Yeah I definitely agree with this. I've been exchanging 1,000+ word messages with the guy I've been talking to for a month and a half. Find a man who wants to listen to your rambles. Don't dismiss all men as being incapable of handling paragraphs because that's letting them get away with it

Thanks for sharing your experience! That's exactly what I'm worried about and having such a long wait period before a potential first date is only going to solidify my hopes and expectations. Even if he's a good guy in person, he might just be bored right now and not looking for anything serious. Only time will tell

From my understanding FDS says ask him, but when he asks back don't give yourself away. "Never show your hand." It immediately makes you vulnerable to his deception. And if he asks you first, chances are he's saying he wants sex and is gonna adapt to whatever you say to get that. Edit: missing -ing

This comment is super relevant to my current situation so if you wouldnt mind giving me some advice I'd reaaally appreciate it. I've started talking with a guy from Tinder and it's going incredibly well, but I don't know what he's looking for. We already moved to text so at this point me asking outright is declaring interest which I don't want to do. But I also can't necessarily judge by his actions if he can't ask me out because of quarantine...what do you suggest I do to bring this up or find …

Yeah, this might be a far stretch but his bio actually states his interests and people who are looking to hook up usually have nothing, their Snapchat, or an unoriginal one liner. They're really easy to read most of the time at my age. But it's possible he's on there without a purpose, just bored and lonely, and that's exactly how I got hurt last time. So you're completely right and I need to get a clear answer to that ASAP. Thank you

I don't know how to ask since we're already so deep in a very unrelated conversation. It's clear that he enjoys talking to me but that doesn't necessarily mean romantic interest and I usually jump to that conclusion. Thanks though, it is important to remind myself to stay in the moment rather than fixating on what could be

Update on my interesting Tinder endeavors: I found someone??????? A nerd? Who is conversing with me like a normal human? Who is interested in my life and thoughts? On Tinder?? WHAT??? Clearly I'm excited so I need someone to set me straight pls bc we haven't been talking for long at all and there are soooo many ways this can go wrong from here and I'm too invested. But we are at the point of massive consecutive texts that take awhile to write talking about really nerdy shit so it's just impossib…

I'm the saaaame way, but the "too nice" in me extends to feeling like I have to respond, too. I've learned my lesson after a somewhat jarring Tinder encounter the other day when I let myself feel pressured into talking to this LVM for no goddamn reason. A guy I talked to for two seconds asked for my snap (am in college, so it's expectable behavior) and I felt too bad saying no. I was going to ignore him after that, but he messaged me when I didn't add him back. So I added him and he snapped, and…

The amount of guys on OLD who are still tryna hook up right now is beyond me. This one guy was completely delusional to think that I'd drive 20 miles and risk getting the coronavirus to have below average sex with his crusty ass????? Also, I started talking to one guy about how we're both home since our colleges moved to online classes and he was like "Yeah but I get to see my friends so that's cool" like wow thank u for saving my time by IMMEDIATELY telling me that you're a dumbass.

If they aren't exclusive it's possible he just hasn't taken his profile down yet. So I would mention it to her, but not make a huge deal about it like implying that he's cheating/seeing other people. Just a casual "Hey, saw his profile, not sure if he's using it but I just thought you should know" would be what I'd want.

For better or worse, pheromones are huuuge for attraction. "If you're looking for the man or woman of your dreams, unsuspecting pheromones in your body scent are most likely playing a large and very clever role in mate attraction. According to an article in "Psychology Today," how our body odors are perceived as pleasant and sexy to another person is a highly selective process. We usually smell best to a person whose genetically based immunity to disease differs most from our own. This could ben…

I definitely recommend the show Lie to Me if you're interested in this! Also wanna point out that psychopaths (antisocial personality disorder) are generally capable of lying and deceiving with no tells at all because they lack a conscience and are very superficially charming and manipulative. I mean, I definitely think it's good to be aware of the things mentioned in the video, but unfortunately it does not apply to all

"You have to find someone in the same place as you are. Timing is everything. If you get into a relationship where you want something the guy doesn't want, it's never gonna work. You're never going to get him to be in that place. No matter how old you are, finding the guy who's in the same place as you are and wants to show up is the only way a relationship works, period." AMEN SIS!!!

Exactly. I've realized that I was such a good partner to people who didn't deserve it. I put so much love into my other relationship of 3.5 years and it never occurred to me that I deserved to get it back. Never again will I stay in any type of relationship where efforts aren't reciprocated.

