You can read about the relationship between SRS and CreepyPMs here. I'm personally not entirely convinced that there are any widespread attempts to control the direction of the dialogue on Reddit by MRAs or feminists, but that may be only because I've mostly only been involved in Reddit's factions as an individual user rather than spearheading a movement myself. Also, our subreddit welcomes submissions from both men and women, regardless of orientation, and the submissions archived in our Field …

My comments were in response to him saying "I feel however that we should be able to have an open discussion about this."

This is due to the reasoning in the link I provided regarding our sub not being a discussion sub. In addition, our policy on meta posts is that we ask for people to run them by us before posting. We also try to keep the content of the subreddit topical. (ie: submissions of PMs themselves)

What I meant to convey was that I didn't feel it would be worthwhile to elaborate on why I disagreed because he wasn't looking for opposing viewpoints or an open discussion. Trying to argue my viewpoint in a subreddit where most of the posters are predisposed to disagree with me would result in me getting dogpiled. Additionally, I'm not sure I have the time, energy, or interest to engage in a debate with even one person who feels the way he does, let alone a subreddit full of them.

CreepyPMs isn't really a discussion sub either, and the subscribers would be more likely to share my mindset than his. A direct PM or a subreddit like /r/changemyview that's more akin to a neutral ground would be better.

The point isn't to archive creepy PMs somewhere. It's just to laugh at manipulative, inconsiderate, and inappropriate behavior, educate people on identifying it, and support people who've been on the receiving end of it. The women who submit to creepyPM's do so, because they deep down like the idea that the guys who PM them desire them, because it gives them a feeling of power. To submit the creepyPM thus becomes a form of bragging. I feel however that we should be able to have an open discussio…

Some are just private messages from guys on dating sites, who get upset when the woman doesn't seem to be interested. You think it's normal to get mad at someone because they're not interested in you? Yikes. This brings us back to the "Creepy PM". For a single girl, or even a girl in a (lackluster) relationship, harassment from boys raises conflicting feelings. On the one hand, there is a genuine feeling of harassment. On the other hand however, there is an experience of validation. Citation nee…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
