Okay I hear you about the deeper instinctual thing but you really don’t believe it’s an issue with men at a sub conscious level? You make the point of maternal and weight gain but people can change their weight but you can’t change your height. Ever. I weight 10 pounds more than I would like and if I chose not to weight 10 pounds too much I can change that in the next month. It might be harder for some than others but women choose men subconsciously that are genetically most able to provide for …

That makes sense. You sound like a pretty decent person and well reasoned.

Oh and one last thing: I’m 6’1 and am financially secure so I have no sour grapes and axes to grind there. It was just something I experienced a couple of days ago and mentally notes that empathy had taken a hiatus with that generalization of “short man syndrome.”

That’s the problem with being a Reddit counselor /therapist. You lack the necessary context. I won’t go into the all of the attributes and flaws of my relationship as I don’t owe it to anyone. I made a statement based on a wealth of context that you don’t have.

Good thing you and I aren’t getting married huh? You have all rights to your own opinion however and I thank you for sharing it. Sometimes we learn from someone with a different perspective and sometimes it reinforces the reasons why we have the one we have.

Neither. Some liberals are and so is my fiancé. It has been my experience that the “tolerant” among us ar frequently the less tolerant in reality. I’m more conservative fiscally and moderate socially so I recognize that this is largely subjective confirmation bias on my part.

It doesn’t. It has to do with hypocrisy.

Completely tone deaf when I patiently asked her about her restrictions. I said “so it is okay if I exclude women (or whatever is your gender of choice) out of the gate based on a physical attribute?” Her: “no of course not!” Me: “got it!” Fucking liberal hypocrites. I’ve just learned to live with it and be tolerant.

Truth. My super lib fiancé straight faced defended that she would never date a short guy because...”little man syndrome” but then when I asked if it was cool for men to exclude women over a certain weight.... crickets.

I’m early 50’s and get hit on by women fairly regularly. If you dress well, stay in shape, speak well, and are interesting you will be a catch. I’m in a committed relationship so I don’t ever act on the options but I know they are there. My fiancé is a tiny bit younger than me and she’s stunningly good looking and sexy with plenty of options too. Confidence is key.

Yeah I guess I like the "what the guys do wrong" part of the article because I can learn from that. I think what's needed is a what the women did wrong part of the article and an inspection into why he became complacent. Is it because he felt like he was unappreciated by that stay at home mom for working twice as hard to make sure that security of the family was not in question? Did she ever in the beginning surprise him with being naked in bed waiting for him but no longer does those things? Do…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
