Agree. This isn’t a done deal - have the kids 50% of the time and no maintenance needed. Also “So she wants to keep the house” - thankfully the law doesn’t work like that. It’s completely up to you if you want to be bought out. Or it gets put on the market. We’d all love to “keep the house” but often that’s not reality .

You miss the person you fell in love with, not the person at the end. Brain doesn’t really know the difference. Easily done.

This is it. Remember what they mean when they say they miss us. They never liked us before, thought life would be better. Finally appreciate you when it’s too late. It’s hard though.

Dude you just got divorced, if anything you now know exactly what you want and importantly, what shit you don’t want to deal with ever again. Therapy 7 months in is a bad sign. But… Look at the relationship as a positive - she no doubt helped you through a shit time and was the perfect distraction and what you wanted at the time, you’ll always owe her that, but don’t waste time on aggressive and unreasonable women.

Hey bud. That first week / month is gonna be tough. I mean there’d be something wrong with you if it didn’t hurt. For me the real pain came when they left, coming back and all their toys still out. But what that made me realise, it that I’d just had AN AMAZING time with my kids. Real magic. Something I don’t think I truly had before when at the old house. It was just routine while getting moaned at. Time with the kids now, you get to appreciate that on a level others can only hope to achieve. A …

My advice is don’t rush anything, know that it’s totally cool to enjoy your own company and don’t put pressure on yourself. You can get into things too quick, but more often than not, let everything change slowly. You’ll feel a lot more in control. The kids on the phone, I remember that. It’s horrible. Just make the most of every second they are over. Get them to think of your new apartment as a second home, not “visiting Dad”. I probably messed up a bit and didn’t work hard enough on them feeli…

Yeah it sucks big time. But in a years time when he gets to know a whole new better version of you, someone with more energy and time, this feeling now will be inconsequential. Took my son a while to adjust. He still throws it back at me at times, but I know that I’m a better Dad now and more mentally equipped to be a better role model.

Ah man I’m with you on this one. I hate it. Tidying up after they’ve gone is pure torture. I’m a year down the line and it’s not any easier. I think what helps though, is the time I do spend with them is now infinitely more rewarding than when living with them full time. Not so much because of the kids, but I’m generally a happier person now. I do miss seeing them every day, but at least I know now that the time I do spend with them, they get 100% of attention 40% of the time. Which is probably …

Shit no idea how you manage that mate. As I said in another reply, it seems evil this can even be allowed to happen to someone.

Oh dear sorry to hear this. How does this even happen? Seems so evil someone can inflict this on someone else legally. Is there any chance of things improving in the future?

This. Same boat (more or less, 10 year marriage). The apps are great if you are genuine. Get some decent shots (I realised I take zero photos of myself), and just don’t be another generic dude. Don’t be super keen on the messages and be careful not to waste time on pen friends. 1 year later I’m in a very happy relationship. It’s far easier than back in our day!

It’s not forever. I remember falling asleep at work. It’s tough. But it gets better.

Having a 3 month old is hard work. Really hard work. And hard on the marriage. Don’t react now to what will hopefully be a blip. She’s probably all over the place emotionally. Try and stick with it mate.

Fuck me this is a dumb sub. When did I say a child is more valuable than an adult?? Having someone question you isn’t as bad as being kidnapped. I’d rather be asked 100 times if I’m my child’s dad than have my child kidnapped.

Way to make sure people are too worried to say anything. Surely it’s worth 100 wrong accusations to save 1 child.

It’s utterly thankless being a man, and I say, on average, we’re nicer people, more considerate, honest, hard working. Yet all we get is shit.

Pure madness.. “ I might put in an amendment to create a curfew for men on the streets after 6 pm. I feel this would make women a lot safer, and discrimination of all kinds would be lessened.”

Stop telling people how to behave and act. This can be compared to instructing a toddler.
