Imagine a track and field arena. A race is about to start and one participant - a man - is standing at the starting line. The second participant is a woman, but she is standing 20 meters behind the starting line. She is unsure if she is allowed to participate, if she is wanted here, she doubts herself and also knows that historically women always stood behind. She also has good reasons to suspect that the judge and the other participant is hostile to her. So the organizers of the event come and …

There is a world outside US. In fact, most of the world is outside of US and Northern Europe and isn't nearly as progressive. And even in US there are women outside of (white) (upper) middle class. But I know it's hard to take that into account. Women get scholarships and extra support because they are disadvantaged. They are supposed to compete against men, but men have a huge headstart and all kinds of speed boosts. If there is a STEM program simply open for everyone, women are unlikely to par…

Only a tiny minority of women see nothing wrong with selling their bodies. For the rest of us it is humiliating and inconceivable. As if it is easy and not at all traumatizing to let a disgusting stranger oogle you or touch you. As if there are no dangers and health risks involved in prostitution. As if women aren't horribly abused in the porn industry. So almost all of us have to work like everyone else, and compared to men get fewer opportunities, smaller salaries and no promotions while also …

6 feet tall (183 cm) and always wear 8-9 cm heels. I think my height is a huge advantage. It scares away all the insecure guys who want to "dominate" their girlfriends. It also helps my bosses treat me seriously. I dont look like a child, I don't look weak, so it is harder for men to diminish me and look down on me. It really helps because I am very introverted and don't always know how to defend myself. I don't know whether I would be approached much more often if I was shorter. There are alway…

All the people you mentioned were not fighting for their women. Women and their safety had basically nothing to do with conquests.

You can laugh all you want, doesn't make it less true. If you think extreme misogyny and discrimination disappeared from Afgan society the moment Taliban were kicked out of Kabul, you are delusional. Majority of women didn't have the opportunity to join the army in Afgan. The few who did had to withstand insane critisim and pressure from everyone around them. It is also a huge risk to enter a male-dominated space in a country where men despise you. And yes, many Afgan women wouldn't even conside…

This is why: https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/05/magazine/afghanistan-women-security-forces.html Afgan women weren't free the past 20 years. Many of them were still trapped in their homes, others faced insane pressure and contempt when trying to shape their own lives. Women in uniform - more than others. The article explains it in detail.

"doesn't know what he's fighting for" Exactly my point. I expressed a belief in my country based on what I know about it's culture. I bet no Afgan woman would express such confidence in Afgan men several months ago.

Oh, I've never denied that Russia is sponsoring Taliban now. In fact, I am so sick of this country supporting the worst people, that I emigrated two years ago. But it doesn't change my belief that most Russian men would fight for their daughter's rights to death even in a civil conflict. Maybe my opinion of men is too high. But I agree with OP that men would never fight hard for women who are invisible in public life or who are considered "lesser humans". When women are equal to men, then men ar…

What does Soviet-Afgan war has to do with my argument? Do you realise that before the war Afganistan had a pro-soviet government that empowered and educated women, but then USA started sponsoring islamist groups to destabilize the region and that's what made USSR invade, and what consequently led to Taliban rule? https://youtu.be/GxcTYefNVhg

It's mind-boggling that there are people who disagree with you. The men will always fight harder for women who are as visible and active in public life as they are. (Women who feel powerful will also fight for themselves and their men, which should benefit all.) You will never fight hard for a creature that is less than human to you.

You do realize that Taliban already ruled this country and you don't have to "imagine" what their ideology prescribes and what they are capable of? Afgan men already saw their mothers and sisters treated like slaves, confined to their homes, denied education and income, raped and stoned to death by Taliban. Those same people with the same ideology are knocking on your door and your first thought is "well, who knows what they are going to do to my daughter, let's just welcome them and see!". Dude…

They had 20 years - I repeat - 20 years to prepare themselves for a fight. They knew how women were treated during the Taliban rule so they should have been very motivated to prepare if they cared. They had all kinds of assistance from westerners - money, equipment, knowledge - to form a full-functioning army. They massively outnumbered Taliban forces. Instead they pretended to work for 20 years, collected their paychecks for nothing and surrendered immediately. I am sorry, I can't imagine that …

Why does everyone just assume they would lose? First of all, they had two decades to prepare themselves to fight for their women. They had all kinds of assistance, yet they didnt. They just received paychecks and learned nothing. Still Afgan army was much bigger than Taliban forces. If they were willing to put up a fight, they could. History knows countless examples of how even small forces were able to withstand and defeat oppenents much stronger, much more well-equiped and well-trained than th…

This is such bullshit. There were plenty of women who worked for the government and helped USA forces, worked as journalists, educators, who simply got high education, etc. All these women are in grave danger. And please don't diminish threats that women who weren't even involved face today. As OP said, all women are about to become slaves, erased from public life, possibly raped and/or sold to men they don't know. If you think this is a fate better than death, I'll assure you that for many wome…

The only reason hot Russian women would even talk to him is because they want to go to USA and get a visa there. Noone would want to date/marry a judgemental sexist prick (does he think women here are idiots with no self-esteem?) He hates US women who seemingly approach him because of money, yet he wants an eastern bride who will definitely see him as a bag of money and a ticket to a better life. She will dump him the first chance she gets - and not because thats how all women are, but because t…

He didn't want to stay a virgin. I bet if young girls suddenly started hitting on him in college, he would gladly have had sex with all of them. Now he is just playing the "virtuous" card because that's all he has.

