That’s the real her. The version you dated and married was a mask she wore long enough to “secure the bag”.

Visit animal shelters and get the old dog or cat that nobody wants, but behaves well. Having another life to look after, and one that will appreciate it, can be a big help.

You have some learning to do in this area. Reality doesn’t require your approval, and it’s not “sexist”. While there exceptions to nearly every rule, the statement is true. Doesn’t make them lesser beings, it’s a design feature.

Good outcome from legal proceedings, well done and best wishes! Best recommendation I have: Marcus Aurelius writings on Stoicism, followed by Gatekeeper by Shawn T. Smith.

How would the King treat a visitor in his castle? Respectful, cordial, but keenly observant. Get the guy a drink, treat him like an invited guest, don’t be overly friendly but don’t wall him off. A buddy of mine set the gold standard for this and it worked well, as the guy had nothing to do with causing his divorce. Referred to his ex-wife’s guy as his “Husband In Law” when introducing him to people.

Advice: look up “Pick Me Dance” and do not do it. Look up “Grey Rock” and definitely do this. It sounds like her friends are giving her bad advice. This is a common theme, especially when the friends are divorced or otherwise single. And do not take her back when reality hits her.

This will sound like a shallow reply, but it’s a proven fact. You have to take your focus off her, and apply it to yourself and your kids. She is nothing more than trash taking itself out. Start with the basics to get yourself on track. Hydration, meals even if you have to force them down. Exercise hard…gym if possible, pushups and whatnot if necessary. These will give you a clear mind to make the right decisions. No alcohol or drugs, period. Only makes things worse.

In my experience you insure the car, not the driver. You declare the driver(s) in your policy application and the insurer calculates the risk in setting your premium. In this case, mom should be adding the child to her policy for any vehicle(s) she owns & insures which the child will drive. Just my experience, you’re doing the right thing by getting input from the insurance co.

Your post title is based on faulty logic. “It’s our fault” is a blanket statement that clearly doesn’t fit reality. Are there cases where the guy slacked off and became a dead weight liability? Absolutely. Is this true for all cases of walk away wives? No. Assign yourself blame all you want, and in your case you may be right. Learn from it and be a man. But don’t spread the blame to all men via “our fault” claims. A divorce attorney in my family has described plenty of cases where the wife got t…

Reading your post history, it’s clear that you got burned hard in your marriage after she took a job with a group of harpy losers. See also: crabs in a bucket. They tore her down daily until she bought into their defective mindset. That’s not your fault. Internalizing blame for that outcome is unhealthy. There are financial benefits in this scenario, sharing the costs of housing and utilities. There is risk of a jerk causing problems: drinking your beer and not replacing, eating your food, being noisy, etc. I’d have to be under extreme financial stress to do this.
