OYS#36 July 28 Me - 43 years old, 5 foot 7, 194.6 lbs 12% navy method Her 48 together 13 years, married 7, one child Missed reporting last week. No real excuse, though I told myself I was too busy with fixing stuff around the house, doing various errands and visiting an assortment of relatives. Physical Got in 2 BJJ sessions last week after being cleared to roll again. Did more than I should have and paid for it. Ended up needing to down numerous advil just to fall asleep by 3am the one night. N…

OYS#35 July 14 Me - 43 years old, 5 foot 7, 200.1. lbs 12% navy method Her 48 together 13 years, married 7, one child Physical Had first couple days back in the gym this weekend. In order to not be crippled for BJJ, kept a few reps in reserve and limited volume. Strength was down, but could be a lot worse I guess. Attended two BJJ sessions, managed some light rolling, but avoided anything serious due to surgery recovery. Followup appointment with surgeon is this week, and will inquire about goin…

OYS#34 July 7 Me - 43 years old, 5 foot 7, 194.3 lbs 12% navy method Her 48 together 13 years, married 7, one child Past week was a case of underestimating the time involved to do work around the house. Worked with the wife to repaint nearly every room in the house, taking the week off work to do so, followed by a long drive to visit family over the weekend. 12+ hour days didn’t leave much time or energy to workout, write or smash. Most mornings woke up sore and tired. Got in a couple of decent …

OYS#33 June 30 Me - 43 years old, 5 foot 7, 192.6 lbs 12% navy method Her 48 together 13 years, married 7, one child age 6 Physical First half of week got in a couple of the Kettlebell complexes I have been doing, 5 sets of a 100 swings plus another exercise. 100 rep complexes broken down into 4 sets with another exercise in between. Got in 1 BJJ session last week, and pushed myself hard. Got in a workout there using the weights they had available, and got in a light leg workout. 225 for four se…

OYS#32 June 23 Me - 43 years old, 5 foot 7, 190.6 lbs 12% navy method Her 48 together 13 years, married 7, one child age 6 Physical Still doing the Kettlebell workouts, involving 500 kb swings a day, done in 100 rep complexes with another exercise done for 6 total reps, based on 3-5 rep max. Only got in 3 workouts over the first half of last week, as house renovations took over the last half. Lots of piddly crap that used up most of the day and left me exhausted and sore, particularly in my hand…

Workouts are 500 kb swings a day, done in 100 rep complexes with another exercise done for 6 total reps, based on 3-5 rep max. Goal this week is to shorten the rest periods, to no more than 2 minutes between 2 complexes. Gym may be reopening within the next 30 days, but not confirmed yet First few …

OYS#30 June 9 Me - 43 years old, 5 foot 7, 188.8 lbs 12% navy method Her 48 together 13 years, married 7, one child age 6 Physical No workouts last week, at least as I would describe it. As of tomorrow, I will be clear to begin workouts, though I wouldn’t say I am 100% recovered from my surgery. Went for a walk with a weight vest on this morning, and there was the odd little movement that wasn’t quite right. My intention is to resume my 500 rep/day kettlebell plus assistance movements tomorrow, …

OYS#29 June 2 Me - 43 years old, 5 foot 7, 193.4 lbs 12.5% navy method Her 48 together 13 years, married 7, one child age 6 Had my surgery last week, which although relatively minor, still took a lot out of me. Interesting in that although there wasn't much pain, there was quite a bit of fatigue, brain fog and discomfort. First few days were mostly in bed, the days after that have been pretty light activity and trying not to nod off while trying to put work in. A bit of a write off overall, but …

It was based on a Dan John article, and while i like a lot of his stuff, I wouldn't say I follow him. He has a certain fitness area, that I would say I am adjacent to. Strength and power has been more important than the "strength" cardio aspect for me, whereas I believe it is the opposite for him. I use a roughly 53lb (homemade using plumbing supplies, plates and hockey tape) bell at 10, 15, 25 and 50 reps for one "set", 500 reps a day, which is what he put as a baseline for his program. I have …