I find it interesting how you don't even say that men do care for women's issues and don't always hijack the conversation. You just point the finger back at women and accuse them of the same. Both men like you and women you describe can go to hell, thankfully you and your horrible views of the world aren't all there is.

The last sentence - exactly. For me the line is crossed when people start calling other people inherently less capable and say they don't deserve equal rights. I think FDS users come really close to crossing that line sometimes, but don't. They demand too much from men, but that also means they view them as inherently capable and strong. Some Incel/red pill communities openly defend pedophilia, rape and subjugation of women, I've never seen anything remotely close to that on FDS.

If this bothers you, then you are one of those "not-perfect" people who have a hard time, right? Then why do you complain that perfect people are taken - they are out of your league anyway?

You see women enact stereotypes that plagued the culture for hundreds of years and still plague our society today, and you conclude that this must be biological? My mother was raised by her mother to be a submissive baby-making maid to her husband, and it ruined her life, and yet despite attempting to cut her wrists from being so unfulfilled, she still tried to raise me that way as well. It took me years to discover and accept my natural inclination to compete and lead, and be independent, becau…

Well, no, we dont have sex every day all the time! As I said, it varies from week to week. But yeah, I've always thought that it was normal to have at least a couple of fucks in a row if you are having sex that day. TV shows, books and Reddit comments have taught me that even 4+ in a row are nothing special for a love-making session lol. But my husband rarely wanted two in a row even when we just started dating and he was a fit 21-year old. (I doubt that its my fault because, well, I was always …

After 10 years of being together we sometimes have weeks when we have sex every day and then can go a month without sex, depending on what is going on in our lives. Absence of sex doesn't mean we aren't attracted to each other because we constantly touch, hug, kiss, can't keep our hands off each other. The love is much stronger than when we had our "honeymoon", it is overwhelming. And every physical interaction is much more comfortable, because we know what the other one likes. That said, my hus…

Out of like 10 female friends I had in high school only 1 married a guy "better" than her, others settled for guys much uglier, poorer and less educated than them. And even that one time a woman married a guy prettier and much more successful than her it was clear that the guy had extremely low self-esteem and settled the first chance he got (or maybe he had a chubby fetish). It surprised everyone, because it's so rare to see a man "settle". By the way the moment they got married, the guy stoppe…

Ah yes, as a "beautiful" woman I enjoyed such privelege of being sexually assaulted multiple times in public transport, almost raped when I was 10, harassed and pressured to have sex by two higher-ups at different times in my life until I quit, not to mention being constantly cat-called in the streets. I really enjoy being unable to have normal friendships with men because noone wants to be just friends with me, and also being unable to have normal friendships with women because they see me as a…

You sound like you think only women string men along and give mixed signals. I know that the common sentiment in this sub is that men have noone to date and aren't choosy and other bullshit, but in reality all my female friends constantly puzzle over their dates behavior. It's often hard to understand whether a man is really interested, and many men keep women guessing while "trying out" others through dating apps. I know at least two cases when my female friends were abruptly dumped and ghosted…

I am not a hypocrite, just a person who is educated enough to know the history of women and the struggles we still face today. Women have making life more convenient for men at their own expense, basically as servants in their own homes, deprived of basic human rights, for thousands of years. For women in many countries it is still the reality. So I think it's about time for us to focus on our own needs and struggles, and demand change for us specifically, without immediately making concessions …

The delusion in this post is incredible. If you really really believe what you are saying, read the book "Invisible women" by Criado-Perez and then ask yourself if your beliefs still hold. Go on, I dare you. Of course you won't do it, you don't care about the truth, you'll never challenge your own opinions because you desperately want to be the victim.

It does matter. Women are threatened by men, men are threatened by men. Agressors, rapists and murderers are predominantly male. You are your own enemy. Don't diminish women's struggles and demand for safety by dragging us into your internal affairs.

Women do have it worse. Only delusional bitter men think otherwise. You think the number of women who are willing to drug and rape a man is even slightly comparable to the number of men who would do that to a woman? Most women struggle to achieve orgasms even when having sex with their loved ones. How many women you think are nimphos able to climax after a couple of thrusts from a drugged date? Add to that that every sex is a risk of pregnancy that a woman will have to deal with after a "bad" (o…

"Harassing messages". Dude. The "sorting of bad vegetables" for a woman is constantly risking being assaulted, drugged, raped, ripped of all human dignity and left traumatized. That's a reality for all women. It takes one animal to make you a shell of a human for life. Men aren't facing nearly the same threats. And yes, I'd definitely prefer having few options if it somehow guaranteed my safety.

Thank you everyone for your responses. I can't reply to every comment, but you gave me a lot to think about. Now I see that the problem is not that I don't know the right argument, but that I feel vulnerable when I shouldn't. And I need to learn how to shut the unwanted discussions down. Thanks.

Thanks. Your example response is very well-worded. I will start responding like that when the topic of my lecture are girl gamers in particular. I thought maybe I should find some new argument for why women's issues require special attention, argument that more people would understand, but yeah, I guess it's better to just find a way to shut down these provocations right away. I'm still not sure how to do it in many circumstances, but I'll think about it.
