Similar situation to you -- I work 9-6 but have an hour commute in each direction. I will disagree with those saying to go to the gym straight from work......that is the absolute busiest time there and you will stand around waiting for equipment. ​ It sounds like you work 8-5 so I'm not sure why you are waking up at 6am.
