Their male partners! Wow I guess that was not clear on my part!

Rape culture. Women don’t need to enjoy the sex or the relationship or feel attraction, that’s for men.

Yup. And the most misogynistic women. “I’m not like other girls, I don’t like all the drama, I just get along better with men”. All while creating max drama within the friend group

This comic is a social commentary in a way it didn’t intend to be, lol. I get the premise of it being really unfortunate that local communities are weaker and no one talks out and about, but if you’re only talking to people in public because you think they’re attractive, that’s not building community! It usually hurts community when guys approach women like this, since let’s be real it’s more often for hookups than anything else. Then, whether they succeed or not, they probably ghost after and s…

You are absolutely allowed to have that standard. That’s not personally my standard and that’s okay that we see it differently. I’ve gone through weight gain and weight loss cycles and I’m well aware it could happen again to me as I get older. I wouldn’t want to date a guy who would dump me because I gained 20lbs, and so I hold myself to that standard as well! But you have every right to hold your partner to your standards.

Same here. I think the only things that are okay are things like asking him to go to hard HIIT classes at the gym with you, cook healthier meals for both of you, and going on hikes on weekends. And make sure he’s getting annual checkups done at the doctor. If it’s a dealbreaker then you can express it that way, otherwise I don’t think you should say anything.

Yup, so many of the things men do on OLD are like a PR campaign designed to shame women and lower their standards. They’re currently on this campaign about coffee and walk dates, and hating women who like tall men.

A big difference is also women usually watch PUA videos/read their advice to protect themselves and avoid their techniques. Men seem to read FDS with the goal of convincing us to lower our standards.

Yet this guy: “when will women start making an effort?? 😤😤😤” Bitch are you delusional?? This guy acts like he’s never even seen what a woman looks like out on a date. Then again, if he’s going on “walk dates” they probably aren’t getting all dolled up in their cutest heels.

That bothered me too. Of course there’s variation in results among people with degrees…if you had terrible grades, put minimal effort into networking and interviewing for jobs, or maybe went to a for-profit school, yeah, you’re not probably not gonna be able to leverage your degree to get a good job. College is as useful as you make it. It’s not a guaranteed ticket to a middle class life unless you put the work in while you’re there.

Geez, projection much? He was being the ass for needlessly calling you out like that. Sounds like y’all weren’t even actually exes anyway and I certainly don’t go out of my way to say hi to any guy from my past who treated me poorly. I would probably clap back by saying just that, actually

Yes it does, “she doesn’t get upset by gaming” means this is actually partly a vent about exes who did. It’s not normal to state things an SO doesn’t do when you’re praising them. “Thanks for not nagging me like my bitch of an ex did!!” is obviously far more about the ex than the current SO. The genuine way to phrase this as a compliment would be something like “it’s awesome how she’ll just grab a book and come hang out with me while I’m gaming!” Edit: typo

There’s something so particularly sinister to me about telling educated/successful women that they don’t even really know themselves. Like the underlying implication can definitely be “those silly women, so easily confused and influenced, they forget what they really want when we let them get an education.” It’s so infantilizing, as if to imply that even the brightest and most educated women are still so inferior to men/so out of line, but it also feels so Handmaiden’s Tale to me. Like we’re jus…

💯 It’s incredibly difficult to consistently outperform the market, even for experts who have received degrees in finance and worked in the industry for years, and day trading is even riskier. I would never even hire a professional wealth manager to invest my money, let alone a partner with no credentials. Your best bet is a long-term investment in a low-cost index fund.

