I’d say men on the whole are worse today than previous generations. They’re less capable, less confident, less knowledgeable, less fit, etc.

'll never believe women who claim to be attracted to guys that have ambition or drive simply because there is no real way to evaluate that and even if that wasn't the case it wouldn't mean anything. Sure there is, it's action towards those goals. If you're constantly talking about your "big ideas" but don't do anything with them, that's not ambition or drive, that's just fantasizing.

Isn't this basically what most of the guys on here are asking for? Women who aren't attracted to them to be attracted to them?

I've been with my wife since right after I turned 18, we got married right before college ended when I was 24. I'm really happy I went through college with my wife and that she was with me as we've built our careers. I feel bad for people who didn't build those same relationships, there's a lot of depth you're missing when you date & marry late.

I'd marry V.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/06/23 06:35 PM

Ok, in what way? What does it mean to commodify our social lives, how is it happening, and why is that a bad thing? Your point about people moving away for work isn’t really true either: eighty percent of people live within a hundred miles of home, so people largely aren’t leaving what they know. When we talk about debt load, and particularly student loan debt, it’s clear that the cause of that is government intervention in the market for college education. It’s not hard to extend this line of t…
/r/PurplePillDebate07/06/23 03:01 PM

So women aren’t benefiting from financial independence from men and having their own career paths?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/06/23 02:27 PM

Don’t break an arm jerking yourself off there, your crummy source didn’t even confirm your claim that humans cant do more than 4 hours of quality work in a day, just that office workers tend to fuck off for half the day. In a source that’s half advertisement for a time tracking app. He doesn’t say anything about trades workers or other types of employees. I think you’re a bit of a dumbass dude.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/06/23 01:54 PM

Right but you’re not contradicting my point that it’s a very modern problem. Like it should be really easy for you to prove your point since you clearly feel that you’re right, why not whip out a study and prove your point?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/06/23 01:51 AM

Notice that there’s not really any sources or actual evidence here, it’s just a bunch of stuff that “feels” true.

/r/PurplePillDebate07/06/23 01:48 AM

Yea blame feminism aka women if we blame capitalism men might have something to do with it. Read more closely. Men are the problem, feminism has just given women the independence to disassociate from men. PS don’t you think capitalism benefits from women’s influx into the labor market? And their subsequent consumerism? I think you're conflating terms here. "Capitalism" just means markets. "Benefiting" from a huge influx of labor just depends on whose point of view you're looking from. For men, i…
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/23 10:44 PM

People also haven't suddenly just stop socializing either. It's also been a gradual decline, that has kept pace with the rising cost of living and working hours. I don't think this is true though. Male loneliness in particular is an extremely modern problem. Doesn't make sense to completely negate cost as a factor to people socializing less. It just doesn't strike me as a major factor, because we know that there's always been a cost involved in travel of any sort, but loneliness and isolation is…
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/23 10:37 PM

You're missing my point. These costs didn't just suddenly spring up. People have known that gas costs money and that the bus costs money and that taxis cost money since Henry Ford put together an assembly line. Your explanation simply doesn't fit with history. The increase in loneliness and isolation is an extremely modern phenomenon.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/23 10:28 PM

40 hours is overworking, the average human can’t perform any more than 4 hours of deep work a day. Says whom?
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/23 10:25 PM

When a majority of wealth is concentrated in a few hands, it always has dire effects for society at large. [citation needed]. Vast concentrations of wealth were the norm for ages and the Roman empire lasted for like 1500 years with extremely concentrated wealth. Why do you think that is? Because we went from a labor shortage after World War 2 to a labor surplus. The economy isn't zero-sum, as you seem to be implying.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/23 09:10 PM

So capitalism does value those jobs, perhaps more than the state does. It's not like your school taxes zero out when you send your kids to private school, you still have to pay for the public side too.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/23 09:05 PM

