How dare women like a man with principles? Hah, what nonsense!

Sorry, I thought you were the OP! SAHM cannot be a betrayal of the feminist cause, because feminism says that women (and men) can choose to do whatever they want in life - the point is to break down gender roles. Anyone who believes that women who SAH betray feminism are just wolves in feminist clothing, so to speak - not real feminists.

So then why would you say "Feminists believe" instead of "some feminists believe"? And regardless of whether or not they are a diverse group, the opinion you stated is quite an extreme one and does not fit into the basic idea of feminism.

You think every single historical circumstance of men is still fuly in effect today? No, I'm saying that some of them still apply and are still in effect - not ALL of them, but some of them. What decisions of a woman are actually her own and not somebody else's? Do you think women have any agency whatsoever? Yes, they completely do. I'm not saying that the woman in the OP doesn't sound entitled. I'm just saying that you have to stick to one of these statements "Men should pay for everything and …

I'm so sick of women justifying themselves in this manner. Like "don't hate me! I'm not anything like this woman, in fact I hate her!" You don't have to impress anyone. It goes without saying that you and every other woman out there are not exactly like this woman. It goes without fucking saying that this person is the odd one out, and there are plenty of entitled folks out there of any gender. Anyone who doesn't understand that this woman isn't the fucking spokeswoman for women everywhere is a …

Sex has always been a "gift" to the man, or about the man, because for a long time women were told that their pleasure/sexuality/etc. didn't matter and they should only focus on pleasing their man. If anything, we are just now moving away from that ideology.

These things don't apply any more. They very much do apply. You don't think there's still men out there who have those expectations? It's ridiculous for you (or anyone else) to blame women for these ideas when you (as in men, not you specifically) planted these ideas! You can certainly backtrack and say "what we did was wrong, we should try to change it now" but you can't say "women are demanding that men pay for their dinner" because it wasn't an idea they came up with of their own accord! It's…

Feminists believe women should not stay in the home. No, I'm pretty sure that feminists believe you can do whatever the fuck you want, whether that is to stay at home, or to work. AKA, whatever you want to do so long as it makes you happy and healthy. It's great that you think so too.

Your example is irrelevant because horse vets don't sit around saying "how come only horses get stomach aches? how is that fair?" If that was the case (as it is now), then "well people get stomach aches too" is an appropriate response.

Hmm, maybe choose your partner more carefully next time. I'm very sorry you're going through this and I wish you the best!

I like your example - it rings true. My question is, aren't the situations slightly different? A high-powered occupation is very coveted and hard to attain, so it would be insulting to insinuate that someone else is responsible for your success. On the other hand, washing dishes is seen as a menial task that any idiot could do, so while it still is patronizing to say something like "haha I see you were trained well by your wife," I think it's almost a jab at the wife too, because washing dishes …

I don't know much about divorce proceedings as I've never been married or divorced, but what happens if the wife just wants to get divorced and wants no money from you whatsoever. Is it court-mandated that you have to pay her even if she doesn't want you to, or do they only make you pay if she asks for alimony?

The thing is, neither should make the sacrifice. If it's something they both strongly believe in (on opposite sides of the spectrum), then neither will be happy making the sacrifice. There will always be a nagging voice in the back of their heads saying "I shouldn't have married her/I shouldn't have given up marriage for him." I mean, sacrifices are a big part of relationships, but when lifestyles are incompatible, most people would simply advise a break up.

The last one is only man-hating or sexist because it's made by an insurance company for women. Wtf? The company itself is sexist, what other sort of commercials could it possibly have? Not to mention this is the first time I've heard someone saying men are bad drivers - isn't the usual response to a woman driving "shouldn't she be in the kitchen?"

Well I mean, say the woman is the "breadwinner" and the man stays at home (I don't know how common this is, but I know it has been done) - does the man get anything if they divorce? What about if the woman has a higher salary? In that case, the wife is responsible for making the husband's life more comfortable after the divorce (since he has nothing and/or less than her), right? Or does he still have to pay her with imaginary money that he doesn't have? That would make no sense. I guess I'm just…

Maybe I just don't know enough about this issue, but how exactly can your life be ruined forever through a "regular" divorce? What happens if the man isn't getting enough out of the divorce? Also, with your second point, blame the law for making men feel insecure in their marriages, not the women. We're not standing around the corner cackling, waiting for out next prey. Perhaps that is your point, but a lot of the comments just seem like most people are taking a stab at females in general. If I …

Alright, I'll chillax. You're still saying that women are manipulative by nature, only now you have a (weird) reason behind it. How is it even a "tool for survival" to take someone else's money when you probably don't even need it? Also, marriage is not all candy and rainbows for women either. It's become a stereotype that women suddenly become Medusa-looking slave owners as soon as they get married and honestly, that's not really something I want to be associated with. Even the term "wife" seem…

Right, women are the manipulative little bitches who don't consider anyone but themselves and men are the innocent, naive little boys who truly believe it's "us against the world" and then just get fucked over. I honestly don't know where you or your friends are meeting such women who can change their personalities at the flip of a switch (marriage), but in the future try not to get involved with them?

It does, in fact, negate the point of marriage. It's not a romantic ideal - that's what marriage entails. If you want to live a separate life, why are you even in a relationship, let alone a marriage? I don't marry my friends for that reason - I don't want to share my life with them. But with my husband, that's what I'm doing. It's completely ridiculous that people do this.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
