add another one to the list: if a woman dies of unnatural death within 7 years of marriage, husband is automatically assumed to be guilty unless proven otherwise i.e. guilty unless proven innocent!

should not be turned away or aggressively interrogated or cross examined. ... make sense if there is some prima-facie evidence. The police need to be careful because once a rape case is registered against the man (women cannot be accused of rape in India), then regardless of whether he is convicted or not, he remains a sex offender in the eye of society.

If you are accused of rape your life is ruined whether court finds you guilty or not This !

I think this scenario is less common in the U.S. You mean though less common, this scenario still happens in the U.S. I thought cops there would outright dismiss it and would not even register a complaint.

Some eye-opening highlights: Cases of non-consensual sex (rape) are only four out of the 104. (Edit: That's less than 4% !!) It is guidelines of Supreme Court that direct the police to consider the version of woman filing complaint

Now there's a new problem of men getting lynched by mob on a mere rape accusation.

countries where women are treated horribly treat men horribly as well exactly. Though the latter is never picked up by MSM. I'm open to the possibility that the men have it much worse exactly. My submitted links contain enough sources.

Besides Scandinavian nations? You mean Scandinavian nations are safe grounds for marriage, for men? Why so?

I was quoting a feminist rhetoric (".. but rapes are so under-reported in India" ) and then providing a counter. a video I found atleast halfway decent The video is fullway decent :-) . Videos like these give me hope for real (not feminists' version) gender equality in India.

Here's a counter to ".. but rapes are so under-reported in India" : You are forgetting an important statistic here: the number of unreported false rape cases - situations where a false rape case is not registered because the alleged 'rapist' agrees to the extortion demands of the alleged 'victim' to avoid ruining his life.

exactly the problem many Indian men are facing. Sometimes, female cops directly tell the guy "If you don't marry the 'victim', we will have to register a rape case against you"

Many people know that Canada is one of the more Feminized nations; but it isn't as far-gone as India. India is one of the most matriarchal women pandering anti-male country in the world. Once glance at the way laws are worded here, and you'll realize.

This declaration just goes to show prevalent is the problem of false rape cases in the country. More than half the rape cases are fake according to statistics in various states.

I can provide multiple sources which corroborate the fact in this post. Here is one in another state of India, published by the country's most read newspaper: http://epaperbeta.timesofindia.com/Article.aspx?eid=31807&articlexml=Rape-cases-up-25-CM-says-figures-inflated-07082014001061 The lady quoted in the article is the chief minister of a state. You need to know that definition of rape in India is much wider. If a boy breaks up with his gf and refuses to marry her, he can be charged with rape.
/r/MensRights09/01/15 04:37 PM

I think my answer still applies... How convenient, right? Are you aware of the cultural context of rape in India? There is an epidemic of rape cases where a girl in a relationship accuses her bf of rape if he refuses to marry her. This has been seconded by the chief minister of an Indian state, who is a woman.

Right. But the title has been modified by OP. I thought you have read the article. (which says ~53% rape cases are false)

great! I've seen around 40 videos on the gww channel. Have you ever thought about doing a video on misandry in non-western cultures? Especially in India, calling the laws as draconian would be an understatement.

Isn't having sex with a woman consensually and then not marrying her counted as rape in India? Yes. The Supreme Court of India has affirmed this. Something like that used to be true in the USA too about 100 years ago Hmm. So I hope after 100 years, it stops in India too.

Both are distant relatives and were into a relationship for over a year. When Vinod refused to marry her, she rushed to the police As lame as it gets. So while people scream about rape being under-reported in India, there is another side to the story : over-reporting of rape. There are hundreds of instances every month of marry-me-or-else-I'll-cry-rape.

The new rape law is ridiculous. It is totally anti male. Now a woman can claim rape even after 10 years of a consensual sex. The burden is on the man to prove that he is innocent. I don't understand how stupid can the lawmakers be ?

Below paragraphs explain how draconian the recently formulated rape law is in India: First it expands the definition of 'rape' to include penetration by any object, to any extent. The latter part of this definition makes it impossible for the defendant to adduce medical evidence of the absence of penetration in his defence, for 'any extent' could be one mm or even less. This is reinforced by the absence of a prescribed time limit for reporting a sexual assault. After such a long period, medical …

For reference, here is a partial list of gender biased Indian laws Domestic violence (DV act):only woman can be the victim and man can be the perpetrator Rape: only woman can be the victim and man can be the perpetrator. This law is being increasingly misused after the Delhi gang rape incident. Refusal to marry after having consensual sex is termed as rape. Remember that Indian laws make it very difficult for a man to obtain contested divorce, so the decision for suicide is "somewhat" understandable. I see where it is coming from. Recently a report was published by National Crime Records Bureau stating that a married man commits suicide every 8 minutes due to marital problems (like these)

A few, like the one on the bus, are genuine cases. Rest are doubtful - India has seen a spurt of false rape cases since that incident. The media here is highly anti-male, shaming the men even before court verdict. Hundreds of rape (and other gender crimes) accused have been let off after the girls confess that they cooked up the story to settle scores. And then you have rape for breaking promise of marriage. http://www.indianexpress.com/news/woman-falsely-accuses-man-of-rape-held/1178919/ http:/…

Enumerating the differences between will and consent, the court ruled that a man receiving consent to sexual relations under false pretext does not amount to legal or valid consent and saving him from being accused and punished for rape. Even if the woman is assumed to be a willing participant in their physical union, the fact that the man had no intention of marrying her would make it an instance where consent was given under a misconception, nullifying the efficacy of approval. from: http://in…