Socializing today requires more money. Even if someone wanted to do something free, often they need to pay transportation costs to get to if it's not close enough to walk to. lol bus fare is not what's causing people to become shut-ins, come on now.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/23 09:04 PM

3 people have as much wealth as the bottom 50% of the country. Those 3 people aren't peasants. Your average person is not substantially richer or poorer than another average person. Bezos's wealth has no bearing on my or your ability to date.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/23 08:54 PM

This dude's blaming capitalism for getting bullied, I mean how much more off the rails can he get here?
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/23 07:40 PM

I think this is too reductive. By what means is capitalism prohibiting people from starting families? If anything we should look to feminism as a far better explanation. Now that women don't need to depend on men financially, many women are choosing not to be committed to them in the first place.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/23 07:15 PM

Right, there's also very little wealth inequality between "peasants" today. You still haven't explained the mechanism causing this problem here either.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/23 06:59 PM

The problem relevant for dating isn't capitalism. The problem is wealth inequality. Dirt farming peasants have gotten married and had families for thousands of years, how is wealth inequality harming this?
/r/PurplePillDebate06/06/23 06:35 PM

I think the real problem is how liberal capitalism or progressive capitalism is making people toxic and atomizing individuals which is ultimately killing traditional culture norms such as courting culture that both men and women benefit from. Ok, by what mechanism? This is total buzzword salad that you're presenting as settled fact. Basically I believe capitalism is not just overworking people and making things harder to afford but also breaking up communities and dividing people up and making t…

People always cook up these weird hypotheticals. But reality is that most people date in their class (more accurately: proximity). There could be a 10/10 working at Safeway but I’ll never run into her because we simply operate in different orbits.

If you're in the 6 figure range then essentially doubling your purchasing power is still a major bump to your lifestyle, surely that's apparent.

The issue is, will she be hot enough or young enough to compete with the other women the men could get, because men don't have an income requirement? Most people marry in their class, so even if men don't say there's an explicit income requirement the reality is that the manager at the engineering firm isn't dating the hot chick working at the sandwich shop in the lobby of the building.

I heard Patrice O'Neal talk about this once on Opie and Anthony. Basically escorts in the US will generally treat you like a dirtbag and not attempt to make any connection at all while developing world escorts will genuinely try to sell you on the experience. He described going to Brazil along the lines of getting treated like Julius Caesar.

I'm a male, I don't really have a specific facial type but I think my wife is beautiful and I tend to like large noses, if I was going to pinpoint a feature I like. Body-wise I prefer short, plus-size women, but only as long as the distribution is even, and apple shapes are right out.

I’m laughing at the tone of the posts in this thread versus the thread right above it about nightclubs in Thailand. Where are the women talking about how wrong it is and how pathetic the men are?

If you wouldn’t date or be with these guys anyway why do you even care what they’re doing? If anything shouldn’t you be glad these losers are ejecting themselves from the dating pool so that you’re not running the risk of being approached by them?
/r/PurplePillDebate06/04/23 02:25 PM

I think you don’t understand what dating is like for men. You’re talking about “genuine desire” but most men rarely/never get that sort of attraction from women. And most relationships start out transactional as well, regardless of whether it’s dinner and drinks in the US or a nightclub in Thailand. But I’m going to guess there are orders of magnitude more posts about awful dates with disinterested women on here than there are about bad experiences picking up women in Thailand, even if you norma…

Differential analysis doesn’t play into the point I’m making, I’m explaining why women who avoid lots of casual sex are valued. Men who abstain from pornography and OnlyFans spending are similarly valued. Again, temperance has been valued for thousands of years.

Good women, of course. The onus has always been on men to improve in all areas of their lives, while women are constantly being told that they're good enough as-is, and that their red flags are actually just male insecurity.

Look at how many men on ppd complaining about the disappearance of a traditional wife? How many of these men do you think are high value? Stay at home moms are more of a middle/lower-class kinda thing, where the cost/time investment of childcare means it makes more sense for her to stay home than to go earn $12/hr at the grocery store.

