Meh, every lifestyle/hobby/job/activity ect. has its own lingo why should picking up girls (or guys) be different? I'm an avid mountain biker and words like stack, case, bail, all mean "i fell off my bike." Same thing when I used to skate, everything has a lingo you don't have to use it though it might help to know it otherwise you may be rather confused on forums like this...

I could be over thinking it, she was just so much more mature than girls i've been talking to recently. I'm sure most of it has to do with her being older.

I feel like being foreign, if you have an accent, should only help your cause! I understand what you mean I would certainly be intimidated in London or Paris. However the sheer volume of girls in NYC makes it easy to approach strike out on one set and there's infinite amounts to take its place.
