It's not common usage though. Thanks for clarifying you don't think I'm illiterate :)

It'll take a bold journalist to write the truth about the Suffragettes and the White Feather movement.

Sorry dude, using the 'language changes' argument to cover up a mistake is really weak. 'Nah, I mean to say pacific instead of pacific. Language changes bro, accept it.' Not buying it. Calling something rubbish 'a wank' is just plain stupid.

So three reasons from you for why female-on-male physical abuse should be ignored. Thanks for that.

Hello. I'm going to try a different approach - not shouting at you and having a conversation. So, here goes: why would you want to be circumcised as an adult?

That very good. One thought though, if that's Aladdin, now's not the time to share it. We don't want the MRM accused of trying to hijack the death if Robin Williams in any way, no matter how tenuous.

There is one person on there asking her hard questions - any mumsnet users here should join in and lend your voices.

No, but it is unhelpful when people use blatant radfem tactics to attack the MRM.

As a feminist, I think she's clueless about how easy it is for male survivors to find help. Find help for what?

No pussy pedestal stuff going on here, Mr Red Pill - just someone who can easily see through the "man, I want to hit a woman" subtext of some wankers who claim to care about men's rights.

I'm appalled at the lack of challenges. I really, really hope that suggestion has come about because we have a lot of 14-16 year old subscribers, because otherwise, damn, no wonder people accuse MRAs of being paedos.

For your first citation request, page 21 http://t.co/tsxs0wkKOR and also third paragraph http://t.co/u8s5GS7NNd For your second, there are thousands and thousands of sources. Just open any browser and look for naked men and women and you'll be confronted with one major difference - our genitals and bone structure are very different. If you are arguing that drugs and surgery can be used to alter people, then you are right. But you are also defeating your own argument - the necessity for drugs/sur…

I don't think commenting with a different point of view is brigading. Hijacking a Reddit thread and downvoting so it, and its commenters, don't get their opinions heard, is.

The problem is, our most vocal campaigners (AVFM) blame everything on evil feminists, which the general public reads as "women haters".

Urgh, how about a men's rights group that isn't a hate factory instead of those dicks.

As a feminist, if you could do something about that, we'd be more appreciative than simply receiving apologies. Someone comes here open-armed, and instead of welcoming them, you opt for passive aggression? Nice work /s

How about we don't try to make this a big deal and feed into the outside world's stupid fucking idea that we're all about finding reasons to hit women.
/r/MensRights14/05/14 04:05 PM

Ha. You're blind. AVfM does more to hurt us than help us. If you can't see that, you're beyond help. To be an asshole and get away with it, you need to build up popularity first so people overlook it. AVFM was filled with assholery from day one. If we're going to be bigger and stronger than radical-feminism, people like you need to grow the fuck up and get in the real world, fast.
/r/MensRights19/04/14 03:05 PM
1

This a thousand, million times. People that say 'AVfM is controversial and that's good' aren't looking at the bigger picture. We need to win allies, not ostracise potential MRAs and help our detractors vilify us.

When you understand how the world works, you'll see. We're fighting a stealth war. Wrapping up our messages in a package that doesn't turn people off is vital.

Yeah I was - glad the joke didn't go over your head. I tried to aim low. And the presentation of a message is just as important as the message itself.

I understand your points, but I think just think stuff like this trivialises our struggle. Looking after kids is something every parent should do. To highlight someone doing what they're meant to do, sets our bar very, very low. And how many more pictures like this are we now going to see on the sub, in place of actual discussion and instances of misandry. To paraphrase Chris Rock: "You're supposed to take care of your kids, you low-expectation-having motherfucker!" (Not you, you're not the moth…

That's nice, but this has nothing to do with men's rights. A picture showing a man looking after their child is: a) irrelevant and b) makes us look petty. "See! He's not beating her or eating her! We ARE human after all! In your FACE feminists."

This is a product marketed at men who see themselves as 'beasts' - and I'm sure we've all met them. There's nothing anti-male about it, unless you think we should be like radfems - always looking for something to be offended about? Move along, there's nothing offensive here.

