I totally agree with you - it's important to specifically call it institutional racism because that helps frame the conversation, diffuses blame, and targets actual solutions

The problem with the conversation is that individual racism doesn't really matter. At the individual level, who gives a shit? Some asshole hates people. That's not really a problem except on the individual level. It's also not something that's worth combating. I've never understood this mentality. If you are feeling attacked by the messaging, it probably needs to be directed at you right? No one is walking around thinking "women deserve bodily autonomy" and then they see a message saying "women deserve bodily autonomy" and then go "well that's the last straw! Time to put on my rapey gloves" It's like you want the conversation to be about how you are the actual victim because you're being forced to have a difficult conversation

Spot on rant. You know what reduces dumpster babies? Access to family planning. You know what reduces rape? Pre-emptive education and awareness. This shit isn't difficult. Reducing false accusations? Education and awareness. If people are uncomfortable or incapable of having measured conversations about rape, it probably means we don't have appropriate education and awareness
