The Gender Pay Gap is a fashionable mythAfter controlling for several relevant factors (though some were left out, as we shall see), they found that the wage gap narrowed to only 6.6 cents. How much of that is attributable to discrimination? As AAUW spokesperson Lisa Maatz candidly said in an NPR interview, "We are still trying to figure that out." I think until we examine it honestly using things like the actual facts above I don't think we ever stand a chance of addressing it. Honestly in this way the 20-30% disparity rhetoric is ac… | /r/MensRights | 22/12/15 02:43 AM
The Gender Pay Gap is a fashionable mythBut the counter argument is that women don't choose those jobs or working conditions and they have to take years off of work to take care of children, it is not a choice. I am doubtful of it not being a choice. And statistically women earn about 6% less per child they have across a number of fields. Almost like many are prioritizing their family over higher income or something. | /r/MensRights | 22/12/15 02:35 AM

Forbes: The Gender Pay Gap Is The Result Of Being A Parent, Not Discriminationblah blah blah paid maternity leave blah blah blah Which is a bit of red herring in my opinion. In Canada you have almost a year of paid maternity leave, yet you see the same wage patterns. It's that many don't want to admit that women are choosing time with their families over higher wages and advancement in a competitive job market. When you actually compare men and women with similar education, skills and years of experience the wage gap narrows to about 6%. Until there is a frank and honest … | /r/MensRights | 09/10/15 12:35 AM

First female soldiers to graduate from Army Ranger SchoolThe Americans were so bad they were killing and wounding Canadians. I was never scared of being killed by the Taliban but I was scared of being killed by Americans. When we got attacked their default setting was to shoot at farmers with machine guns and goat herders with mortars. If anything the blatant incompetence of the Americans was doing more to contribute to the insurgency than years of Taliban efforts. | /r/MensRights | 18/08/15 09:59 PM

First female soldiers to graduate from Army Ranger SchoolHi. Canadian army combat arms soldier here. We've had women in the combat arms for decades now. We've lost 3 of them in Combat in Afghanistan one artillery forward observer, one armoured recce soldier and one medic. We've had female infantry soldiers from private all the way to Company Commander. I've been to war with both men and women. Never had a problem with any women I went overseas with. They were competent and well trained just like the men. Otherwise they wouldn't have been there. If the… | /r/MensRights | 18/08/15 08:16 AM
What the idea of rape culture has created. (cross post)this definition of rape may provide an answer: “Penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim.” | /r/MensRights | 12/07/15 02:13 AM
What the idea of rape culture has created. (cross post)It seems to convey the message that sex is an act where the male is the acting party and the female is the acted upon party who must approve the act. In reality sex in such situations has at least three situations. One where the male is the acting party(presumably what the poster covers?), one where the female is the acting party and one where both are equally participating or acting upon one another and consent is more or less implied. This is due to how the FBI defines rape: “Penetration, no m… | /r/MensRights | 12/07/15 02:10 AM

| 4 | Equal pay? In Australia, there is pressure to allow companies to pay women MORE than men (in the exact same job) without facing discrimination lawsuits. The only grounds for getting paid more will be having a vagina!Well I stand corrected. | -5 | Equal pay? In Australia, there is pressure to allow companies to pay women MORE than men (in the exact same job) without facing discrimination lawsuits. The only grounds for getting paid more will be having a vagina! That title isn't exactly what the article is saying. Australia has up to 1 years of parental leave, with the possibility of a second year as well. http://www.bubhub.com.au/hubbub-blog/maternity-leave-entitlements-in-australia-parental-leave/ So if a couple has 3 children and the wife stays home for 6 years while the husband keeps working, when they retire, she will have had 6 years less to pay into a pension.
