I would say pubs are way better places for that - there are older people there and you can actually talk. OP, try hitting the pubs (you don't have to drink), try the ones that are a bit quieter so you can actually talk with the women and get to build solid rapport before going for the contact so that you have a reason to meet up next time. I was more like a jokingly said/fun vibe when I made that comment. I have a bit of trouble letting lose on the dancefloor, feel like people are staring etc.. It can be helpful to arrive at the club a little bit early so you can warm up socially by chatting up people who work there at the venue, both men and women.
