I find it hard to make any definite statements because I really just don't have enough information to make any claim. That being said, it IS my gut hunch that men transition to female more because society doesn't value men as much. It was definitely a reason in me wanting to transition. Not the only reason mind, but it was definitely one of em. That being said, could just be I'm seeing what I want to see. I don't know. it's difficult to say.

It always gives me mixed feelings when a trans man mentions disliking the things that I (a trans woman) hated about being a man. On the one hand, it's kind of validating. I feel like I can go "SEE! A lot about being a man sucks" but on the other hand...I hope it still works out for you. I know there is still a lot to enjoy about being a man if you have the right....I dunno...state of mind for it.

I really don't understand why people have to be rude about this stuff. Even if you don't agree, just don't be an asshole.

Not even trans people like this bull crap. It's just a mens room with a different sticker on it. It's an extremely half hearted attempt to show support. Might as well change nothing at all.

Because it's more than snipping off a hangnail. It very much hurts sensitivity. My boyfriend has major sensitivity issues because of his. It's not just a flap of vestigial skin they're removing, it's full of nerve endings. Scar tissue from circumcision can cause the penis to bend. Sometimes creating a curve so dramatic that sex is impossible, difficult, or painful. Botched circumcisions happen regularly and have left boys with completely broken genitals. It's purely pointless, and sure, a large …

I'm a mtf trans woman with this viewpoint. People started treating me a LOT better once I began to pass for a cis woman. Nobody moved to the other side of the road to avoid me, people smile at me now. Men are so much nicer to me that it's laughably adorable. I have felt little downside to my change, and any disrespect I got at work was the same level it was pre transition. My old boss was always a cunt, and my new boss treats me pretty great. I know the shit men go through. I lived as one for 20…

I find a lot of traditional values to be super gynocentric and I'm not a fan. I do however believe that gender roles were mostly shaped by each genders natural proclivities. I don't think gender roles should be super strongly enforced, but I don't think they should be mocked, or regarded as something with no value. The reason women aren't typically warriors is mostly cause barely any women want to be. As far back as hunter gatherer civilizations this held true. Yes, a lot of societies coded this…

This has to be the pet project of someone from a rich family. I cannot see any investors or anyone with any business sense at all greenlighting this.

Why is giving the film it's fair shot being feminist? I have pretty low expectations for it myself, but I'm still not gonna judge it till I see it.

because it's just as often, if not more often, women who use those tactics to shame men for showing weakness. It's not toxic "masculinity", it's just toxic in general.

Well, the sterilization they'd push in that case would probably lead to breast growth. Prolly not what this dude wants.

This excuse makes me want to scream. Strength is not defined purely by muscles. Muscles don't mean shit if the woman has the upper hand in 6 other ways.

holy hell this is so refreshing. I transitioned to female, not male, but I'll always remember the numerous ways it was miserable to be a guy. Never could fathom how any trans man stays feminist.

I'm a trans woman, so from an early age my envy of women and girls was incredibly high. As far as I was concerned, from day one I couldn't dress how I wanted, act how I wanted, speak the way I wanted. Whereas women could be tomboys and it was considered 'cute'. I closed myself off and sat and read books my entire childhood because of it. So realizing that certain things weren't socially acceptable for boys, that were A-OK for girls, happened very quickly for me, but other stuff came a bit later.…

Didn't expect her to be pro gun. I've never met an Aussie who was pro gun before. Though, while I do live in a place that allows guns, I find them a bit impractical to carry 90% of the time. Martial arts are pretty frikken practical on that front. Dunno why more women don't do them. I did, and It's great knowing I can take on a guy while still being physically weaker than him. Does a lot to fight back the constant fearmongering that gets hurled at women.

I've always been a proponent of the legal age being lowed to 16 whole stop. Kids want to, and absolutely are boning at that age. Not to mention sexting and sending photographs. Genuine pedo's don't want a 16 year old girl with fully developed tits or a sexually mature boy, they're more interested in a 9 year old. However, I do think any teacher that gets sexually involved with a student compromises the students education, so should result in termination for the teacher involved, regardless of co…

While it may be true that the more sane and open to egalitarian feminists are the silent majority. Unfortunately, the vocal minority controls the newspapers and magazines, the lobbies, and the major womens groups who start protests to ban anything speaking about mens issues.

let me tweek your theory here. I don't think women are disengenuous about themselves exactly. They know for damn sure that they themselves don't want to be in STEM. I think they're constantly fighting for the mystical "other woman" who wants to do all this stuff that's atypical for women. They don't realize however, that most women are like them, and want jack and shit to do with STEM. Thus the battle continues, and barely anyone benefits. (aside from those few women who genuinely do want in, an…

yep. I learned this very well when I transitioned from male to female. First thing all my female friends did when I started my transition was try to convince me how scary men are and that I should be super duper extra heinously careful now. Sad part is...if I didn't have so many great men in my life, I might have bought into their bullshit.