I've tried to get my kid to workout a few times, and he just isn't interested yet. Forcing it usually just digs his heels in. He does like to play fight, which we do. That said, my concern with my kid is all the 2-3 hour chunks during the day I can't get step away from work. When I am not working it isn't a problem. I actually do make plans for my day, and have for a long time. It is generally activity focused rather than outcome though. That has been a conscious decision, as I often found I cho…

I was first asked if I am on steroids in grade 3, so yes, I am a bit of a muscled freak. My menopausal sister probably has more muscle than over half the posters here. I know the scale is inaccurate, but so is navy method, as it assumes muscular development and fat distribution will not vary from person to person for different body parts. I have thick obliques and a big ass and legs. Except for Dexa, they all can be innaccurate depending on how well you fit that methods development population. I…

To clarify, 225 is very, very light for me. The week before I was doing 365 for sets of 5. I backed off this week, doing very deep, slow sets, due to my sore knee and to address tightness in hips. Agreed that scale is not accurate, as shifting my foot position has altered it by almost a percent in the past. As far as accuracy, they can vary wildly from each other depending on the formulas used and the persons bodyfat storage pattern. That said, I have been at 6.9% measured via dexa scan, and 8% …

I agree, it wasn't, but what it did at that time was make me act different. What happened over a few months was that I put my own spin on it, separate and fairly different from my friend. It still wasn't true frame, but it was a lot closer to it than how I was then, and probably am now. I am going back to the basics and working on what I want my frame to be.

I think I understand what you mean. I didn't think of it as more opportunity to have leverage, as my focus was on what my behaviour and responses would be, gauging where my weak spots lay. Maybe I am misunderstanding leverage. I get that it was still trying to effect a change in her behaviour, and is weak. One of my fuckups early on was attemtping to do things through "communication". To clarify the first point, I had made a note immediately after that I hadn't felt bad at all. It was a spur of the moment thought after I decided not to push past on whether I made the right decision. If I understand correctly, the problem is that I am in her frame by even second guessing myself? With regards to the schedule, I do see how I am in her frame, but am a little confused about the covert contract. You are correct that I am not consistent in doing it every day. Aside from kino, the flirting and innuendo etc. has been spotty. I allowed myself to get discouraged by her prior negative responses. Sometimes it was an excuse (headache, time of month, tired), and sometimes it was a "I don't want to have sex tonight", all before an actual initiation had even taken place. I came to a similar conclusion this past week myself regarding timelines and fixing my own mental shit. In a previous map I focused on the x months timeline, and had set myself a date to blow it up if my sex life didnt improve. It had the added drawback of subconsciously focus on ticking off boxes so I could feel I was on schedule, rather than actually fixing some of my underlying issues. I didn't fix my shit and ended up letting my map fall apart. Good work man!

She responded poorly to the more caveman initiations in a previous MAP. Things like grabbing her or picking her up and kissing her, or telling her to do something were received quite negatively. Yeah, my history is different from yours, shitty in different ways. I suspect my wife doesnt always know what she is doing based on how she gets at times, other times she knows. In your case I think it is important for you to focus on you improving, regardless of whether your wife acts better or not. I empathize with you, and get the same feelings. I dont think the reasons why matter too much this early on, only our response in each situation. If I am understanding you correctly, no. I have been working out since 16, with only a couple years off since then. I started with 135 feeling like it was going to crush my spine. Read all of them at various points over the past few years, some prior to being aware of the red pill. Ultimately I failed to properly internalize or habitualize a lot of these concepts despite knowing them on an intellectual level. Revisiting them again now as recommended in the book. I don't, and wouldnt take the title literally. I think it's a marketing hook to engage men in need who may otherwise be put off the concept. It matches the tone on here and outlines the concept of dread, and leavi…

It's listed under the video section "saving a low sex marriage book and class" In some ways it's like on offline version of the side bar and main posts.

It is really strange. Both you and hornsofapathy described it correctly, and while intellectually I understood (or at least thought I did) the concepts I somehow still did the wrong things. It strikes me as similar to a concept I read about in one of David Snarch's books where he described intelligent people having situation specific blind spots. In those instances these people would be completely unaware of their or another's dysfunctional behaviour that was obvious to anyone else. I'm not sure…

Thank you for the extensive feedback, I really appreciate it. I cant disagree with anything you said. It has been a few years since I read any of Athol Kay's books. For some reason I thought they were maybe a little more purple pill than some of the other books recommended here. Maybe that is just remembered incorrectly or a misunderstanding. I will give them another look.

