For sure when it comes to my career (Network Architect) i cant stress enough Rule #1 over any other. In addition to the first rule, i also follow law #9 and #30, they go hand in hand in my field it seems to me. I went from a low level tech to an architect in about 7 years. I now work 100% remote in Florida (spent the last 12 years or so in NoVA)

I remember events like this all too well. During my first deployment in 2003 i was in Tal Afar, Iraq supporting the 101st Airborne Division. I remember a few instances with those guys that the wife divorced them while they were deployed. Terrible feeling to not be able to do a goddamn thing about it. Forced to just suck it up and keep doing their job.

i got a dog and work an 8 hour shift. he is home alone all that time but i dont cage him while i am at work. yeah he is free all day to roam about the house but i feel terrible for him cause he is home alone for all that time. its not all that bad tho, my friends have keys to my house so they just go in a hangout with him whenever they want/can. been 4 years of that. but now i work from home and bought a bigger house with a backyard exclusively for my boy.