I haven't blocked and deleted yet, I don't want him to think that I care that much. I wish I did that in the first place, but instead now we're ~friends~ and doing that would make a scene. So for now I'm just gonna ghost the hell out of him and let him fade into irrelevancy. Edit/update: realized I was being a wimp. BLOCKED AND DELETED.

If you want to read the backstory, here it is: https://www.reddit.com/r/FemaleDatingStrategy/comments/f82969/um_hard_pass/fijhqyh?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=share But in short, we only dated for about two months and I thought it was a great relationship until the end. I gave him the chance to be friends because I believed him when he said that I really mattered to him...turns out he just meant that my support and entertainment mattered to him. He didn't want the void that I filled to be e…

Progress report #1 on leveling up (aka a messy ramble about OLD): I downloaded Bumble the other day and today I deleted it and BOY was it relieving. I was between Hinge, Bumble, and Tinder. I like Hinge because it's advertised as being for relationships but doesn't seem to have caught on at my college. Tinder has a reputation for being for hookups and I didn't wanna deal with the endless pile of fuckboys. So I thought Bumble was a nice medium. But no. BUMBLE SUCKS. DO NOT USE BUMBLE. Completely …

This just gave me this weird flashback from 10th grade. I went to a club conference type thing (so I was with a bunch of kids from other schools) and I was in line for something with a friend and in front of me I CLEARLY witnessed this boy take a picture of the girl's butt in front of him. I was LIVID and naturally tapped him on the shoulder and was like "Uh yeah I just saw you do that and I want you to delete it and apologize" and he was like "What...it was of the line" and I reaaaally doubted …

Ok but it makes me so happy that instead of interpreting the "cat lady" stereotype as a negative y'all are out here defending the value that your cat(s) has added to your life When a guy doesn't like cats, it's a red flag for me. I just can't understand why when I love my cats more than I will ever love another human. Maybe they feel threatened by them lol

This. When my ex-boyfriend was sick I'd still want to see him since I only could about twice a month. I'd go to his house, risk getting sick, and cater to his needs. I'd obviously expect the same in the reverse situation, but instead I would get a "Sorry I don't want to get sick." Yes, I can take care of myself. No, I don't want to ever be dependent on a man to care for me. But it's gotta be equal effort. I won't make you soup if you won't make me soup. I'm not your mom

Okay SAME and I'll always remember it. But he not only said my nose was big but also that I look like a FERRET. Excuse me?? Sooooo guys expect us to put their whole ass dicks in our mouths after they've recently pissed but can't go down on us because it's GROSS??? What's gross? Reciprocation? Servicing someone else's sexual needs that aren't your own? If a couple mutually decides they don't like oral, then fine by me. But the expectations to receive but not give is noooot okay. But as for fingering, seriously?????? You can stick your dick in there but it's GROSS to touch it???????? I remember seeing something awhile …

WAIT WAIT wait WAit.........."not pushing for commitment." Is this what I think it means? That they weren't even officially dating?? For TWO YEARS??? Jesus.

Lol there was honestly so much more I could've said, but this dude has sucked up enough of my time and brain power. I couldn't understand the logic of what happened and it drove me insane. Like, he didn't want to make a commitment in fear of having to break it hence waiting until he could settle down, and yet started and continued a serious relationship with me that resulted in a breakup anyways??? Paradoxical. So I just have to chalk it up to him being an idiot and move on.

It's possible, I don't think he'd be capable of that but it'd probably be better if I believe that then try to understand his (lack of) reasons. The distance part was complicated though. He goes to school far away, but was living home for the semester to work which was close to my campus. So if anything, there might've been someone at school he was holding out for and I was just a placeholder. Ugh.

Oof. Too real for me. I suppose now is an appropriate time to get this one off my chest. Let me tell you a (long) story about an LVM in disguise as an HVM....... LET THIS BE A WARNING. Don't be a dumbass like me and fall in love without commitment. (Context: I'm 21 and in college, so from my experience: a date = hanging out in a bedroom and relationships move fast, but that's if you're lucky enough to find someone who wants that among all the rampant hookup behavior and STIs. So the bar is LOW.)…

I have a long list of standards, but it pretty much sums up to being a genuinely decent and stable human being who cares about me. However, red flags I absolutely need to define in writing so I can hold myself accountable for them. RED FLAGS - Things I will NOT tolerate: 1) Verbal abuse: Name calling, insults, backhanded compliments, degrading comments, etc. Towards me or anyone, really. 2) Physical abuse: NEVER hurting me intentionally, or restraining me if I've said to stop. Also towards objec…
