It’s because the majority of adult women in the US are overweight. Because it’s such a common thing to be fat, men who aren’t attracted to it will be more vocal about their preference. Plenty of men are not attracted to tall women, but we’re relatively rare so men who don’t like tall women don’t have to complain about their dating pool primarily consisting of tall women. They just don’t date a tall woman. Answering here because I’m a woman and OP’s question was for men.

I’d go as low as a 6/10 (for frame of reference i’m probably a 9/10) in terms of looks, but he’d need to be a 9 or 10 in most other areas (personality, income, charisma, intelligence, etc). RMV and SMV are two different things. SMV (which is primarily based on looks) is a big portion of RMV, but other things contribute to RMV as well. I wouldn’t date down in terms of RMV but looks are only one factor.

I think the only issue you listed is youth. You should strive to find someone close to your age. If you’re trying to date a 20 year old and you’re 30+, it’s creepy. I think its totally fine to judge off of partner count, submissiveness, and physical attractiveness. However you better meet the same expectations you’re expecting. If you’re a man whore, don’t expect a virgin. If you’re ugly, don’t expect a goddess. If your poor, don’t expect a rich woman. If you desire a certain trait and don’t hav…

Women’s actions are not about reducing the gap— but making themselves more attractive to HV men compared to other women. Smarter, stronger and more powerful woman compared to another woman is more desirable for a man as long as he is still better than the woman. I don’t fully agree with your premise that most men desire a woman less than themselves. I think they know they can’t get a woman better than themselves so they seek out a woman less than in order to maximize their chance for success. Ev…

Agree. Unfortunately for TRP, their tactics are most adept at attracting women who meet the AWALT stereotype— which creates confirmation bias. Admittedly, if I was a man I’d think it’d be better to be able to attract AWALT stereotypes than being unable to attract anyone. Sadly for them, their strategy fails to find them good women to date which then fuels the bitterness in their community.

In my opinion, a lower RMV than SMV is the reason that there are portions of society that are involuntarily single. This is the reason some portions of both MGTOW and FDS communities are so ticked off about modern dating. When your RMV is relatively lower than your SMV, life and dating will feel unfair.

RMV is different than SMV— though SMV is a large portion of RMV. RMV takes into account things like income potential, agreeableness, communication skills, personality, and much more. For modern women, income is very much part of her RMV. My husband wouldn’t have married me unless I was capable of earning a decent income (if something happened to him, he wanted to ensure his wife was competent enough that his future children wouldn’t grow up in poverty). I’d say for my husband, I bring to the tab…

My husband isn’t super political and he’s even voting Trump in this election. He normally could care less about voting or politics. When he actually started caring about it for this election, I listened to him and his arguments. If it wasn’t for my husband, I can’t say for sure if I’d still be voting Trump. The irrational hate for Trump by my peers definitely affected me for a while.

AWALT really should be MWALT (most women are like that) but is phrased as AWALT in TRP to help prevent men from getting oneitis. The AWALT premise is based on instinctual drives— the drive to secure the best provider possible for your children and good genes for your children. AWALT is exasperated in certain circumstances (such as women with BPD, women who grew up with lots of uncertainty, or who had poor father figures) and the mainstream TRP tactics tend to attract women who fall into AWALT st…

There is a huge difference between societal law and religious law. The Israelites lived in a theocracy so much of the Old Testament laws are societal laws (just like our constitution doesn’t apply to non Americans, their laws don’t apply to us). Nuance is separating which laws are moral / religious laws (e.g. Ten Commandments) from societal laws (e.g. no mixing fabrics— which by the way was due to the fact mixed material fabrics deteriorate faster due to different acidity levels of the fibers). …

Men’s ability to pair bond is absolutely affected by their n-count. It’s just at a slower rate for men than for women. 50+ is extremely high and has absolutely had some kind of negative psychological impact on a man so just be prepared to deal with the consequences.

The hormonal iud stops ovulation and is the most effective form of reversible birth control. Copper iud is hormone free which is probably better for many women— although it does make flow heavier and your period cramps worse so it’s not without its downsides.

She isn’t responsible for ending the marriage if she tells the wife. He was the one who began the process by cheating. His wife needs to know so she can get herself checked for STDs ASAP as more than likely they regularly have sex without condoms since she’d be under the impression he was only sleeping with her. At least OP had the knowledge of the risk to herself of the man she was with sleeping around. Not telling the wife puts her health at risk.