My personal favorite feminist issue to point is actually how widespread and blatant the acceptance of misogyny still is, even though our society often claims to now be equal. Porn categories are a great example. So is the fact that derogatory slurs against people based on race, sexuality, and disability are widely viewed as NEVER okay in polite society, but people who hold those views are often perfectly comfortable degrading women with words like bitch, whore, and slut. If you don’t identify as…

This is SO TRUE. I remember it being especially bad on dating apps. I think these guys are impressed by other men having hobbies because they subconsciously believe that men can have “genuine” interests and are interested in hobbies for the sake of the hobby itself. However, since they don’t really understand that women have full inner lives, they believe women can’t really have hobbies unless it’s to impress men (as shown by the struggles of many women who like video games and the disbelief aro…

I think commonly the men who ask this type of question and implying it’s a problem are overly concerned with what other men think of them and don’t have a strong sense of self or confidence in their own decision-making abilities. I.e. they only want to date women that other men want to date…so inherently any woman who is single or may want to date them is likely problematic because she’s not already in a relationship and they are trying to figure out what the problem is. This also relates to the…

I really don’t think being over 30 is the reason. I’m in my mid-20s and the prospects are still pretty bleak. Plus, would you want to end up with a guy who was going to stop trying after you turned 30 and he felt like he had you locked down, anyway?

Exact same thing here! I grew up and realized just how dangerous it is to be pregnant. Not to mention just how exhausting it is to have young children. I can’t see myself committing to being tired all the time for the next decade of my life. It has nothing to do with the money or my standard of living - it’s that raising kids is freaking hard.

If you’re living on $1/day? Yes, $268 is a TON of money. You also have to have places nearby that sell birth control (not often an option in rural areas in poor countries) and you have to have the means and the money to be able to travel there.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/06/21 12:52 AM

Exactly. And they employ the fallacy of assuming any woman who gives them a chance is only doing so because she has something wrong with her - so they then treat her like trash as a result of their own insecurities.
/r/FemaleDatingStrategy31/05/21 05:37 PM

They also can’t seem to wrap their little brains around the fact that you have a good savings account BECAUSE you are fiscally responsible and not blowing all your money paying everyone else’s way and lending out money that won’t be returned. Account balances don’t just materialize out of thin air - they are the result of years of habit-building and careful saving. These men literally expect you to drain yourself for their benefit.

This is a great example of a whole different experience of misogyny. Thanks for sharing. I think a big takeaway across all our experiences is that it's so hard, if not impossible, to determine what we each truly enjoy and do for ourselves while facing all the constant, external pressures of a patriarchal and misogynistic world. Whether that's wearing makeup because there's social pressure to, not wearing makeup because you feel pressure to act like a man and get respect that way, or doing either…

These are such great points, and I loved hearing the perspective of an actress on this! I'm in my late 20s, and had definitely fooled myself into thinking that I shave my legs for myself (lol) and wear minimal makeup for myself (pre-COVID, I used a layer of tinted moisturizer to even out my reddish cheeks and mascara for work each day). During the early pandemic, when I was working remotely and not seeing any of my friends in person, I learned EXACTLY how much I care about shaving my legs and we…

Also a quick PSA: you don't actually need to use body wash anywhere but your feet and armpits (men may need to use soap in nether regions, but this is not good for woman to do as your natural pH can get thrown off, and infections can result). Body wash can actually exacerbate issues with dry skin, too. Warm water is enough to clean off the rest of your body.

It's insane. And it NEEDS to be part of the conversation. Women won't be able to have equality in the workplace/financial equality until the division of home labor is equal. Men have SO MUCH more free time to develop new skills, take classes, start businesses, and put in extra time on projects when he has a woman making sure he has (a healthy) dinner, scheduling his appointments, managing bills, stocking the fridge, running all the errands, and doing all the cleaning. And generally being expecte…

This is kind of tangential to your comment, but I wanted to share anyway since it is related in regards to a couple of points and I spent time typing it all out, anyway, lol. A specific purple sub is OBSESSED with how the FDS handbook recommends waiting to have sex with a guy. They really believe that it's "manipulation" to have to wait for sex if a woman is genuinely interested in them. "I don't understand, if you are attracted to him just fuck him! Who cares if it doesn't work out! Just enjoy …

