This reminded me of the novel Paradais by Fernanda Melchor. I highly recommend her work.

If only the FDS website had a ‘name and shame’ section for these LVM.

We need an app for this watch list. They can post nudes freely on the internet but we can’t post their messages on an online database? That filters by Dating site? This must already exist, right?

I agree with this so much. It’s why I feel safe that I made the right decision. For as long as I am provided for I will remain in my marriage. This space reminds me that I have value and that I have a right to pursue peace and joy.

I couldn’t agree more with these points. As I think back to my earlier relationships, the potential MIL relationship should be a green flag to look for. When I dated the 2nd LVM in my early 20s, he had red flags and his mother had red flags. I’m happy to say that the last man I dated, I married. And his mother was just the right amount involved in our lives. One time I told her, if there’s is anything more harder to find than a HVM, is finding a HVMIL. One that respects your boundaries as an aut…

Right. They probably think they’re being creative. Lol.

Oh dear, if I only had the time and desire to fully roast the woke Scrote I dated in undergrad. He was cheap. Porn sick. Alcoholic, which made him age like 20yrs in a span of 5yrs. Short. Cheater. Arrogant. I can go on and on. But I just get disgusted. Oh and he got kicked out of grad school cause he was so pathetic.

There’s something about the way posting works here on Reddit that seems more appealing than the website, at least for me. I think the only way I would go to the website, is if FDS was not on Reddit. I don’t use Reddit for anything else anymore other than reading FDS posts.

Low on Vitamin D too, I think. Always rainy and cloudy for most of the year. The uptick in wild fires will only exacerbate their anxiety as well.

Sounds like he may not be the one, if you feel that he would be resistant to being better. Also remember that with FDS, you need to have your standards and boundaries set, if he violates them, you simply need to dump him. Don’t even bother trying to ‘change’ him.

I absolutely loved this post. I cringe at how I use to stroke the male ego. I’m married and still this advice is so fundamental to making sure my marriage benefits ME, because it definitely benefits my partner in many ways. The focus on what they do for YOU cannot be overstated.

And the thing is if he doesn’t want to work, that’s fine. But he shouldn’t expect a HVW to be by his side. That would be delusional.

This made me think about a Netflix documentary called The Three Deaths of Maricela Escobedo. I highly recommend it. It’s about a mother who fought to make sure her daughters killer faced justice, but ends up being murdered in front of the state capital.

When I was a teen I was responsible for taking my younger siblings to dental appointments. The office manager, hired me as her office assistant. She taught me how to drive, helped me apply to multiple universities, took me to campus visits and so much more. She even introduced me to radical feminists of color. In grad school I had several female friends who would share funding opportunities and we proofread each other’s applications. We were all fully funded by the time we reached our PhD progra…

I grew up with several male siblings and guess who was responsible for cleaning up after them? I grew to resent my parents and in particular my mom, she worked outside the home to help sustain her large catholic family. I discussed this resentment with her when she had my youngest male sibling. I told her to not raise another imbecile of a male. I told her to raise him like she raised her daughters. And guess what? My lil bro is a HVM in the making. He does really good in school. Does all his la…

Yeah and apparently in China they went from only one child, to two children, to now very desperately “allowing” families to have three children. But guess what? There aren’t many women interested in marrying LVM much less having children with them. There are entire generation waking up and “lying flat” as in, not getting up to work and just getting by with the least amount of effort.

Right?! You’d think in an advanced society with access to BC women would have more options. But again not all women have control over their own bodies because of interventions from government or religious institutions. And it’s interesting to read about the low birth rates due to economic and environmental factors.

I say as the eldest I was forced to raise my siblings, as a former teacher I helped raise several generations of children. Now it’s my time to be taken care of by my HVM. You’re welcome.

I was in a very similar position as you. Pursuing a PhD, not dating anyone HV, thinking I wanted children. When I stopped preoccupying myself on the future I met my HVM. He didn’t want children and I was more than ok with that, I just assumed I had to have children at a certain age, which was a major source of my anxiety. We’re married and happily child free. Just focus on yourself and your education for now, I know it’s hard to do. But you are already doing the hardest thing, getting a PhD.

She only has herself and her LV husband to blame. But, if I were her (which I’ve designed my life to never become), I’d only do my own laundry and let the children including her man child figure it out for themselves.

Yeah, antinatalism seems to be so misconstrued when in fact it’s one of the most empathetic and compassionate philosophies to try to make sense of our predicament.

I wish my parents had this foresight as it’s clear that anyone alive in the next 20 yrs will be impacted by the climate catastrophe. Many people are experiencing it now as we speak.

During my time as a teacher I tried to normalize that not having children was an option.

Yes! And not to mention that siblings should not be caretakers of their siblings. I’m the oldest of several children. And happily childfree. Time to care and nurture myself.

I would distance myself from her. I personally don’t share anything personal with anyone I work with. And anything I do share I just assume it will be shared with others in my presence or not.

Ew. So gross. I have cameras and large side windows next to my front door. Due to Covid, whenever anyone knocked on my door I’d speak to them from the window. I will continue to do that.

Exactly. And it’s never too late to leave a NVM. I would encourage the mom to just walk away and find her happiness and peace with or without a man.

I would also love to hear a Roast a Scrote at the beginning of every episode and a Queen Shit Storytime at the end.

I think this would be a great topic for a podcast, and that can be pinned for easy access? Going over the terminology and explaining the origins would be helpful too. I would also love a Roast a Scrote at the beginning of every episode and a Queen Shit Story Time at the end.

I have to agree with this. Although, I’m not single the advice on FDS has provided me with the confidence and assertiveness to ask for what I want, need and expect from my partner. I look forward to an episode about how to continue to be active in influencing my relationship to benefit me, now and always.
