I grew up in a multi-generational home (parents lived with my mom's parents) and it was still full of abuse & misogyny. My mom's dad and my mom's husband were both asshole narcissists. Just want to give this example that it's not certain that life is better with extended family. Any family can be toxic no matter its size. If the family of origin isn't too great, consider raising your kids in a mom co-op. Or really ask yourself if children are what you truly want, or if you are just being pressur…

The purpose of these laws was to prevent identity thieves from wiretapping and stealing peoples' banking info. Protecting cheaters and abusers was just a side effect. In practice, if you record abuse or someone making threats against you, the courts usually let that slide since you weren't making the recording for nefarious purposes.

No state is filling up prisons with people who recorded a phone call. The punishment is at best a small fine. If it helps the police or social agency to take your case seriously, then do it. Your life is worth more than a few hundred bucks. "Illegally recorded" just means it won't be used in a courtroom.

You know what bugs me about these types of articles is that they never acknowledge that a lot of college associates (2-year) degrees are just trade degrees for women. Degrees such as dental hygiene, or x-ray technician, or medical coding. A lot of the degrees are purely for a specific job in which there is not much career advancement, i.e. trades. I think we should demand that the Texas government pay $300,000 to every woman who wanted an abortion, but couldn't get one because they didn't realize they were pregnant in time or couldn't find a provider. They push us to lower our standards because a relationship with a woman is almost always good for a man, but it's not good for the woman. Yes, we need to adopt the concept of uterine morality here. If you want the best life for your hypothetical children, then you would give them a good, healthy, high value father & mother. And your situation should be good as well, with stability and adequate resources (both money AND time). If we can't provide all that, the moral thing to do is to not reproduce. Women should never be shamed for not having kids, or for limiting the number they have. Trust women to do what is best for their family…

It's more than laziness when men don't initiate or message first. I think it's actually immoral. Because men are only risking rejection when they interact with women, but women are risking violence and maybe death.