OYS #6 Me 5 '7' 187 lbs, 10.8% bf via scale 42 years old Wife 47, together 12 married 6, one child 5 years old Overall, I am taking a step back this week to work on fundamentals. Based on some feedback on the last OYS, my performance this week, and my dissatisfaction with my stated mission, I want to feel sure that I have the basics down. I have restarted BPP's book (How to Save a Low Sex Marriage) from the beginning, and am following it to the letter this time around. I had already read many of…

You are correct about my mission/OYS, I just didn't notice it for some reason. I have been feeling very...well, nothing at all really, the past few weeks. I would feel joy occasionally, at random times, but not often. Coaching my kids hockey, getting blatantly checked out or having some playful banter with women. I will work more on developing my mission this week. As far as Dread is laid out in Blue Pill Professors Book, realistically it is level 2, as I am having difficulty nailing down what I…

OYS #5 Me 5 '7' 187 lbs, 10.7% bf via scale 42 years old Wife 47, together 12 married 6, one child 5 years old Mission My overarching one remains to meet the day I die confident that I lived it to the fullest. I've been thinking more on this lately. I don't dislike that mission, but it remains too vague for my liking. It has to involve me having a zest for life, excitement towards whatever is coming, whether it is a challenge or opportunity. I have been doing better at it, but still find myself …

It's hard to say what may apply best in your situation as there are a lot of ways to go wrong, but there are a few that apply to squats and dl's. Set up properly to begin with. Feet even, meaning one isnt a few inches back, similar rotation and spacing from your midline. Make sure the bar is even across your shoulders and or hand position, not an inch or two to one side, angled higher across your shoulders etc. Make sure the weights arent sliding to one side also if the collars arent tight or yo…

OYS#4 Me 5 '7' 189lbs, 11.2%bf via scale 42 years old Wife 47, together 12 married 6, one child 5 years old Reading/listening this past week. Gendernomics - Kindle Saving a Low Sex Marriage - Kindle - Just started Mystery Method - Audiobook NMMNG - Audiobook Dating Essentials for Men Audiobook - Robert Glover - It appears that he has read quite a bit of PUA and Red Pill stuff. Not necessarily an addition to the recommended reading list, but decent if you are like me and have a long commute. Phys…

Just my two cents, but I wouldnt be so quick to limit it to injury recovery. It can be useful in injury prevention when the weight gets up there, especially as a guy gets older. A set can start out okay, and a slight shift of the weight, etc., while you are squatting or deadlifting can cause a tear in a small supporting muscle group or make something go crunch. I know I would have scoffed before my late 30's at this, but now it seems like it takes a lot longer to recover from small strains and s…

While I will continue with playful banter, the consequences arent worth it just for the shit show it could become going any further. Also, if I have the mentality of abundance, why would I chose my 50 year old boss, even if she probably the most attractive woman there and could pass for late 30's? As far as the 2nd point, it really is because I realized I was hamstering. I was tired, but not that tired. Then I started doing hamster math and argued with myself that if I left when I did I would on…

It's on the list of things to do and I've made myself a reminder to start investigating by the end of the month. The one challenge with the babysitting selection is my wifes career. She has seen a disturbingly high number of instances where either the babysitter, but more likely an acquaintance of the babysitter commits abuse against children. Due diligence that satisfies her mom instincts are stringent, and I find it hard to argue for looser standards when she relays the cases to me.

You're right that she is bored. I actually have a friend in this city, just that he is usually too busy with 3 kids under the age of 5. During my previous attempts I would lead her on fun spontaneous things when we could get babysitting.

Alternate account because better safe than sorry. OYS 1 Married 6 years, together 12. Me 43, her 48. One child 6 years old. Long time drunk beta captain and Lurker getting my shit together. While this is technically OYS#1, I tried mapping shortly after our kid was born based on Athol Kay's books, and then found mrp a couple years ago. Each previous time I started off strong, but as the sex did not pick up with my improvements, the frustration built. I would start Rambo-ing and fall back into a p…