Most of the OP was complaining about black women and how the average black man can’t measure up. And at the end of the day the stats exist. Hell, the stats are what black women have been complaining about for years. Calling it “racist” is a lazy cop out indicating you’re incapable of producing a good response. What else do you want to call it? My dad went to a Filipina dating website and almost literally picked her out of a catalog. I think you aren’t really prepared to be challenged on any of y…

My question is: what does the average black man actually bring to the table? The stats paint a pretty grim picture of low earnings, high rates of domestic violence, high rates of child abandonment, low rates of marriage, low educational achievement, and so on. You’re blaming black women for being fed up with this but what are average black guys actually providing in the relationship? Heck, what do you bring to the table? They’re obsessed because recently there’s been a lot of societal pressure (example: your post) for guys to just accept these women as if a huge number of previous sexual partners wasn’t a gigantic warning siren for thousands of years. Today, we have our own careers. We graduate university at higher rates than men do. We own property. We pay our own rent. We pay our own bills. Advice is what you need when what you're trying isn't working. People shouldn't be coming on reddit for dating advice, because most of the advice is like what you've written. I’m curious about how this map would look if it had divorce rates among age brackets included. I don’t think the younger generations are getting divorced at the same rate as the older ones are. Of course, that could be totally anecdotal. I don’t think my situation of having parents divorced at a very young age is particularly unique. I'm not missing the point, I don't understand it. I wouldn't tolerate shabby (or worse) treatment as an 18 year old and I wouldn't accept it now. These certainly aren't things that you can only uncover by being with a ton of different people either, like if your boyfriend subscribes to an OnlyFans and you don't like it, that's, what, a 5-minute conversation? What does adding more partners onto that actually change?

Questions of taste aside - and let’s be frank there is far more shocking shit on the internet than this - to me their problem seems to be that the notion of using men as a means of improving their lives mostly boils down to Getting Stuff. Most men don't care all that much about how many fancy degrees you've got or how much you focus on your career. We want intelligent, driven women; but the actual degrees and careers don't matter as much. Are you running in these circles? I'm not going to watch whatever contrived scenario is in the link, but the thread question is something I've borne witness to in real life. I work at an automotive OEM, and started my career sitting next to a young woman in an office that was probably 85% men, and most of the 15% who are women were/are over 40. More than anything it seemed exhausting. No fewer than 5 times a day would she have to endure some thirsty guy's attempts to woo her, some of them would bring gifts or toys to play with a…

We hear it all the time, the list of things men do not care about: you degree, your job, your accomplishments, your stupid girl hobbies, your thoughts and ideas. Isn't it funny how noisy low value men are about what they think high value men want? I've never understood this.

I'm an engineering manager, I married my wife because she was also intelligent, well-read, calm, patient, and very much into me. We dated all through college and got married right before graduation.

My friend group is populated almost exclusively of happy, long-lasting marriages and partnerships. I've got the longest-lasting marriage at 11 years but I'm a little older than most of the guys so that's not too surprising.

The fact that you jump right to how you'll dole out incredible violence when we're talking about your personality problems is very telling. Unfortunately for your wish for me, I've been happily married for over 11 years now. Sounds like you're going to wind up alone though. Enjoy it!
/r/PurplePillDebate03/08/22 03:42 PM

The reality is that if she wound up actually fighting that guy, she'd get absolutely clobbered. The boyfriend was right to immediately deescalate the situation. A lot of women don't seem to realize that social norms are the only things protecting them from getting punched through a wall in these sorts of situations.

In relationship: how you operate finances in relationship? We mix funds, both of our paychecks are direct deposited into the same account (retirement accounts, kids' college funds notwithstanding). How much and how often do you spend money on your partner (on stuff like gifts, dates, vacations)? How much and how often does your partner spend money on you? A few hundred bucks each month, usually on meals and treats. We generally don't wait for the other to spend money on us (seems weird), if we h…

Weird thoughts. Ultimately your past boyfriends would have been better off to avoid you, just by definition. And given the history it sounds like your current one would be better off cutting ties as well but who knows! Maybe you've changed.

