This is the stupidest poster I've ever seen. As much as I know this happens, seeing it being advertised is a whole different story.

Yes, her getting the plea deal was because of her claiming she was abused, and they wanted her to testify against Bernardo. It wasn't over the years. They signed the plea deal, then the video tapes were found, which is what revealed her actual role in the torture/murder Leslie Mahaffy and Kristen French. She's a manipulative, disgusting murderer just like Bernardo. They realized pretty quickly how much they screwed up, and what she actually was.

A person does not get put in the sex offender registry for statutory rape? Or is it state/province dependent?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. It's directly linked to the accountant she took to court. If I was him, I'd take it as a threat - a very public, and open one.

As a woman, I find this absolutely insulting. You're going to publish my work based on my gender? Last time I checked, I don't pick out a boom at the store because it was written by a woman, I pick it out because it's interesting. This is absolute crap.

I really just wanted to shut my brain off. What the absolute fuck? Human Rights/Discrimination laws exist for a reason, and no where does it say "Under these circumstances, it's okay!" Why do you still talk to this person?

Someone they love? This child was 15 years old, and coerced into a sexual relationship with an adult. That isn't love, that's abuse. It was not just any adult, it was an adult who was in a position of power, and should have protected him. There is nothing soft about this crime, and she must deal with the consequences of her actions.

They're on AM radio at 12AM in the Toronto, Ontario area. I hear it when I'm on my way home from work. I can't remember which station though - more than likely 1010.

Tell him. No one should be able to take away a person's right to choose. He's obviously not married to the woman he thought, and he deserves to know that. I wouldn't want people like your cousin and Aunt in my life anyways!

The more personal stories I read on this subreddit, the more I am disgusted. How can words like this come out of someone's mouth, and they think it's okay? It makes me really sad (and angry), and I'm so sorry this has happened to you. Go to a lawyer, try keeping someone else with you while she's near you (not always possible), and go to your boss.

That's awful! I'm glad you got home safe. I completely agree with what you've said, and matches with what I was thinking while on that site.

I agree with you, but the issue needs to be addressed in gender neutral terms b/c sexual harassment can happen to anyone. Men shouldn't have to fear what happens if they ask a woman for her phone number!

As a woman, I find this completely insulting. I don't whose life they're simulating, but stuff like that rarely happens.

I agree that the student should have been given the accommodation due to his religious beliefs since that is his right. I just don't understand how someone will survive in the workplace when their religion dictates they can only associate with people of the same gender? If we're going to use the "too bad" excuse then it should apply to both genders, not just men.

My Mom is probably around the same age as your mom, and when she says things along these lines (she hates using email), I gently remind her that her behaviour is still sexist. My Dad also has some interesting things to say, he still holds to some gender stereotypes. I always try to remember that they were raised in a different time than myself, and their verbal remarks don't soak into every aspect of their personalities. They treat people with respect, and allow their children to choose their ow…
