Just wanted to chime in...he and I are in an exclusive relationship and he calls me his girlfriend. But he is assuming wifey privileges and we are not at that level yet.

I hear you ladies loud and clear!! I appreciate your feedback and the fact you all feel so strongly about this makes me feel more confident that I need to pump the brakes. For what it's worth, haven't done any work on his house hunt (besides looking over listings and letting him know what I think), but y'all are right: not my house and not my place to be involved at this stage of the relationship. It's so easy to get caught up in the fantasy for sure.

Wow, thanks for the input and feedback y’all! Just wanted to clarify that he and I are dating exclusively and we are both interested in developing a serious relationship with each other. For what it’s worth, we are both 40 so we are aligned in terms of what we are looking for (serious partnership where both parties want and are open to having kids) and not wanting to waste each other’s time. We both have good careers and are looking to setting down roots. I’m confident that he is HV, he has been…

This. It screams “Look at me, I am an excellent caretaker and children love me! I’m assuming that you would like to have kids one day and this photo will bring you under the impression that I am ready to have a serious relationship and would like to have kids with you!”

This is SO TRUE. Which book does this passage come from? I’m in the process of vetting the guy I’m currently dating and letting him sow all the details of his stories and keeping mental note of what he’s saying, without much reaction or questioning on my part. Once I have enough details to put together a framework, I can then paint a picture of what his intentions are and make decisions from there.

This is the kind of HVM stuff I like to read on FDS..not the “Oh look who bought me flowers/jewelry/candy today!”

I think you perfectly displayed your sexual confidence by maintaining your boundaries. Good for you, Sis! ❤️

Alll of this...I called my LVM Scrote ex out on this when I broke up with him and asked him what qualities did he appreciate about me and why he wanted to be with me in the first place...all he could say was that he thought I was attractive. Couldn’t even name one other redeeming quality that he loved about me, just that I was beautiful. I told him that I felt like any warm body could’ve been me, and that he didn’t truly know or care about me. That was the nail in the coffin of our situationship…

Mostly answers about what I do for a living, my hobbies and interests...just stuff about me I tell everyone and I’m tired of typing it out to a new person! Actually, I’m wondering if the mods would be open to putting together an open source Google Doc with FDS responses to frequently received texts from men we are evaluating/vetting for relationships ...although I have a feeling that the appropriate response for the most part would either be complete silence or just plain “NO” 😂

Also, just want to add a point about trust that these advice columns add in addition to jealousy. Yes, you can trust your partner and assume innocence and no ill intent. But when there are screaming red flags, I am not going to ignore my gut and self-gaslight about my feelings. It is ok to be jealous and to own that feeling. The responsible way of dealing with it is telling your partner about those feelings and set your boundaries. If they refuse to honor your boundaries about this, then it is t…

Absolutely this. Been fucked over way too many times. I also hate any advice columns that put the onus on you to “own” your jealousy because he would be with her if he really wanted her. Nope, the onus is on him to realize that there are appropriate boundaries for opposite sex friendships and that your partner takes priority, full stop.

I’ve given up on finding quality men on OLD...like you, I feel like I’ve been answering the same roster of questions, to the point where I’m literally copy/pasting responses from a Google Doc. Even if they ask for my number or start to plan a date, I just don’t really feel excited about it because of their low effort messaging. It’s too much work putting on a high value mindset for me who won’t even recognize it, much less appreciate it.

I had a socially distanced coffee date with a guy I met on Hinge...after about a week of texting he drove over 60 miles to meet me at my favorite coffeeshop, which I thought was a really nice gesture. (But I ended up paying for my own coffee 🙄) I had a good time and I felt attracted to him...we both admitted it was a weird circumstance to have a socially distanced date. Too early to tell if this is going anywhere, but he seems to be content texting me every day about random topics but he hasn’t …

I’ve discovered new hobbies and interests! My scrote ex who I dumped taught me a lot about cars (especially Porsche’s)...since I dated him, now I know how to drive stick, how to buy a car without getting ripped off, and guess who’s going to buy herself a Porsche when the time is right?

Sooo many times I’ve heard these trifling exes say that what I want is “impossible” or “unrealistic”...I used to think there was something wrong with me for wanting what I wanted. It took me so long to understand that their inability to meet my expectations was never about me, it’s just that they can’t be bothered to put in the effort when there are pickmeisha’s orbiting them who would be more than happy to give them what he wants...and they can have him! 😂

Didn't realize there was a term for the STFU method! I've been using this whenever my ex got upset and we would get into an argument. It's difficult, but it does work...he's usually the one getting more frustrated while I remain cool as a cucumber. Question: When I do STFU, my SO says I'm being an emotionless Vulcan and stonewalling. How do I get across that I'm not emotionless, it's just that I refuse to escalate the situation by becoming hysterical and yelling back at him?
