My favourite is the "end violence against" one. Just my personal opinion, but I think you should make "Everyone" pop a bit more - make it stand out so that the word it replaces doesn't overpower it. Then, cover the entire back of the shirt with well-presented stats backing up why we should care about it, kind of like how band tour t-shirts look - logo in front, tour locations/dates all up and down the back.

It's not only just great for casual sex and the like You still have STIs to consider - keep wrapping it, if you want to avoid those. For people who're in monogamous (or otherwise trusting) relationships and can be confident that diseases aren't a concern, but who aren't at the having kids stage, then yes this is amazing news.

Sue for court costs and $1, with a pledge that if you win you'll donate $1000 of your own personal money to charity. Sure it'll cost you $1000 if you win, but your costs will be covered and there's absolutely no way anyone could pretend you were suing for the money. So then they'll pay attention to your point.

Maybe the key is to separate "trans" from "men", so like we'd say "rich man" or "poor man" instead of "richman" or "poorman". Maybe it's a stupid idea, but I get the feeling that separating the terms helps reinforce that they're definitely a man, but a man who has lived a specific experience.

Don't forget that it reminds us all that women must be taken care of by other men (those tasked with "speaking up" or "standing up" for them in the ad). We're meant to understand that they cannot take care of themselves!

Take some time in photoshop to design an identical "blue box" to the ones you see the other info in (edit: have your GF send you measurements, if possible). Then, print it in colour and on sticky-back paper. It'll be quick and easy to apply, very hard to remove, and will probably blend in almost seamlessly if you place it properly - I recommend middle bottom, right under the "public restrooms" one. Or, alternately, just use it to cover up one of the others.

One can't help but wonder if some of these women, swaying side to side and envying Tori didn't wish they were victims too, so they could commiserate and bask in the outpouring of support and victimhood. So basically, emotional bugchasing.

However it is likely moot, it is unlikely they would be found guilty, and no doubt any punishment would be light if That matters, of course, but it's not the be-all end-all. Filing charges makes things exist on paper. Their allegations are already doing this on their behalf - CPS/police/etc. are keeping documentation on all of this, and all that paperwork can be used to bite you in the ass down the road if things do get litigious. I'm not a lawyer, so consult with one of course, but my instinct …

The male equivalent of that already is considered a crime, isn't it? That is to say, lying about having a condom on in order to have sex. I've heard it argued that consent in this situation is conditional on the man wearing a condom. So, flip that, and if the woman lies and says she's on the pill but isn't, it should be considered the same. It's a breach of the conditions upon which the consent is founded. Of course, you won't hear that argued anywhere.

Thanks for your answer. As a straight, white, middle class man I'm usually told to STFU whenever I try to talk about anything even remotely related to the "oppression topics", because, as I'm told, I can't possibly have any personal experience with it. I know that women don't usually have to qualify their opinions when they discuss these things, because the other side usually assumes they have some "oppression cred". I find the idea so strange - that only one gender can possibly discuss these th…

Well said! I have what might be a weird question for you, and I hope I phrase it properly. As a gay man, do you find that when you talk about these things (MRA stuff) in real life, people might listen to you more than they might if you were a heterosexual man? (Edit: I just realized that this is presuming they know your orientation, which of course they might not...) The reason I ask is because my own personal observation has been that women who say things in support of men's rights tend to be l…

Of course, feminists would argue that it isn't the same because women aren't the ruling class, but that tired line is bullshit. You could just rebut that by saying "well, then I guess that means Afrikaners in South Africa today are completely justified in practicing racial segregation, since they're no longer the ruling class".

I was going to say "we for we", but yours is much better. I like it. Even without "HeforShe" as a base, this site should exist. We need more moderate, even-handed gender egalitarian outlets to show that people who care about men's rights can (and almost always do) also care about women's rights, as they're all really just human rights.

I totally see what you're saying here - I'm not blind to the possible ramifications. I think, though, that if you did it all quickly and thoroughly (ie. got five or six dozen of these "lists", all with different names, onto each and every telephone poll, bulletin board, bus shelter, etc. in the area overnight), the message would come across. Someone should falsely accuse her of murdering infants. Then she can ask herself "how do I see infants?", "if I didn't murder them, could I have?", "do I have the potential to do what they say I did?" Maybe then we'd put a stop to women murdering their children.

