Thanks for the link. It is 17 years old, though, so the data is pretty stale. Not concerned with the comedian's joke, but being classist is at least semi-forgivable. US culture is at least aware that racism is bad, while shitting on poor people is a hallowed American pastime.

Also, I want to add that nobody here is arguing that most women are murdered by their spouses, so saying that 104 more women avoid death and dismemberment isn’t really relevant. More people will experience safe journeys than traffic accidents today, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t important to try to mitigate whatever mayhem DOES happen, even when it happens less often than not.

That’s fascinating, I’d love to see some data on the infanticide bit. Regarding ethnicity playing a part, I think poverty is way more likely to be the culprit (assuming you care about causation rather than correlation). Mommy and daddy are a lot less likely to beat the shit out of each other when they aren’t constantly arguing about how they’re going to afford rent next month.

Most men don’t need a mommy, but they sure do perk up when Jordan Peterson tells them to clean their rooms. Maybe what they need - what we ALL need - is a daddy.

“1 in 3 female murder victims and 1 in 20 male murder victims are killed by intimate partners.” “1 in 5 women and 1 in 59 men in the United States is raped during his/her lifetime.” Actual rape is worse than metaphorical “divorce rape”. Let’s be realistic.

Women murder their SOs ~25% as often as men murder theirs, so whether or not they “think bad about their exes” seems pretty arbitrary. Its also worth noting that “1 in 3 female murder victims and 1 in 20 male murder victims are killed by intimate partners” Basically, women are far more likely to be murdered by intimate partners than men are.

“Do they get evicted for poor housekeeping?” Did you know that the phrase “clean your (bloody) room” is a phrase repeated by one of today’s most popular self-help authors for young men, Jordan Peterson? Perhaps, some men don’t need a “mommy”; what need is a daddy.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
