Be who you are but be healthy in the process... Healthy body and mind! Go to a day spa and get a good back massage. It fulfills my need for human contact quite well through periods of being single. Gifts in general have been bad in my experience. I will occasionally pay for dinner if the woman shows genuine interest beyond friendship, but rewarding a woman just for agreeing to a date or just for being there is a sign of desperation and it's almost always percieved as corny or as a sign of expectations to the women I usually date, even if they're down to earth, it's just too old school for women of today. If you're married to her though, the rules change of course.
