I'll be honest, I've gotten a lot closer to the center after meeting my partner. It's not like he hasn't changed or at least questioned some of his beliefs after meeting me, though. Are you sure the women you met didn't just get a different perspective from talking intimately with you as opposed to just blindly parroting your views? It's pretty common for people to absorb some of their partner's tendencies, especially if you've been together for a long time.

To be fair, women do compete in the olympics already and win gold medals for actual sports like gymnastics, swimming, and sprinting so it's not like they need an excuse to compete. Also, who doesn't like Netflix? If you don't mind me asking, what are your hobbies?

Really? I see that with guys quite a bit, though, to be fair. I know guys who play pool, go shooting (and wear camo for no good reason except they think it makes them look tactical) because they want to impress others. By contrast, I know women who are into trivia, movies, or history and don't gain any brownie points in their social circle by enjoying those hobbies. There's nothing wrong with competition but as the user I responded to earlier said, it's not the only reason to get into something …

I have to disagree with you there. If 'fitness' can be a hobby so can make-up. Sure, you could just go for a jog or do stretches to avoid injury and maintain a healthy heart from day to day OR you could find new sports or routines to actively sculpt your body. Likewise, I just wear a bit of eyeliner or kohl each day to make it look like I tried but some people definitely elevate make-up to an art. They put a lot of though and effort into what they buy and different ways to dress their face up so…

Okay, so it sounds like the girls you dated had some hobbies they just dipped their feet into but didn't really pursue further. I could come up with as many examples of women in my family and friend circle that have also mastered their hobbies. Example 1: My cousin loves to sing and basically taught herself from a young age and now sounds amazing. Example 2: My close childhood friend got into dance and now does it for a living. Maybe these people who 'master' their hobbies are the exception and …

That's interesting because in our circle at least, camping and hiking tend to be big ones and they're almost always with other people. Same with gaming. You do them on your own but then you geek out about them with other people, no?

Okay, I'll bite. First, I have a couple of questions: A) What is 'actual traveling'? and B) do you really think women on average don't like any of the stuff in the list under Men's magazines? I know tons of women who like hiking, cooking, reading, drawing, gaming, and martial arts and I'm having a hard time believing you've never come into contact with similar women. If I had to guess why there's such a stark difference between men and women's magazines at a glance, I'd say there's more money to…

Indeed. Some guy at the London school of economics and political science even wrote a fanfic about it. http://www.uky.edu/AS/PoliSci/Peffley/pdf/Kanazawa%2009%20JOP_Evolutionary%20Psychological%20Foundations%20of%20Civil%20Wars.pdf I'm not sure this is really helping your case. The author of that paper even says, "One alternative explanation for the empirical results supported above is that.. the direction of causation is reverse: Warlike societies suffer from a shortage of men and thus allow po…

Fair enough. This just makes conversation pricklier, though, because you'll find that the wisdom of the crowd varies from crowd to crowd. I don't want to split hairs further because I have to admit that the majority of decisions I make are not based on studies but on the latter source of knowledge. On that note, I've been perusing the sidebar and I'm not sure what to think. Is it meant to argue and refute opposing points of view or introduce people to The Red Pill so they can then debate some of…

But the "I wish that wasn't true, therefore I demand a new higher level of citation" response is silly, and a way of cutting off conversation. I understand that it's an annoying impasse to reach in a conversation but I think, sometimes, it's the only way of debating with someone who completely disagrees with you. Again, I'm not saying that the study isn't corroborated by other people's research. It's just that if we're not even going to try to cite sources and evaluate them, everything becomes b…

I love how people that hear things they wish weren't true suddenly become sociology grad students, picking at citation and methodology. As opposed to swallowing certain claims (no pun intended) without questioning them? Consider that we hear myths every day, whether it's related to health and dieting or neuroscience. If you're not questioning citations, methodology, and credibility, then I don't see how you can make a valid argument. I agree that there are some "big swings" and differences that …

Maybe not all rape is about power. I would say that the ambiguously consensual drunken hookup really shouldn't happen if at least one person is not too drunk to realize that consent is ambiguous. I agree that the current laws determining how a rapist is convicted in college can be unfairly skewed in favor of the woman or the accuser, even in the absence of any real evidence of rape. I think the answer would be to make consent something that is easier to interpret for everyone. It seems cheesy bu…

if you go by the way women talk and act, and how they have spoken and acted throughout history. I'm not sure what you mean by this. In fact, even having read the sidebar and the blog post about Briffault's Law, I haven't found anything that proves that women are just not altruistic or honorable. Again, not screaming "NAWALT" but maybe mumbling it. As for the acronym, itself, condensing the point some people make against generalizations about women (that go beyond the broadly biological) doesn't …

This is...well, not a binary thing, anyway. Note the link on the sidebar: "Women, the most responsible teenager in the house." I think you're wrong to dismiss the vaccine analogy out of hand. I like having someone call me out on my BS. There's a spectrum here. Irresponsible child vs. completely independent adult is too binary a classification. That's understandable but the note in the sidebar suggests otherwise. The article claims that women as a whole are more childish without the caveat that p…

To be fair, I'm sure there are some women who would honor him, such as those in his family, his neighborhood, and anyone who has been in or knows someone in military service. I'm not sure what you mean when you say there is no respect for honor. I'm not shouting "NAWALT" but outside some biological and neurological differences, is there really that much of a difference in the ways that women conceive of the notion of honor? This is not a rhetorical question.