By hijacking the campaign and releasing lists containing everyone's names, you can accomplish two things: You can dramatically illustrate to complacent people that they could be targets of these witch-hunts, by making them all into "targets" of this one. You can utterly defeat the witch-hunt itself, by burying their lists in piles of lists of everyone else. This would "de-victimize" those who're being victimized by the original witch-hunt. This part requires that you ensure that your lists have …

Women know that's exactly what you do. And it makes it hard for them to work out. So what's your beef? Why not let them work out in peace? I go to lift pieces of metal. That's it. And what about women who might be judging men while they're working out? Are men immune to feeling watched and judged, or should they also be given gym time to themselves? I always felt that, women would be interested in men who had a sense of purpose, focus, and direction. This is attractive to any sane person, man or woman. I now believe that women are looking for men that they can control. There are controlling women, there are controlling men. The trick isn't to paint a whole gender as any one thing. Think how that makes us feel as men, when someone says "men are (x)". I am an emasculated male in this country (America), there is nothing for me here. I'm sorry …

Exactly - what's a whole other entirely preventable cause of death between friends, right? Taking that logic to extremes - everyone's gonna die, right? So, why don't we live it up? For instance, why are we wasting time licensing electricians? All that's gonna do is keep people from dying by electrocution or house fire...what's the point? They're all gonna die anyway, right?

Some of today’s “women against feminism” fit that mold: They feel that feminism demeans stay-at-home mothers, or that being a “true woman” means loving to cook and clean for your man. I can't agree at all with any "true woman" statement. A "true woman" is, really, anyone who chooses to identify themselves as a woman, and that can run a huge gamut. Plenty of "true women" hate cooking and/or cleaning, and that's fine. It doesn't demean their "womanhood". On the other hand, though, they have a good…

it's actually a provably true statement since there have been statements by governments (I am looking at you, England) that have stated they have home programs since they don't have enough room in their women's prisons for women actually convicted of a crime. That's definitely an issue in its own right...if we run out of prisons for men, we just stuff more into the cells, or we build new prisons. Not so much for women, it seems. I don't think the point is that this is ironclad proof that no rape occurred. I certainly wouldn't consider it enough to justify a "false accusation" charge, let alone a conviction. This is, however, more than enough to constitute "reasonable doubt", and should therefore lead to a finding of not guilty in this particular case. That's what we should be focusing on - the fact that these text messages throw serious, reasonable doubt on the whole affair. This goes back to the presumption of innocenc…

OK, conceded - you're right that he didn't overtly generalize about all women. But he is also saying that all the jails we currently have wouldn't be enough to hold all of those fitting that description. That kind of language implies that it's widespread, pervasive, and more than just a minority of women. Anglo-saxon generally refers to countries settled (and originally colonially ruled) by England. "Anglo-saxon" doesn't generally apply to Welsh, Irish, or Scottish cultures/communities, though there's some "gray area" where these were settlers in an English-controlled country (Canada, for example). I don't think it'd apply to Ireland because even though they were conquered and subjugated by the English, there wasn't really a cultural replacement. That aggression is beyond simply "misplaced"...nobody should get that aggressive about a dropped fork. It's aggression that simply should not exist. And I can ask, why is it that famous men are so rarely convicted of the rapes and abuses with which they are charged? Imagine a film where 2-3 men found out a girl was dating them all, and decided to get revenge on her by slipping her testosterone, etc. No matter how much you called it a comedy, that would not be shown anywhere, and if it did, the men would be the evil antagonists. There is definitely something that needs to be done to fix the larger issues - that men aren't taken seriously when harassed, and that men don't know how to deal with these issues because they know nobody will take the…

So there's your personal line. Congratulations, you've found it. You're offended. It doesn't really matter, though, because other peoples' lines are in completely different places, and you have to grow up and appreciate that this is a fact of life. Trying to force everyone to recalibrate their "offensive" lines so they jive with yours is pretty damned narcissistic and manipulative. You should probably just stop with that. Personally, I thought the joke was in poor taste. I wasn't offended by it,…

Unfortunately, the crazies on both sides pollute the labels. Gender Egalitarianist would probably be a better description, if you don't want to keep playing "no true scotsman" with people who've had run ins with the crazies who call themselves "feminists".

