So a win win for your dad. He had more money coming in thanks to your mom and still had the 100% free maid service at home.

Right. Women worked outside the home, especially working class women back in the 60s and the 70s but this did not bring them freedom, just more work with little pay, sprinkled with sexism and the second shift at home ofc. Nothing freeing about more work. Women never made enough money back then to be independent. Be real.

Women need a perspective shift? - You're not "taken care" of and dependent without your own money, with no work experience or status, and vulnerable in a trad marriage, .......... no no no, you're empowered. You just got see it HIS way. We women we're just not thinking right. Yikes! I see over and over men don't care that in the trad marriage women don't have direct access to money and do a lot more unpaid labour. We can talk until we're blue in the face about how most women do not want that but…

I see over and over men don't care that in the trad marriage women don't have direct access to money and do a lot more unpaid labour. We can talk until we're blue in the face about how most women do not want that but it doesn't matter because these men don't care how it affects women. According to stepbrostoppls, women need a perspective shift - You're not "taken care" of and dependent without your own money, with no work experience or status, and vulnerable in a trad marriage, .......... no no …

If the man makes a lot of money, the traditional marriage can work well. But that's not most people. Divorced women with children have a much lower standard of living than divorced men. It's even worse for traditional women. Because they haven't been working when married, after the divorce, they are usually forced to work at a low paying job and come home to the second shift.

It's obvious the traditional marriage and gender roles do not benefit women in the short run or long run. In the traditional marriage, the woman and children are supportive satellites for the man of the family.

This. These men want to control women so women will serve them. It's all about women serving men. What a lot of women are guilty of--but many men too--is not doing their bit in terms of thinking about and taking responsibility for this problem. Because women haven't done enough in the past as subservient dependent wives with no/few legal rights? Men always want women to do more.

Right. What these men want is ...... for young women to marry very young, have a few babies, stay at home providing a wonderful home for hubby to come home to, oh she can work ...sometimes but must put hubby and family first. These men just want what dad, grandpa, great grandpa had ... a compliant, subservient wife with few options and no marital rape law interfering with their sex life (what's the big deal about consent anyways, right?). Why can't you women of today be like dear old grandma? Th…

BreezyBritt89 didn't say anything personal or emotional. Her point is OP is showing he is resentful single women aren't getting into relationships when they're younger. Nothing personal or emotional here, just reiterating OP's point.

A partnership is the ideal but many men don't act that way.... probably the reason for so many divorces, divorces initiated by women, women choosing to have children without men, why women want their own money. FYI, many women don't like being an adult human being dependent on another adult to give them the resource they need to survive. Many men are intensely angry about giving their divorced wife half of the marital assets. And many men are intensely angry about paying child support (even thou…

40 hrs a week vs providing unpaid labour/being on call 24/7 daily and for years? Don't forget that women usually care for aging parents, then the husband. 40 hrs a week, staying late at work whenever I pleased and didn't have to arrange babysitting plus "helping out" ('cause it's not really my job) an hour after work sometimes or a few hours on the weekend maybe cleaning the bathroom ........ sounds heavenly and eazy peazy. I speak as a divorced single mom who worked full time for 32 years. If t…

Men shouldn't be let out in public among women. Theoretically, this would be fine AS LONG AS women's spaces were funded and supported as well as men's spaces which they are not. Women have achieved fuck all? ..... now we know how you value women.

Exactly. Men benefit from women's restrictive and unpaid labour all their lives which is disrespecting and insulting women. Men know that women with children have an extra load and it keeps most women from participating fully and freely in the workplace and reaping the benefits of fully and freely participating in the workplace. Few men choose to step up and make the work/life sacrifices for their family the way women do. It's insulting how men keep defending their lack of participation and sacr…

Only about 20-30% of jobs in most western countries are in the trades and agriculture AND most of that work is automated. But this means around 70-80% of jobs men do are NOT PHYSICAL. So physical jobs are not an issue anymore. Most men are doing the same kind of labour as women are doing at their jobs. Women work less overtime because they are doing childcare or housework which is unpaid labour. So women sacrifice paid labour and work opportunity and independence for their family. Few men make t…

Asking that question shows your privilege and your choice to be blind to women's unpaid labour - physical, emotional, mental, sexual. The epitome of privilege is not seeing your privilege. You don't see the impact of having and raising a child for years is significantly greater for women than for men? You don't see the sacrifices mothers make that fathers do not make? Your question shows how you just assume women should make sacrifices and do this unpaid labour daily and for years, and that men …

....but society also expects more responsibility from men. Men have more responsibility? Women are working and then come home and take care of the children and household. Men work .... and do a bit of childcare and housework. Women are responsible now for working AND childcare AND housework, women clearly have more responsibility and pressure. And women are expected to do this extra work and be agreeable and be available 24/7 and if we're not, we're demonized, shamed, dismissed, ignored, abused.…

Meanwhile, men desiring young thin women is not in conflict with women's liberation and freedom because they are not entitled to men's desire, and often those are things women can control (except for age). And except for sex trafficking, sexual harassment and assault, porn, domestic abuse, and rape. Yes, for many women men desiring young thin women is in conflict with a woman's liberation and freedom.

Women don't see having children as an insult. It's how men treat women who have children is insulting in relationships, at work .... the problem is men and institutions controlled by men. ...it is insulting them assuming they are too dumb to actually find a way around obstacles. Women have achieved so much in just 30-40 years. If you can't see that they'll most likely continue achieving even more after a few generations of continued adapting, learning, more doors opening, hopefully with less har…

Men's sexual desires are a product of testosterone ...... it's not their fault they're attracted to.... So they can't help themselves? They're not in control of their sexual behaviour and their testerone controls them? and their sexual urges/behaviour is not their fault? Then, maybe they shouldn't be let out in public or they shouldn't be given jobs with responsibility since their sexual behaviour isn't their fault because of their testosterone. Men invented most stuff .....because they kept wom…

Because men are not doing an equal amount of the unpaid labour to manage a house and the raise of children 24/7, nor do men sacrifice work/career opportunities/money that most women sacrifice for their family for years.

You are compensated ...... by your employer. I wasn't talking about the wife compensating you in that point but I'm glad you brought it up because a case could be made for how she compensates you. You get to have a home and children without having to spend any time or very little time caring for it or them. And for an extra bonus for the man, the woman and kids have his name even though she does all the work/makes the sacrifices to raise the kids 24/7. It's a great gig if you can get it. Sahms g…

Yes the man is compensated for his choice and continues to compensated for his choice. He makes a salary and enjoys working conditions, improved status and self-esteem which often gets better over time. He is in this situation because he had the FREEDOM to spend all his time daily and for years on his job, to work late ...... and did not have to be home caring for children and domestic duties. The sahm should be compensated for MISSING out on work opportunities/salary/status/self-esteem for year…

Exactly this. They want women at home, doing all the unpaid labour, not complaining, providing sex, being compliant, with no work opportunites, always accommodating him and never leaving. Women who don't/won't do this are bad, wrong, selfish, slutty ....

Ohhh, I see..... this subreddit is saying feminism is bad or not good and you don't want to hear facts to the contrary, you just want to hate on feminism. Ok, I should just shut up and do as I'm told - gotcha

Unfortunately, often pointing out bad behaviour of men that hurts women is seen as hating instead trying to improve the lives of women and people.

I understand how anyone would not want to be a part of hateful talk. It is a fact that over the last 30-40 years pointing out and discussing sexist behaviour have resulted in many improvements in laws and society in general in the west, and of course improvements in women's lives such as in the workplace, education, in the home.
