Someone else made that comment and I agree. I jumped ahead with assuming the claim is true in my comment. You're right, it may all be a bunch of horseshit. You may have seen that there is a little text bubble in the video where it says that the girl supposedly claimed that they held a gun to her head, but she didn't have sex willingly. Again we don't know what's true here and I should have caveated that rather than just taking it at face-value.

You say "that's the problem with..." What's that "that's"? Can you spell out out for me what the problem is? Are you perhaps concerned about people being so fixated on scientific evidence that they miss the obvious? I'd say you have to be careful in either direction. Scientism can make you miss the bigger picture, while NOT critically checking your intuition with facts can lead to all sorts of other issues.

Of course you're right (nice sarcasm btw!). In many ways it's similar to handling the reverse situation, aka "honest" accusations of sexual abuse / attempted rape. Very difficult to prove too, yet there are great efforts being made to measure/estimate those incidences as accurately as possible.

Well put. And then sometimes there are these scary situations where someone thinks they are genuinely remembering something in a certain way, when what actually happened was quite different. I've experienced this myself, and I was lost for words and felt super powerless. Luckily it was relatively minor and we solved the issue in the end, but that experience really stuck with me.

Yes, I actually do because it's easy to have an intuition about something and be wrong. i.e. it feels like the world is less safe today but when you look at the figures it's much more safe than 20 years ago.

I wonder if there are accurate, unbiased statistics reflecting how often things like this happens (women trying to frame men for rape/violence and vice versa). I think I remember hearing that it's extremely rare, but I can't help but feel that this isn't all that rare really.
