2	How is child support calculated in Texas Unless there’s a good reason your eldest cannot be in your exes care they will not modify the custody order solely based on the wants of the child (which is fucking bananas considering they go on about how they’re looking out for the child best interest). Unfortunately custody gets tricky when kids get older because they have preferences and wants and needs and none of that matters if either parent wants to be a dick. 3	How is child support calculated in Texas I agreed to 50/50 my lawyer told me at mediation that the judge would most likely calculate based on the differences of our income. We settled on a set amount during mediation Come to find out by asking around some friends receiving and sending child support and other lawyers that they don’t consider income of the CP at all and it’s a flat 20% of the NCP regardless of overnight and time spent.
