The M&M thing was put into the notes for the venue to make sure they were following set up procedures for equipment correctly. Loads of venues back in the 60s and 70s had terrible safety records. This way if the band arrived and the M&Ms weren’t separated they knew to check the stage to make sure it wasn’t going to collapse and they weren’t getting electrocuted that night because the venue hadn’t read the notes.