You can totally jump right into childcare, literally most of human history has involved exactly that. You cannot, however, just jump into water purification or welding.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/07/22 09:58 PM
1

Good effort at evasion. But this is a copout, of course, industrial jobs are not things that untrained people can simply jump into, and many jobs - pipefitting, welding, logging, etc. - require physical strength that women largely do not possess.

That's an easily solvable problem though, just have guys take turns keeping an eye on the kids. What are women going to do about power generation or clean water if the men refuse to work?
/r/PurplePillDebate29/07/22 06:00 PM
1

Wishful thinking for sure, these women weren’t mining coal or making salts for purifying water. It was basically just an inconvenience.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/07/22 05:48 PM
1

Exactly, women can do cute stuff like this sort of demonstration. If men did it people would die.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/07/22 01:48 PM
1

Sounds like a concession to me! But the examples you point to simply aren't required for society to run in the same way as power generation or water purification are. Women can do those jobs because men make society stable enough.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/07/22 10:59 PM
1

And those women wouldn't be able to have books without men manufacturing and operating the printers (let's not even talk about where the paper comes from), without men manufacturing the writing utensils (and the tools to make the utensils), without men delivering the food to the grocery store that the women pick up for dinner, without men providing the power that allows the women to refrigerate and cook the food, and the thousands of other jobs overwhelmingly performed by men to make society go.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/07/22 09:49 PM
1

You haven’t even attempted to consider women’s contributions to the fields you listed, Because at best they're secondary to what the men provided. Men are overwhelmingly responsible for modern infrastructure. Women simply are not paving roads or building houses in anything other than small numbers.
/r/PurplePillDebate28/07/22 06:16 PM

None of these men would have been able to do any of it without women. What're you referring to, like, them being born or something? In which case those women wouldn't exist without men either. (and men often take the credit for things women do - I don't know who does plumbing in the Midlands and neither do you). This is industrial grade copium, plumbing is overwhelmingly a male profession.

I likely designed the trucks that hauled everything from the lumber for the house to the concrete for the data center to the groceries at the store. But the comparison was the societal burden between the sexes, and it’s clear that men simply provide far more to society than women. Can you not accept that?
/r/PurplePillDebate28/07/22 03:43 PM

This cracks me up. You wrote this on a computer designed by men, using an operating system designed by men, transmitted via internet protocol designed by men, which was routed through a network hub designed, built, and maintained by men, in a house built by men, connected to roads built and maintained by men, plumbed by men, with fresh drinking water provided by men, defended by men, with sewage and garbage services designed and carried out by men, powered through a substation designed and built…

This post is really interesting because of how incompatible it is with reality. Like there’s no way you’ll wind up with, say, the guy making coffee at the coffee shop because he’d never be able to afford things like travel, home ownership, or a nice wedding. So clearly you do value some level of ambition, but, what, you feel bad saying it? Unless your idea of travel is going to the motel down the road and home ownership means a trailer in a trailer park.

About 700 women die during pregnancy annually according to the CDC, the rate is something like 17 out of 100,000 live births (OECD countries are around 8 or 9 so it's not a huge number either way). This is compared to over 5300 on the job deaths (overwhelmingly men) each year.

I can appreciate the idea that you should basically wait until someone obvious crosses your path, as that's essentially what happened to me with my wife. I was freshly 18 and hadn't dated in a couple years but she started working at the same restaurant as me and was obviously interested. So there's definitely situations where it can work out. Reddit as whole, though, seems to trend towards impoverished and mentally ill, and those two wrinkles make it a lot harder for that kind of advice to work.…

Something I didn't see mentioned is that dating advice for men has become incredibly stale, because nobody wants to tell the truth about dating. So you get dudes just being given the same advice of getting haircuts and showering because nobody wants to admit that a pretty good chunk of the male population - and the ones most likely to be posting on an advice subreddit - will never have any luck with women.

