Thank you!! 💓 😂 This was THREE DAYS after the date, and followed on from him asking me if I was still interested, so I think he was lashing out at me for rejecting him. Horrible. It's partly my fault for accepting a drinks date anyway (as nothing else is open where I am, but it's my sign to wait to date when things are better!)

Ladies I am FUMING! A guy I had a first date with told me off via text for 'standing there and expecting him to pay for the drinks' (he paid for my hot chocolate. This same guy told me later in the conversation that he was earning good money.) I should have blocked then and there but I told him what I thought about men who expect women to pay*. And that if he wanted to talk about behaviour it would have been polite of him to have offered me his scarf when I was freezing cold. He then said I took…

15€ (a bit less than $20?)! This was also after me playing dumb like 'is this just to reserve the ticket or to reserve and pay?:)' and 'I don't understand. So we're doing this Dutch style?' When he replied 'Yes :)' I said the above about not being used to paying when I'm invited somewhere hahaha

I'd been talking to a guy for a couple of weeks- he was a good conversationalist and seemed to have his life together. I accepted his invitation to meet at an art exhibition. He messaged me the instructions for how to buy a ticket. I said 'Ah. I'm not used to being invited to a relatively expensive event and being expected to pay for myself.' He instantly unmatched with me!

I accepted the exhibition and he gave me the instructions for how to reserve and pay for the ticket online. No thanks. I'm genuinely wondering if expecting a guy to pay on a first date is some kind of extreme expectation.

I'm not even sure anymore. He just mentioned the price of an exhibition he thinks looks good and asked me what I think. I think...that you should reserve the tickets if you're inviting me?🙄

To be fair that was his suggestion for if I wanted to meet before the weekend. But yes, it doesn't scream effort!

Yeah I agree, I don't like the idea of a 'walk' as a date in and of itself. Walking through a nice park to a place to have lunch is better. I've suggested the exhibition and lunch before. Thanks 😊

Agreed!

Hi ladies. Which first date suggestion would you accept ? - Walk around a nice park (not FDS I know!!) - Art exhibition (but we'd have to wear masks so not the best for a first date in my opinion) - Lunch at a restaurant near his work during his break (if I'm free to meet before the weekend he said) These are all his suggestions. I'm leaning towards lunch, but would it feel rushed if it's during his lunch break? Or is it good to keep the first date relatively short? Is it awkward eating in front…

Thank you! You're right, I need to have the mentality of 'his stalling is unattractive and I don't need that.'

I've been unmatching guys from OLD who don't ask to meet in a timely manner (a week). But I don't find that easy to do when the conversation seems to be going really well and he is consistently replying and asking about me. So how do I push it towards meeting without asking outright?!

I find it strange. Like surely no-one wants to just have a text conversation for weeks on end? I've been deleting guys that don't ask to meet by one week of talking

Agreed. I also found it odd that, when we were speaking about travelling, he mentioned he'd been to Italy 'with his ex' last summer. It's not a big deal but my instinct was like hmm ok 😅

A guy on OLD said I ask too many questions, then said 'tell me about you now' (without asking me any questions himself). How else are you meant to get a feel for the other person before meeting?(I don't want to message for weeks either, just a few days before deciding whether I'd accept an invitation to meet or not).

I once went on a date with one of those 'Christian' guys. He laughed when I said I went to church every week. I should have walked out then but this was pre-FDS 😒

Where would you recommend meeting good Catholic guys? The problem I have is not meeting that many who share the faith in the first place, AND who I'm attracted to and who I have a few things in common with besides faith... I know it works for some people to date outside the faith but I'm not sure about how that would work in the long-term.

So... date on Saturday night and good follow-up text. Now it's Monday evening and nothing...:/

Great, thanks! And what about texting? Would you say it's best to keep communication to the dates, or would you expect a little ongoing conversation via text between dates?

Hi ladies! What do you expect in terms of contact after a first date and the time the man should take in setting up a second one? In my case he texted me after the first date (yesterday) to say he'd had a great time and looked forward to seeing me again, and before the date ended he was talking about things in his area he would show me 'next time'.

Oh my gosh, this really used to get to me when I was younger. A guy in the street would ask for my number or to go out and I'd say no, and they'd say 'oh, do you have a boyfriend?' I used to say I did, just to get them to leave me alone, and avoid being harassed. Some of them would then say 'but we can just be friends'! Edit: typos

I'll check out that book, thanks! Having a stronger faith life seems to be good for better self-discipline all round I find :)

Is it necessarily a bad sign if a guy takes between 24-48 hours to reply to OLD messages? Every time we message we end up writing quite long paragraphs to each other, he's been asking good questions and putting effort into his replies. Could it just be he takes his time to answer properly? (I think I'm just overthinking things. We should be meeting up on the weekend). Thanks!

So what's the best way to go about finding this out before investing too much time in a relationship, if you don't want to have sexual intimacy before commitment?

I always get SO irritated when I see 'apolitical' in a guy's profile!

You're so right, it's a learning experience. Can't expect to get this all right straight away :) The good sign is that my self-esteem must be in a better place cos I agree I'm a queen and I think he's an idiot if he can't see that 😂 Thanks!

Thanks for the support! The thing is, he always does text me first, I just decided to ask him if he wanted to do something this time and got shot down... He often asks me if I'll join him at church and he helped me when I moved apartment. But I guess the point is that he's not taking it any further in terms of actual dates and is keeping me at a distance, and I want more than that, so I refuse to make any more moves! I've booked a solo trip outside my city for next week to get some post-confinem…

Hi ladies, I love this community! I've been lurking for a month or so and really trying my best to implement FDS in my life. I had a slip up earlier and am feeling a bit down. I can't get over a crush I have on a guy, and earlier I asked him if he wanted to get a drink a bit later this evening (he lives close by, things are open where we live). He thanked me for the invitation but says he has too much work to catch up on but that he'll be at church tomorrow (where we usually see each other) if I…
