For some reason I got home from work tonight and decided this was a hill I would die on lol - they can beat us with upvotes maybe, but not with logic!

Because equating strangling and domestic violence with consensual and safe sexual acts reinforces the idea that women aren’t in control of their own sexuality. If it is consensual and harmless it will not cause brain damage. It’s ridiculous to say that, but maybe you’re too stuck in your ways to have this conversation

No they won’t. Feel free to not engage in whatever sexual acts you’re not interested in, but saying that is just spreading misinformation and misogyny.

Are you kidding? Lol I’m an actual scientist and I know that that’s just internalised misogynistic rubbish Edit - I’m getting downvoted even though I literally specialise in medical science?

Which can be done - SAFELY. It is not violent when done correctly between consenting and communicating adults.

It’s ironic how policing women (their freedom, politics, autonomy, finances etc) has always been what we have fought against - however even today there’s internalised misogyny that has women putting other women down/judging them for their sexual choices. If something doesn’t cause harm and is done between two consenting adults, it is not our place to judge.

If consent cannot coexist with power, women cannot consent to anything. What a ridiculous thing to say. Consent IS consent and there is a difference between power and abusing power.

This commenter thinks violent strangulation is the same as the sexual act. In bdsm, choking is where you hold your partners neck at the sides and slightly restrict blood flow to heighten arousal/orgasms (with consent and communication beforehand.) It is NOT the same as restricting someone’s ability to breathe and it is not the same as domestic violence. It can be consensual and it can be a healthy sexual act. If someone strangles you in a DV situation, there is a very high chance that they are c…

I don’t think that acts of BDSM are intrinsically bad, I think that’s ridiculous. I’m not speaking on behalf of myself or my experience, but I do know women that work in the industry and are very sexually liberated and have male submissive clients. It works both ways. The science is unsubstantiated, but there are many people that think that kinks DO stem from trauma - however they are a way of taking that trauma and healing from them, coping with them and being empowered by them by taking that s…

Someone being a lawyer doesn’t make them an expert on BDSM. It is totally okay if you are not interested in rough sexual acts, but this is just outdated kink-shaming

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