I don't believe I ever stated any "solution" towards discrimination against men. I just said that I found feminism to be disingenuous. There are some areas where I feel the solution is to elevate men to a more equal level as you say, but every situation is nuanced and sometimes that may not be possible.
/r/MensRights01/03/18 05:58 AM

What you call "positive" aspects of feminism, I call discriminitory and negative aspects. Do those things benefit me? Technically yeah, but I still find them discriminatory, and thus, not positive aspects of feminism. Now I do agree that we don't necessarily need to 'bash' feminism, but I do feel it needs to be criticized where it's due. Moreover, part of the reason the MRM has trouble creating something "equal for themselves" is because feminists lobby against us incredibly hard, which makes wo…

Oooh well that's interesting to hear! Don't usually bump into trans men here. Good luck with the dude life. You're not wrong that hormones effect everyone a bit differently, but there are definitely certain things that don't differ very much. Hormones aren't going to cause one person to grow a tail, and another to become Yog-Sothoth the infinite intelligence. There's a lot of baseline stuff that's pretty much going to happen across the board. Testosterone does make your skin thicker, that's a fa…

I don't know how to say what I want to say without sounding like a ranting bitch so I'll try to be brief. I'm a trans woman who supports the MRM. A passable trans woman at that (which the stigma around that phrase is a whole nother can of worms). Most people don't know, unless they knew me before the change. Because of this i've experienced first hand the different ways men and women are treated in the U.S. and more and more I find feminism to be completely absurd. Quite frankly, I think other w…

Hey, don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be 'happy' to have women left with fewer, I'd just rather the options be better for everyone rather than skewed so much. As for fractured homes being bad for society. That ship has been sinking for a good long while now. Tethering absent fathers to a child support system that barely does anything but fuel the government machine is not doing anything to correct that. If anything is making it worse by sticking men who can't pay in jail, causing them to be unable…

Well, you've really lost me here. We expect women to man up and take birth control responsibly? No we don't, we have other avenues they can take should they fail to take birth control responsibly. If they fail to utilize the morning after pill, we have other avenues they can take. If they fail to get an abortion to deal with it, we have other avenues they can take. You want people to handle their own shit, sure, that's admirable, but when women have 6 different options for handling their own shi…

So your solution is "Man up" instead of doing something about incongruencies in the law. Great. That helps everybody. I'm glad you didn't get entrapped, and I'm glad you fancy yourself such a badass for getting a vasectomy. I wish more guys would, but fuck your "it's shitty, but I can ignore it cause I'm TUFF" mentality.

Alright, I'll bite here. Why don't we teach young women, that the moment they spread their legs for a dick, they're forgoing their right to choose whether or not to become a parent? Regardless of how you feel about what I just said, the fact is, we don't tell women that. Women have tons of options for complete parental surrender, be it putting the kiddo up for adoption, an abortion, or even in many places, the ability to just drop the baby off at certain facilities and wash their hands of it. So…

I actually think I read somewhere that there were more FtM trans people, but it seems like they are fewer due to most people overlooking them. Cause...y'know, they're dudes, and nobody pays attention to dudes XP Most of the trans people I'm friends with are female to male too, though, I don't exactly have a large sample size.

Except that you don't go on hormones when you're 7. This is the biggest misconception I see about this. Boys already have testosterone, but you wouldn't inject a 7 year old boy with testosterone. Hormones are used to create the effects of puberty, and then stabilize your appearance and function throughout your adult life. Giving a prepubescent child hormones is stupid on all accounts. Not even advocates of children transitioning are fighting for 7 year olds to get hormones. At lowest we're talki…

God this has been my favorite thing about transitioning to female. People actually compliment me now. When I was living as a man, I was freaking invisible to others. Just that average dude that people overlook. I longed for someone to think I looked nice all the time! Now maybe I wanted it a little bit more than most guys, due to potentially having a more feminine brain or something ((I have no idea what the science is on that really)) But it absolutely is something men are starved of. The ability of a trans woman to get a lighter sentence probably depends on if she passes for female or not. If she looks like a dude in a dress, likely she wont get much sympathy, but if she looks as cute as me (eeeeyyy i'm kidding) or Bailey Jaye or something, then yeah....people will probably go "cute and adorable smoll girl must be coddled!"

I was never much of a feminist. I think I perhaps said I was a few times just on the supposition that it meant I supported equal rights for ALL, but I was never hardcore. I am however, trans and bisexual, so I was commonly around people who fully embraced the fem train. Especially during college. Amusingly enough, and unfortunately for them, it was their dismissive and aggressive attitudes towards men that first made me question things and seek out other points of view.

I'm trans and support the MRM. Trust me though...being trans doesn't get you a pass to support the MRM unchallenged. You get the "internalized Misogyny" schtick, or my favorite "You'll understand once you've been a woman longer." You'd think maybe people would listen considering I know a bit about what it's like to live as both, but nope....there can be no alternative beliefs in their minds.

This is so completely imbecilic. If you want gender neutral bathrooms, they need to actually be seperate from the gendered ones...ooooor just make them all gender neutral. What you have in this picture is a de facto mens room. Doesn't matter what sticker they slap beside it....it's going to be used as a mens room. Not a single trans woman is going to use it either becaaaause...dun dun da dun...it's a mens room. fucks sake.
