A couple of things. The first is that I have done my biggest growing in my 30's, particularly over the past year (ages 31- now nearly 33). That includes quitting alcohol and vastly improving myself and in turn my marriage. But you have to want it. Also, a quote to help you gain perspective about your husband. Well I can easily see why since they both say red pill. Also I think some don't stick around because like the Matrix they aren't ready to actually confront reality. They are happy being a super special snowflake for now.

So I am not the cook in my family, my wonderful husband is. I enjoy calligraphy so I made notecards for the items being served and place cards for each of the 14 people for Thanksgiving. He is making 2 kinds of mashed potatoes.

As per usual, a wonderful post! Thank you! After getting that book, it was recommended I get another, The Cozy Life: Rediscover the Joy of the Simple Things Through the Danish Concept of Hygge. If I'm not mistaken, I believe you mentioned hygge before right?

This is a wonderful insight, thank you for sharing! I do have a question, though. For a young RPW who wants to get married and stay at home, what's the point in college? Yes, they will work for maybe 3-5 years and then stay at home with the kids. And then maybe about 10-15 years down the line have an opportunity to work again if they want. The only reason why I ask is that you listed no college degree in the part about the higher probability of divorce. Thanks!

I second MeetUp! However, I would be careful a bit. I was naive and went to a wine meetup once. I mean, who doesn't like wine? So. I knew it would be co-ed and I thought me being the happily married self I was would be enough deterrent. Not really. I felt bad after hubs realized it was co-ed. I can see why this would be an unpopular opinion. It paints those families who do choose that with a wide brush stroke. Unfortunately today, it can be hard to survive on one income. I have worked in a pre-school that was open 12 hours a day and have seen a lot of family dynamics. The truth of the matter is, it all depends on what works for the family. I would agree with Junior League and looked into it in my town. What I don't understand (and maybe someone can clear this up) is why I have to pay dues to an organization when what it seems to me the main idea of it is to volunteer. I just don't get it.

While I can see where she is coming from, one lesson I continue to have to work on is not controlling someone else. It's something that I've had to struggle with nearly my entire life. Her article, to me, was well written and I got her point without her being ugly about. it. I get it. No one wants their hubs/SO thinking about another woman just like they don't want us thinking about another man. However, that's your problem, not mine. I'm glad to hear all of you ladies, and gentleman, say that attitude has something to do with it as well. Being a SAHM who homeschools and works from home, there isn't much opportunity to go out into the world and when it is, it's to the grocery store or Target and sometimes it just doesn't seem like there is a point. Add to it that some clothes are just more comfy that I easily fall into the mom look. Any tips on transitioning out of it would be lovely.