No, it doesn’t. I’m not sure where you’re getting this, because it doesn’t say to hide that you’re dating other people. And anyone reasonable knows it’s rude to share with someone else you’re dating non-exclusively the dirty details of what’s going on between you and someone else you’re dating. I’m not derailing anything. And something isn’t manipulation just because you don’t like it. Guess what, just like men, women can have FWB too while they also date more serious options. Nothing manipulati…

/r/FemaleDatingStrategy09/05/21 04:05 AM

I’m actually not overlooking it. Who has lied to you from FDS about having a fwb? Do you have any evidence whatsoever for this claim? Whether it’s a man or woman dating, the decent thing to do when you’re keeping your options open is to be up front about it. This does not mean getting into explicit details, as that is generally considered very rude. I appreciate a guy I’m dating being clear about his intentions: “I’m dating multiple women right now, FYI.” However, it’s rude to be more crass abou…

You clearly did not come here to have an honest conversation, and your exaggerations make you look bitter and angry. You have no idea what type of man I respect, and you need to stop projecting your fears and hatred onto me. I haven’t done anything to you. Please calm down.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/05/21 06:57 PM
2

You seem very motivated to misunderstand FDS. And that’s fine, have it your way.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/05/21 06:56 PM
1

Yup. Agreed. Generally once you are actually part of a community you see that it’s a lot more moderate than looking from the outside in (with the exception of really batshit groups like cults and neo-nazis). A huge component of FDS is working on yourself and getting where you want to be before you start trying to date.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/05/21 06:55 PM
1

Fair enough. I have never done it myself either, and tend to stay away from men who do it as well, but I also see many people irl (both men and women) dating multiple people at once and having no issue with it. These people are also usually fairly reasonable about it and expect that the people they are dating are doing the same.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/05/21 06:52 PM
2

I don’t mock men’s looks or personalities as a whole, lmao. And I don’t think you understand the context of the word “scrote”. Nobody on FDS is saying all men are scrotes. Scrotes are a particular subset of men. Just like you might refer to some women as (insert derogatory term of your choice), but you probably wouldn’t claim all women are part of that group.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/05/21 04:48 PM
0

But if you aren’t exclusive with someone, you can do what you want in regards to sex. Literally every man I know treats dating this way, why is it manipulation just because you’re a woman? I also think it’s very rude if a guy I’m dating tells me he’s fucking other women. That’s just not nice to do, man or woman. It’s one thing to be upfront and tell someone that you’re keeping your options open right now, it’s a whole other ball game to get explicit about the details. I don’t want to know if a g…

That’s your choice. There’s also a lot of respect on the sub for men who are good partners, though. If you only choose to see the negative, that’s on you as well.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/05/21 04:40 PM

How is choosing to wait for sex and being up front about it manipulation? If a woman were trying to manipulate a man in this area, she would LIE: oh we’ll have sex on the next date, no the next one, etc. I don’t think you actually know what manipulation is, my dude. It’s not having sex withheld from you for a couple months when you know that’s exactly what’s happening up front.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/05/21 04:38 PM
2

It can...but also FDS users aren’t a monolith. There are many aspects I agree with, and some I don’t bother with. And I think that’s pretty accurate for the average user as well. And I get that a lot of posts on there upset men a lot, trust me, I’ve started getting fun DMs about “I love seeing women suffer” “you’re just a sexist man-hater”, etc.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/05/21 04:35 PM
2

That’s your choice. I think men on these types of subreddits really tend to underestimate the amount your average guy irl values confidence in a woman, though. Most men aren’t actually looking for a submissive tradchick, they want an actual partner. At its core, the real value FDS provides is reminding women they aren’t unreasonable for having standards and wanting a guy who matches up to that. For example, I bring a lot to the table. I’m very successful in my career at a young age, attractive, …
/r/PurplePillDebate08/05/21 04:31 PM

This just isn’t true. I’m an FDS user in a long term relationship with an attractive, tall, caring, kind man. Also, I’m not sure what “baggage” you think FDS brings. The fact that I have standards? That I think of myself as a desirable partner with a lot to offer who also wants a partner who brings something to the table?
/r/PurplePillDebate08/05/21 03:54 PM
56

You’re definitely not alone. Society gaslights women into thinking they just need to “communicate better and he’ll finally understand”. When the truth is, it’s just another excuse and just another way for men to avoid accountability for their actions. These men already understand. They just don’t care.

