I don’t believe there’s another story in the entire Old Testament that punishes a person for one small, seemingly innocent mistake. I know there are other examples. The one that immediately came to mind was when David ordered the ark brought back to Jerusalem and they did not do it in the proscribed way. Then the ark started to tip off the cart and one of the escorts reached up to steady it and was struck dead. You can find the story in 2 Samuel 6.

When I was researching this I came across three states that have a legal marriage covenant option that works much the way Marriage 1.0 did. The down side is that it is fairly easy to just run off to another state to get out of it. It looks like it might be possible to do it with a marriage contract(not a lawyer) but it may only help with financial risk like a prenup.

No it won't but it is included in the first letter to the Corinthians and made it into the canon. However when the Holy Spirit convicts her through the word it can really help her take a realistic look at her own smv.

Though I haven't done this with my wife of 30 years. This was pretty much the content of our premarital counseling. And from time to time I do need to take my wife back to the scriptures and correct the misinterpretations that are so prevalent in the church today. Dalrock is a great help with this and has helped me see things I have missed in handling the word correctly.

Never thought of it in terms of attraction. But this sort of thing seems to have caught on in some part because of it's use by the fictional alpha in fifty shades. It is a way of getting explicit consent.

When the husband (man) is submitting to God the way the Bible tells him to, his wife (woman) will naturally follow. I have heard this so many times in the church and it makes my blood boil. There is this thing called the sin nature. You can argue that A godly husband makes it easier for a godly woman to submit but "naturally follow" is folly,

Good point about having more of the critical thinking questions. I have never written a Bible study course so my goal was to get feedback about if this type of lesson would work for a men's Bible studies. It just seems like there is not enough untainted material out there for those who are new to study.
