i’ll probably get downvoted for this, but the ideal is that they coexist. i’ve seen highly emotional responses do so much damage to situations. and highly rational responses are just devoid of any empathy. both in extremes are bad, but they are on opposite sides of the spectrum.

I think a lot of it is talking to someone who can help you understand the importance of setting boundaries, how to set boundaries, etc. They need to be able to help change your perspective on how you view relationships and yourself. Finding a therapist who can speak on both the scientific aspect of psychology as well as how to approach social situations was really helpful for me. i feel like it’s not that he wasn’t interested or felt a spark at all. i truly think there’s something about the physical act of sex that literally diminishes the spark right away whether it was there or not before especially if the topic of relationship was made clear. the only way i’ve ever heard of one night stands or casual sex working is when women go into with the intention of using men and never calling them back. then men are more receptive.