That's just it, though. Women are not children and you're not their parents so the children and vaccines analogy is not pertinent, here. As for taxes, and traffic tickets, these are all the prices you pay for government services and protection (e.g. firefighters, the police, etc.) Except for paying alimony, none of those analogies really captures what's wrong with the "r" word, as Son-of-Man put it. Dominating someone for the sake of feeling powerful really doesn't help anyone. I understand that…

That would violate the Civil Rights Act of 1964 Employers aren't allowed to be racially discriminatory when hiring. Affirmative action is also incentivized, not required by law. I realize this is off-topic but I thought that deserved a response.

I agree that Abercrombie & Fitch should cater to whomever they want to cater to, being a privately-owned business. However, there seems to be some rationalization going on at your end, too. There are companies that used to cater to men and women, then decided to go only women, and rubbed our faces in it. Granted, you did say that men don't care and take their business elsewhere but then: No, no no. It's perfectly fine to exclude men. WOmen need a safe space and shouldn't pay extra for it. I'm no…

Because as soon as we change ourselves, bam, we become undesirable >to them. Why do you say that? As far as I can tell, "changing" or not disparaging someone for being promiscuous is neither here nor there on the TRP, as you just mentioned. You're still allowed to like what you like and women don't get shamed for dressing a certain way or being fat.

This makes more sense to me. When I said that they weren't mutually exclusive, I meant that most people probably exhibit instances of both behavior. Thanks for the clarification, though.

I guess so. Most of the gender-based subreddits take me time to wrap my mind around. I'm always up for lurking.

This is true but the support groups don't exist, on the same scale, for men. Yet, you still find that the US has a higher rate of obesity. Peer pressure can play a positive role. However, if you're really going to lose weight just because of peer pressure, you're susceptible to leaving a lot up to what other people think and say you should do. Would you recommend the same motivation to guys trying to get in shape on /r/TheRedPill? Also, as I said earlier, setting the bar as high as models or peo…

Fair enough. I'm not trying to ignore relevant information. I just didn't read through all of it. If you see a number of books and links posted on the sidebar, though, are you going to read all of them before you even post on a subreddit? I got through the glossary and intro, which seems like the obvious place to look, and didn't find the full definition until I looked at one of the links.

Honestly, none of it infuriates me. I suppose it's just perplexing. Why bother with "alpha", though, when you could just say "jock"? I wouldn't waltz into a discussion on Starcraft strategy and start saying, >"Hey guys, what the hell is up with this 'zerg rushing'? I think it's silly." I actually only read the definition of an "alpha" at one of the Good Links. Not complaining. It's just that I'm new here and I am admitting it. However, an individual can posses a mix of alpha/beta traits. Agreed.…

I skimmed it... mea culpa. It's not treated like a spectrum, not the same way, at least, that the political left-right spectrum is. The term "beta", as far as I can tell, is used exclusively to describe men who are "validating" or simply not very desirable. No one says, "I'm a moderate but I lean beta" I get that a lot of people on this subreddit think that women, in general, are hypocrites who don't actually want (to fuck) supportive or validating guys. However, it's not really that cut and dry…

No, I did not. Had a gander at it. It's not bad reading, I suppose. The Alpha-Beta dichotomy still seems unhelpful. As a friend put it, it's just too... dichotomous. Most people aren't exactly one or the other. As johnnybigoode said: The whole 'game', 'alpha', 'beta', and the behavior of 'let's fuck what we can', the lack of faith in a relationship and among other things are just ridiculous. This whole thing, for me, seems like a bunch of college grads things to legitimize their superficiality.<

Why the references to alphas vs. betas? There's a lot of explanation in terms of evolution and biology as to why gender roles are the way they are. I've just never thought of anyone as an alpha (unless he's actually a canine). Also, I've heard the term "hamster" used to refer to women on this subreddit. Why?

Not so sure. It can't be that women in the West are just immune to fat shaming. They're just as susceptible. Guilt-tripping and shaming can only do so much, though.

If vanity and trendiness worked that well, more people would be thinner. It's also the reason a lot of people are unmotivated. If you set the bar as high as they do on MindTheGap 1.0, people are likely to just choose being fat. It makes way more sense to just motivate people by showing them what's healthy. It's something you have to choose for yourself.

That's strange because I do not think that men should be disposable but that last sentence sums up some of my views on sexism perfectly. It's the reason I don't really subscribe to the notion of "patriarchy". It's a male-dominated world, but I don't think everything works out to privilege men over women. But you're obviously an MRA, which is why I find it strange that our views converge.