Men want women who laugh at their jokes because they really just want an ego boost. Men don’t laugh at women’s jokes because they want to keep women in their place: feeling insecure, like they aren’t funny or intelligent, and therefore not demanding any better in life or their relationships.

It’s like men are so consumed by their need to get off they (apparently) can’t think clearly 99% of the time because they’re too horny. But once they nut they have “realizations” like the one in this post: they don’t even like the woman they just banged. Does that help? 😅

It's because to them, sex isn't something intimate you do with someone you love and care about. It's a degrading act about power and domination. It all ties in to how men consume porn, and the Madonna/whore complex

It’s crazy how easily they tell on themselves, AND act like it’s a compliment. It’s so easy to translate: “It’s so cool you’re not like other girls!” = I hate women. Not to mention it’s insane how some men will think you’re a POS for..wanting to eat dinner together? Lmao.

This is dead on. Great observations. It's also EXTREMELY damaging to your mental health. As someone who grew up with gaslighting, I didn't know up from down or right from wrong until I spent years away from my parents. Everything began to seem like a morally grey area, and everything was open to interpretation based on personal experience in my gaslit eyes. If you start to feel like everything is morally grey, that's a really good indicator you are in an abusive relationship.

Lol girl I’ve been there...I had a male Ubereats driver call me because he couldn’t find my place. I gave him clear directions. Exact same line: “you SURE?” BRO. Why did you ask if you’re just gonna argue with me on where I fucking live?

God, I will never forget lines from that stupid movie. Anastasia: I'm a virgin Christian: Where have you been all my life?! Because the only thing that's required for being desirable is being a virgin.... and this movie was supposed to be for women?!? And about empowering their sexuality?? Yet also telling women they need to be virgins in the same breath....fucking sure it was about women and exploring their sexuality.

Athlete A was so good and as a former child gymnast it really hit home - even though I left at age 10 (due to requiring surgery from the trauma gymnastics had already caused my body) the culture really was pervasively toxic af, not just at the top levels but all the way down to lowly level 5 me

If they actually give a damn about male victims (they don’t) they would talk about male on male sexual assault, since it’s men who assault the majority of male victims. But all they want to talk about is how evil women are. All they’re doing is pointing out their own misogyny when they try to blame women for shit MEN DO TO EACH OTHER.

Yup, getting the sense wife isn’t real or he’s still legally married but separated (and probably dragging his feet on the divorce). It’s a credibility tactic - I’m not misogynistic!! I have a wife!! Believe meeeeee!!!

I appreciated her spelling out it for everyone else looking at the thread though, including myself. I love “fear of violence is not equal to fear of rejection.” She did a great job phrasing her points clearly and concisely IMO. Someone get this queen on over to FDS!!

I have a theory scrotes never want a girl who’s into their hobbies. They want to be superior at something, and they certainly aren’t going to be more successful in their careers than the average woman so video games it is, they want the excuse of getting time away from “the old ball & chain”, and they want the option of being able to shit on her “lame” hobbies with their scrote pals. Can’t do that if she likes the same stuff!

And now this poor woman can't eat, and her awful doctor is telling her it's a good thing because she's overweight?!? Like, this isn't healthy weight loss, this is severe disordered eating!!

