’ll step out.

I see now that you’re beyond reasoning with. I’ve done nothing to gaslight you, only tried to understand you even a little bit. All I understand is that I feel really sorry for you. I hope someone, somewhere, someday, has the capacity to love you. And I hope you wake up and get the help you need. And I hope that you can heal whatever deep hurt lies inside you. Cowabunga buddy 👋

I’m trying to understand how what you’re saying applies to me but not yourself. I’m butthurt and emotional when I say “You trying to be funny or just a dick” but you’re not when you retaliate with “You trying to be funny or just a cunt”? “I’m detached” “I can’t help you” “I’m a Jungian” etc. We’re having a conversation using first person language. Yet you’re calling me an insufferable child and a victim while accusing me of insulting you. Pick one.

I was just correcting you, since YOU replied to MY comment and made an assumption. And I didn’t tell him to check on her, I said she sounds mentally ill.

Once again, please enlighten me. I’m genuinely curious. Quote me. Where have I been emotional? Where have I denied anything written by Harvard?

I haven’t posted here, just commenting to try and understand MGTOW ideology. Didn’t think I was “outing” myself, it’s pretty obvious that I’m a woman if you look at my profile.

Consider that you’re the one projecting. Clearly you’re not clinically detached, and clearly you’re responding before you read what I have to say. Tell me where I acted narcissistic or even said that I didn’t like what you had to say. I am only telling you that you aren’t using facts where you claim you are - most of what you’ve said isn’t mentioned in the one article you sent. There’s a narcissist here and it’s not me.

Dude, can you read? Your comment is absolutely irrelevant to what I said.

Again, you’re referring to your anecdotal experience in observing the behaviour of half the population, not facts. The article you sent, absolutely, but antidepressants have nothing to do with narcissistic personality disorder. And there you go again guessing why women are unhappy, which again sounds like your opinion and not a fact. Though, I do agree with you that it’s time to throw out all the Freudian bullshit and start over with the field of psychology. Other than that, if you can’t back it…

As a psychologist I don’t just throw around diagnostic terms and pathologize half of the population. I don’t really care whether or not you hate women, but if you do, have reasons that make sense. Back it up with facts. Otherwise you’re the one who sounds mentally ill.

Neither - I’m a psychologist. You’re not being accurate.

Came to ask this. Sounds like mental illness to me.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