Finances make it extremely difficult, I think. My wife and I are spending about $1000/mo on childcare for our youngest in our area, and I'm guessing most urban areas are similarly priced. I hate to blame stuff on boomers, but I remember spending lots of time at my grandma's house as a kid, and she was very involved in our care. The gym advice is ubiquitous. Getting a high earning career should be every man’s A1 priority over everything else. Women might say they like fat guys or dad bods or whatever, I’ve never seen a woman say she preferred poor men to well off men. If you’re in your 30s and you’re not making at least $35-40/hr that’s the biggest thing to change. Money is tied to happiness, health, and longevity.

You can level up or die a loser. This is definitely true, where I think men fall down on reddit is that the dudes who aren't getting dates are the ones giving advice to dudes who aren't getting dates. So it becomes this circular thing where everybody's being told to get haircuts and go to the gym. It's the whole "you ask a fisherman how to catch fish" adage, but redditors are guys standing on the pier watching the fishermen bringing back fish and talking about how they could totally catch more a…

/r/PurplePillDebate04/03/22 11:06 PM

You're not describing most people though. The overwhelming majority of people are capable of feeding themselves, and trying to date when you cannot meet even the most basic of needs is selfish, and shows you've got bad priorities.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/12/20 07:06 PM
1

Just because you're poor in the United States doesn't mean your bad priorities made that happen. This isn't what I'm saying. If you're poor to the point that you cannot meet your basic needs, and you go on to try to date knowing that, you're making bad choices. Women who think that money just falls into the laps of American men need to look up how the wealth is distributed here. Only the top 1 percent can afford even the humblest existence. Oh nonsense, I have a six figure salary and live a perf…

I don't think most of them are begging for food on a regular basis? But again, we're not talking about those guys, we're talking about a guy in the US. That speaks to bad priorities and an unstable life, two qualities that are horrid in a dating partner.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/12/20 06:32 PM
2

If your life is in such dire straits that you literally cannot feed yourself, how can you be a good partner to someone? It's selfish to try and date when you're incapable of meeting your own basic needs.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/12/20 06:26 PM
2

I'm going to challenge that claim, I don't think that most of the world is going hungry. But aside from that, we're not talking about starvation in the developing world, we're talking about a guy living in the richest country in the history of the world whose priorities are so screwed up that he's trying to date when he literally can't even feed himself.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/12/20 06:19 PM

It's down to like 35% as far as I'm aware. The weasel words indicate you don't actually know. Meanwhile marriage rates are at a historical low, for the reasons I mentioned. Marriage rates are low because millenials, on top of being pickier, are putting off marriage to do things like establish careers and go to college. And men to work more hours and make more money. They are also the ones who WANT to do more chores. Single men do less chores than single women too. Women don't divorce for chores. …

I'll use my own marriage as an example for why I think becoming a stepparent first is a bit of a sad circumstance. My wife and I spent 10 years together before we had our first son. During that time, we were able to grow together, fall deeply in love, and spend a long time as each others' top priorities. Someone who becomes a stepparent right away - like my brother-in-law - won't have that part of the relationship, which I think is a shame, because it's really really great. Maybe they get that b…

The 40% statistic is outdated, and it mostly reflects bad baby boomer marriages dissolving. In reality the divorce rate is plummeting, and millenials are more likely than ever to maintain strong marriages when they actually get married. Divorce mostly being initiated by women also ignores the role that men play in women deciding to get divorced. Women, for instance, are still expected to bear most of the burden with regard to housework, even if they're working the same hours as the men. Men repo…

I agree, the friends I've known who've had trouble with women have always had personality flaws that made them unappealing, such as being obsessive with girls they were interested in or being unwilling to make moves to actually date a woman (while whining about the girl dating someone else). Appearance really has little to do with it because, shockingly, most people fall somewhere under the bell curve range of average.
