I think it has been disproven that the difference in years in the workforce is due to having children. Because women with more children put in more years and hours than women with fewer children or no children. The difference is mostly due to economic privilege. Women enter the workforce in their 40's and retire in there 50's, or sometimes, never enter the workforce at all. But it's due to men providing for them, not due to having children.
