Well, if you've been to a number of psychiatrists and they're all advising you against engaging in BDSM or sexual masochism, then I'd say that's more indicative of something they're seeing in you than it is of their views on BDSM more broadly.

Sure, plenty of thrill seekers have such backgrounds. People who are into extreme sports aren't a monolith, and neither are people who are into BDSM. BDSM is as healthy or unhealthy as the individual people who are practicing it.

I'd be hurt that my bf - instead of putting this dipshit in his place - chose to tell me about it and continue the friendship. I can't imagine how upset I'd then feel if I chose to tolerate this sort of disrespect from someone who is supposed to have my back.
