Seriously GTFO. You know absolutely nothing about how healthy someone is from their BMI alone. I don't like to call people out but this kind of thing enrages me. Misogynistic bullshit. Downvote me, I don't care.

I can see my best friend and I doing this. We'd both like to meet a guy at some point but know it may not happen. I would be more than okay with teaming up with some other amazing women, buying some land and building some houses, and living with and supporting each other.

I'm also childfree, which I feel is pretty straightforward. I'm also not sure about marriage, and I have this question, too, but for myself: What's your goal with men you let into your life? I guess marriage doesn't have to be the goal - but then what's your goal? What are you vetting men for if not marriage and parenthood? Good temporary boyfriend? FWB? I ultimately would like a long-term committed partner, if a good enough one comes along, but I'm wary of marriage. But if I'm not looking to ge…

I wish I could have read this post 10 years ago!! Especially this part: If you feel like you are coming from a healthy place and ready for a healthy relationship but a man is not meeting your needs then tell him. He has one opportunity to be a HVM after you give him this warning. Anything else is you providing him with excuses in order to avoid the truth: he is a LVM and you do not want to be alone. You are trying to convince yourself that you can make him into what you need. You cannot. He may …

I'm in a similar situation, and it's helped me to consider it this way, which I just thought of yesterday. There are 2 aspects of a person/relationship with that person that need to be right. They 1) have to have personal characteristics/traits/whatever that you respect and admire (in addition to the bare minimum of having no deal-breaking traits/habits), and 2) have to fulfill your particular relationship needs (for me, they need to make me feel safe and valued). I was with my prior partner for…

You're amazing! Do you find that older guys tend to be higher quality? Or no correlation?

Thank you for sharing! It's okay to have insecurities and I hope you don't beat yourself up about feeling insecure sometimes. At least you "know" that they're not true. That's a huge step in the right direction. feeling like a mess because I don’t have perfect hair, feet or my stomach doesn’t have abs (I’ve had children and am very fit but I keep comparing myself to IG models🙄 I deleted all that and only follow accounts intentionally, but I still feel weird and fat sometimes, maybe a slight eati…

No advice, just wanted to commiserate. I've had a similar situation (family > me, tired of it, just want to not care about him anymore). I tried to block him but I found it made me think about him more, because on my phone blocked numbers are basically just archived, and I kept wondering if he texted me (I didn't know because he was blocked). I would delete his number but I've memorized it inadvertently🤦‍♀️. I haven't texted him (it's been almost 2 weeks since he texted me "I'll talk to you in a…

I've heard this same story so many times. My mom's horrible abdominal pain was dismissed, too. Ectopic pregnancy.

I don't think either of you are totally wrong. Agree that you shouldn't paint all allopathic (or osteopathic) docs with the same brush, but also "evidence based medicine" can only take you so far. We only practice evidence-based medicine, False. So false. Sorry. A lot of "evidence" is garbage, and we do A LOT of things without evidence because we don't have any. Unless you consider "consensus or expert opinion" evidence, which I don't. Medical school teaches you almost nothing of medicine or abo…

True things, but it's also okay to be human and to not be able to immediately turn off your feelings for someone who previously meant something to you. Recognize it, ACCEPT IT, forgive yourself, then come back here and soak up the wisdom and support of other people who have been in the same place as you.

It hurt like a bitch. In a way in can be said FDS was responsible for the end of what I thought was a fairytale love with a HVM, and it was the best thing that could have happened. I get emotional in a positive way when I think of how blessed I am to have never married or had a child with this man. I love how perfectly this paragraph captures the combination of pain but also immense gratitude that comes with this realization. 👏

Only a few weeks ago. I'm lucky in that as an adult I've never been on the receiving end of the despicable male behavior I hear and read about. I've been mostly single for a while but still in contact with a guy with whom I had a tumultuous sort-of relationship for 4 years, which ended 4 years ago. I've never been 100% content single but had long since given up on OLD. And I couldn't figure out why I was still so hung up on this one guy who hardly ever reaches out to me despite how much he "love…

I was super happy to turn 30 a few years ago, and so far my 30s have been WAY BETTER than my 20s. More confident, way fewer fucks to give - so grateful for those things. Still have lots of things to learn, but now I'm actually open to learning them. Win.

I've never been married but I used to get weirdly offended whenever I was addressed as "Miss" instead of "Ms." For some reason it felt infantilizing to me. But now it's "Dr." so problem solved (jk, I still get called Ms or Miss... 🙄).

I have a male friend who literally never cleans crumbs off the table at my house. Even when I hand him a towel, I still have to clean up after him. My mom says "all men are like that." Fucking no.