This woman AND HER HUSBAND are both disgusting. But even if she was acting alone, this has fuck all to do with men's rights.

This one isn't too bad. It still uses the offensive term 'mansplain', but having had a quick look at some of her other tweets, she is a very hate-filled woman. And nobody calls her out on it. Equality! /s

The IRA? Really? Holy shit. Maybe you never lived through the daily fear of not knowing if your car, bus, office, home was going to be blown up by lawless murderers, but if you think talking about terrorists in the same breath as men's rights is appropriate, then our movement is in serious fucking trouble. If you're American, replace those few weeks when you were scared of Al Qaeda who committed a handful of attacks on your soil with decades of being scared of the IRA who committed hundreds of a…

And this is where I expect downvotes, but: Feminism says it's about equality, and we expect them to work on men's issues. We're about equality, but what do we do to work on women's issues? It has to work both ways, or we're just as big hypocrites as they are.

Oh nice. A 'troll' attack. How long have you been a member of SRS? Thinking gang rape is wrong makes me a moron? Your parents must be so proud. Incidentally, how is your mum/sister?
/r/MensRights12/01/14 09:25 PM

If there were 2 gang rapes every day for a month in India even that wouldn't be statistically significant. It might not be statistically significant, but it's still significant, you heartless prick. ONE gang rape anywhere, of anyone, is one too many. It's comments like that that give people the impression the MRM is full of scumbags.
/r/MensRights12/01/14 09:14 PM
1

No, because a post about a gang rape in India is fair enough to have a fuss made about it, isn't it.
/r/MensRights12/01/14 12:11 PM

Read enough, and he damn well is a misogynist. He doesn't call for women to be cut up, but he's an aggressive prick.

We shouldn't settle for second fourth-best. Elam actively damages our public image, and the sooner he - and AVFM - vanishes, the better. Imagine how far feminism would have got if all it had was Valerie Solanas. It took rational people who weren't spouting ill-founded hate to get a foothold - but that's all Elam offers, and we (not you, but the MRM at large) treat him like he's our MLK? Fuck. That.
/r/MensRights06/01/14 09:49 AM
2

It's not better than nothing, because people hear his shit, switch off, and decide we're all cunts.
/r/MensRights04/01/14 02:27 PM

Once again AVFM hurts the MRM. Paul Elam opens his stupid mouth and we all look bad. The sooner that site goes down, the better it will be for our movement.

Unless these comments were made by the same people, or were at least from the same subreddits, this means fuck all.

You're totally right, and I don't know why you're getting downvoted. The world we live in, people DO have to say the obvious otherwise their opponents will just jump on them. Let's do something that isn't just moaning about feminists - let's lend our voice to a campaign that needs more support. And think about this: imagine we get start getting gay rights groups aligning themselves with the MRM, who the hell is going to tell them they're wrong? In the oppression olympics, gay groups piss all ove…

most people are persuaded by emotion not by logic. Your naivete astounds me. Emotional arguments offer short term influence. For long-lasting change, logic and intelligence is needed. I want long-lasting change.
/r/MensRights30/08/13 06:41 PM

I believe that's totally the wrong approach to have if we're going to gain wider acceptance. Logic, not aggression, is how we'll win this war.

I believe that Elam and his aggressive stance hurt us.

I take your point, but the writer has reasoning behind it, and leftofcentaur gives their reasoning for posting it. I've checked out this guy's Twitter, and he's really going out to bat for men. Sure, some of the stuff he's saying is a bit childish, but you know what it's much better than a lot of the crap I see here. I'm talking cheap Facebook pastes, comments calling women cunts, and worst of all, the depressingly regular comments saying 'feminism is the enemy'.
/r/MensRights29/07/13 08:36 PM
3

Is this the kind of attitude you want representing your movement for equal rights for men? He isn't representing us. Who said he was? Does he even mention the MRM?
/r/MensRights29/07/13 06:49 PM
2

The irony is (in my experience - no data to back this up) a worrying amount of these Tumblr activists make up their sexual assault/rape stories.