You sound like a good and reasonable parent. I didn't mean to seem like I was attacking your rules/style there - you're completely in the right to ask quiet of them while driving. I meant instead to attack the weird idea that it's OK to pull over and lecture a group of teenagers (who're not all your own children) about sensitivity and etiquette. The only time that might be OK is if they're being really crude, it's personally objectionable to you, and you can frame it as "it hurts me". Going off …

If I was a teenage boy again and a bunch of friends and I were being crude and stupid in the back of a van, and the driver just told us to keep it down or shut up or something, that'd be fine. We'd understand that we're just being too loud. I'd like to say we'd keep it down, but of course the volume always creeps up again until the next "shaddup!". Point is, though, that telling them to keep it down or to be quiet altogether is fine. If the driver pulled over, turned around and started lecturing…

If a guy is drunk, is it OK to use the money in his wallet? Reply yes or no. (Link removed) #RapeCulture #DrPhilQuestions The irony is, of course, that people use the money in inebriated peoples' wallets all the time. That's a large part of what keeps bars, food trucks, delivery restaurants, convenience stores and greasy-spoons open late at night. Drunks and stoners looking for food and drink. So yes, it's already been deemed absolutely "OK" to use the money in a drunk guy's wallet. If we're goi…

It's always the rapists fault. Yeah, but part of taking responsibility for yourself as a grownup is recognizing when and where you shouldn't get blind-drunk and pass out. I am not disputing your main point one bit - rape is never the fault of the victim, it is always the fault of the rapist. That said, though, if you're in an area where pickpocketing is extremely common, you're well advised not to get blind-drunk and pass out in a dark alley, because you'll probably have your pockets emptied by …

Well, just so we're clear here, I'm against a men-only draft. Just saying that aside from the draft, men aren't forced into the military, and if they do volunteer for the military, they're not forced into combat roles.

That only makes sense if men are forced into combat roles. They're not - at least, not outside of the draft. You can do other jobs in the military, and the majority of them are non-combatant. Would you like to see those men paid less as well, since they're non-combat? Men simply have the option of going into a combat specialty, an option denied to women until very recently.

It is the point, though. You can't just say "most combat deaths are men" without qualifying that statement with the fact that women were denied the right to serve in combat roles. There are women who would like to serve in combat roles, but who (until recently) were denied that opportunity. There are also women's groups who've come out in opposition to this policy (which contributed to the policy's scrapping). In the past, women served in non-combat roles in huge numbers - they're willing to ser…

I like the idea, but I have an issue with the "combat deaths" thing - does it really make sense to highlight this, given that until January of this year women were prohibited from serving in combat roles? Don't get me wrong, I think men's issues need to be brought up and addressed, but if combat deaths is what we're leading with, this is a dump-truck-sized hole in that argument that we just can't fill.

All of what you're saying is fine and all, though I apologize in advance for my co-subredditors who will most likely spray you with vitriol in response to your post. I don't disagree with your point, but there's one point of clarification to be made in response to this: Being feminist doesn't mean Generally, any movement (whether it's feminism, the MRA movement, whatever) will attract all sorts. For this reason, I think it's important to recognize that there are extremists who describe themselve…

see more feminist content Would your publication be amenable to helping us spearhead an effort to re-brand what you might consider feminism, in light of the fact that the term itself seems to denote an appreciation of only women's issues? Much has been made of linguistic relativity, the idea that language itself shapes our view of the world. There have been efforts made on behalf of feminism to change terminologies to a gender-neutral form in order to remedy bias - examples include changing the …

Letter I sent them on their contact page: "Thank you so much for your article about the Emma Roberts - Evan Peters "event". It's strange for me to write this, as I don't really care about these people - in fact, I don't even know who they are. What matters most to me is that you've chosen to recognize and highlight the fact that female-on-male domestic violence exists, and is (according to some studies) just as prevalent as the reverse. You have done society a tremendous service in doing so. Too…

If you look like a 19 year old college student, they might think you're there looking for somewhere to light up a joint or something. Still just as judgmental and wrong of them, but it might not be what you think it is.

"Well if you don't want to be a father, don't have sex" Exactly. Shit like this is what the crazies say when they try to ban abortion, or prevent insurance/social assistance from paying for birth control pills. Just because you're saying it about another gender doesn't mean it's any less crazy.

One thing that would greatly help is affirmative action to promote the hiring of male teachers, and finding ways to try and fix what's driving young men away from teaching (or even being around kids) - the overwhelming fear of being falsely accused of something by a kid (or a crazy parent), and being automatically hung for it. Another is the ending of "zero tolerance" bullshit that means kids can't even play-fight or throw snowballs at recess (this shit actually happens). Say what you want about…

It's not about which comes first on the page...that's irrelevant. What's relevant is the amount of information specifically linked as "for women" vs. the amount of information specifically linked as "for men". Plus the fact that the "for men" link isn't really about "men's health", it's a general health website from another country.

Sure, you've got a point, assuming I'm someone who goes out seeking things like this. The reason it bothers me is because myself and hundreds of other men were or are students at that university, and we pay just as much in student fees to support the student health center as female students do. I also found the site because I was a student, and because I went to the site looking for information. I just happened to stumble across the disparity. Every now and then I go back to see if anything's ch…
