During Covid they closed down all the beaches to people not actively exercising. Went to visit my brother who lived on the Chesapeake Bay at the time and we took the boat out to the beach to anchor, party and drink. The cops came and kicked everyone off the beach but many girls on the beach didn't want to leave so they just swam to all the boats. As I said in another comment, I think people dabble in and out of it. Heterosexual women are not gay men and do not partake in hookup culture as a mainstay. They may experiment and test the waters between monogamous relationships or have short term flings on vacation but they are not always looking for some hookup like gay men often do.

I don’t think the predominant culture is either but I do think at least a plurality of girls have a slutty phase in life. So while permanent members of hookup culture are relatively rare (unless you’re a gay dude), women enter and exit the scene. So it’s not really a niche permanent group that does hookups, it’s more like different girls coming and going; in and out of the scene. “Culture” by itself does that but “hookup culture” refers to a specific subset of the population who engages in that. Same for “boating culture” and “pilot culture” or “fashion culture.” I’d argue that “slut culture” peaked with girls like Paris Hilton. Gen Z doesn’t really push that aesthetic and it shows in their pop culture stars like Billie and others who dress less provocatively.

I disagree. It’s absolutely connected. Regardless, classism is a contributing factor as to why sex work is stigmatized. Which is why, by the way, modern intersectional feminism is communist and seeks equality along all lines of oppression.

I never claimed something was solely responsible. But to get rid of the stigma you would have to get rid of every single thing responsible. And part of that is the stigma against jobs that do not require education or intellectual development.
