this case is really sad and disgusting. these people will never be rehabilitated. they are clearly mentally retarded/insane. not only is it a waste of time and money to lock them up in high security facilities, but it is detrimental for people who actually do have a chance at rehabilitation to be in close confinement with retarded insane people. It's particularly galling that the mother only received 90 days, especially since she's it seems likely to me that she will continue to have children.

no, you should just be killed. people in modern society are incredibly terrified of being killed so it is a deterrent, and the logistics of either paying obscene amounts of money to keep someone like that in a cage forever or worse keep them in a cage for a really long time and then releasing them into society as a destitute pariah are just insane. the 5 year sentence would only apply to people whose crimes aren't sadistically evil and who have a chance of rehabilitation and benefitting society.