I think the cool girl trope often only exists for attractive women, at least that’s what I’ve seen in my life. Also, it’s not that the Cool Girls don’t wear makeup or shave or take care of themselves - they just don’t talk about it. The ultimate Cool Girl physical victory is to look “naturally pretty” while still meeting societal expectations of grooming for women, but acting personality-wise like one of the bros. Most probably put just as much time into their looks as girly girls, they just don…

Response is that it’s only homophobic if you have a problem with being gay! So they’re showing their own homophobia if they get upset 😂

This is such a great question! I would love to hear other takes on it as well. My own very basic understanding is that it's not really driven by specific neoliberal policies, but more overall just women acquiring financial freedom. In 1900s men who had an average job where more or less guaranteed a woman and a livable wage. All they had to do was work ~40-50 hrs a week, and every other need was taken care of by their wife. In addition to this, they were also told they were the hardworking ones, …

Sure, men are inconsistent all the time too. All people are inconsistent. A man acts like he wants a relationship with me but then gets into a relationship with someone else instead? Okay, I might be a bit frustrated, but I’ll move on with my life. A woman wants to have sex with a fwb but not jump into sex with a new guy? She’s allowed to do that. Why do you feel like you have the right to dictate under what circumstances women have sex? There are many reasons a woman might wait with one guy but…

Wow, this is really insightful. This also explains why men like this won't ever work on their shortcomings: "I just don't like communicating, it's who I am!! I can't change myself!" "I'm not a patient person, it's just not me!" These idiots want to convince women self-improvement isn't possible so they can stay exactly like they are instead of working to become a better person. Unfortunately for them, we all know it is possible because we've done the work ourselves. As a side note, I don't under…

she wants to have sex and relationships on her own terms How is this any different from what you want? We all get to choose to have sex and relationships on our terms and we all try to minimize potential pain for ourselves. It's simply smart to try to protect yourself. so what you are really saying is you feel cheated that he got the sex and walked away without giving you what felt you're entitled it. Except she's avoiding having sex early on, since she knows she's NOT entitled to a relationship…

I think this tactic is actually one of the most effective ones out there when it comes to incentivizing women to stay with LVM. Even very smart, strong, independent woman I am friends with who have managed to avoid a lot of the usual LVM/patriarchal bullshit have fallen prey to this sort of thinking. I’ve certainly been there too! (s/o to growing up with that Catholic guilt/slut-shaming to really drive this message home)

Same, I thought dad bod meant a strong guy over 30 who just doesn’t have a six pack. I.e. an adult man at a normal weight/physical fitness level

Same. Also honestly podcasts done by straight men are so boring 99% of the time. They just aren’t creative and rarely have unique opinions. Women are so much funnier and more original

Yes 1000%. Honestly, same mood with friends. I’ve had numerous occasions when an old friend (who the relationship faded with because they stopped putting in any effort) texted me months or years later “hey we should catch up sometime/hang out sometime!” And I reply along the lines of “for sure, what about this week/next weekend/other general time frame?” And then they never reply...because they still wanted me to put it in ALL the effort and literally pitch them specific times and activities unt…

Also means: “you can’t be mad at me if we don’t spend any time together for literal weeks because I said I wanted an independent woman!! Is that not what you are?? I want a woman with her own life and hobbies so she isn’t dependent on me for anything (including the basics of a relationship)!!” The gaslighting is strong with these men.

That whole "men aren't getting appreciation" line really struck a nerve with me. So many men complain about not getting a thank you when they help out around the house. I always come back with "When was the last time you thanked your wife for "helping out"?"

I think men also have trouble "being their own zookeeper", aka, taking care of their own basic needs. Everyone needs forms of enrichment and change in their lives. However, a lot of men never figure out how to provide this for themselves in healthy ways, which include having hobbies, exercising, doing activities to meet new people, going on vacation to new places, even just redecorating your home. When these LVM inevitably get bored with their crappy lives, they blame it on external sources like…

Longer-term, look at patterns. Does the bad behavior keep happening? For a first date, everyone is usually on best behavior anyway. If you see bad behavior, it will generally only get worse. No need to excuse someone being rude or disrespectful toward you.
