Great. Now I’ve got a boner. Thx OP.

2014 Keystone Montana. I’m in Oregon. It’s got the extra big kitchen area. I’m paying her $2700/mo spousal support/cs so this is my only real option for living without roommates. Truth is I actually enjoy living in the trailer more than I did the house we had. The small space encourages me to get out and exercise and work on projects. I have access to the shop adjacent to the trailer and I’m 75% done building a Lotus 7 race car. Trailer life has been good for me.

It ended up being the right situation for me. Family had land and needed help maintaining their property.

Family members had land and are kind enough to let me stay there if I help out with property maintenance. Dug a trench and made leech line for gray water. Currently using their bathroom for black water needs. Might install a mini septic tank in the future. Trailer is next a large workshop, so I have good power supply.

I bought a used but excellent 36’ 5th wheel trailer to live out the alimony years. Kids think it’s cool. Like camping every weekend. )120k new. I bought used for $20k.

What other choices would you make that there’s a 50% chance that you could lose half of what you have? Marriage is high risk and little gain. Try BASE jumping if you need risk/thrill in your life.

I’m going to talk to an attorney. I’ll discuss this option. It is something I could do. But I keep hearing it goes off your last W2 and there’s no accounting for overtime. In which case I’ll be a slave for years.

Perfect. This is exactly the advise I need. I have no idea how this stuff works.

Thanks. Right at the 9 year mark. I should contact an attorney. She is going to come after the money with everything she can. She’s threatened that before when I talked with her about splitting up. Said she would financially ruin me and tell my family, friends and coworkers that I’m abusive(I’m not) if I left.

Thanks. I keep thinking another home value. No guarantee the market will stay up in a few years. She’d end up with the home and have to cash me out. Perhaps one day I’ll look at this as a ‘practice marriage’ when/if I find a worthwhile relationship.

I think you’re right. I’ve been waiting the last 6 years thinking things will improve in the relationship. That time has only worsened the financial liability for me. I’ll schedule a meeting with an attorney to get some consultation on what to expect. I truly have no idea what to do regarding a divorce.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