Hate to break it to you, but the above poster is right. You’re bf could be a unicorn but more than likely based on his n-count he’ll either eventually cheat on you or not be able to fully commit to you. You’ve been with him long enough that it doesn’t make sense to break off because of this alone, but you need to proceed with caution. If you want commitment from him, you need a ring ASAP. Men are statistically significantly less likely to propose once the relationship hits the 3 year mark.

Well you can’t confirm it 100% (because reddit is anonymous) but sometimes it’s pretty obvious it’s fake. RP wives also does allow men to comment / post but the mods will remove anything that isn’t beneficial to women and their goals in terms of relationships (aka you can’t tell a woman to sleep with a man on the first date in order to get his commitment since that isn’t in her best interest).

It may be iq related. Although average iq for men and women is the same— men have a greater variance in iq (hypothesized to be due to the varied affects of testosterone in utero on brain development). Which means although there are more male genius’s, there are also more male idiots.

Technically, you’re correct in that this is my alt account— but that because my main is known by a few of my IRL friends and it’d be social suicide to admit I was voting for Trump. Lol yes. It was super common & the reason I broke off the vast majority of dating situations early on. I also waited until marriage so there were many who obviously had a virgin fetish and thus were so highly motivated to get into my pants that they failed to treat me like a human being so I’d end it. For me being a virgin while dating, the pushing for intimacy too early part was also often about kissing. I wasn’t comfortable kissing a man I wasn’t in a relationship with and SOO many tried to ki…

Your step brother needs to file for custody immediately after the birth. A former coworker of mine got screwed over by her ex when he did this to her. He got 50/50 custody and doesn’t ever have to pay child support— started when the baby was 1 month old (time it took from filing immediately after birth to their court date). Reason he got it is there was no established primary care giver at the time that he filed since he filed within 24 hours of his child’s birth.

I don’t think a happy marriage is as rare as winning the lottery. I know multiple happily married couples (including my own parents, my in laws, and both sets of my grandparents) but I don’t know any lottery winners. If you have a terrible personality, then you’ll not be able to land your looksmatch generally. If you’re already high in looks, you can simply date down to compensate for your personality. Most incels are frustrated that they can’t land their looksmatch— and its because of their personality. Also, lower you go in SMV the harder it is to date down to compensate for a personality flaw.

If you have a good personality, you can date above your SMV. If you have a terrible personality, then you’ll not be able to land your looksmatch. If you’re already high in looks, you can simply date down to compensate for your personality. Since incel’s typically aren’t top 10%, dating down for them leaves them with terrible options so they get mad they can’t at least have their looksmatch.

I agree that intimate partner violence is a different kind of struggle for men in that society overlooks it— but that doesn’t change the fact that women are significantly more likely to be hospitalized or murdered by their spouse in a domestic dispute involving violence. The increased likelihood of injury or death is why it’s more dangerous for women. Violence by women should be taken seriously but they are less likely to kill or seriously injure their partners— and their violence is more likely…

That’s why you need to get hot / stay hot yourself if you want to land a decent hot guy. In the US at least it’s not that hard— just don’t be overweight, get toned, learn to do minimal style makeup well, dress well for your body type, take care of your skin (including using sunscreen to delay aging), and take care of your hair. As a woman, that places you in the top 5% easily. If you have a decent personality & can earn a decent living— your RMV will be higher than your SMV so you should be able…

Nah FDS isn’t my thing— it’s way to feminist for me. I’m actually red pilled / tradcon leaning so RPW is more my jam. Common misconception is that RPW women are trying to date TRP men— when we actually just accept basic sociological truths about dating. TRP men are exactly the kind we try to avoid.

Most single men, especially perpetually single men, are trash though. The good ones are typically in stable relationships. The trash ones circulate the dating pool over and over since no one can tolerate them for long. Often, they learn from experience how to masquerade as a decent guy for a while but since it’s not who they are they can’t keep it up for long. I’m happily married to a wonderful man. No, lowering your standards is a terrible idea because then you’ll be resentful of your SO not living up to them. Learn to be happy as a single person and to not compromise/ waist peoples time so that you can be available for the person that does meet your standards. You shouldn’t date someone because they are “good enough” — you should date someone because they excite you. If they don’t then be single instead of making both of you miserable.

1 Pushing for intimacy too early. 2 making sexual jokes / comments around me 3 pushing me to drink alcohol (I’ve never had any— even at 26). Also, drinking alcohol on a date even though I wasn’t drinking would be a yellow flag. 4 trying to take me on dates to potentially unsafe locations too early (e.g. a walk in a park. That sounds like something a beta would tell himself because RPW only want to date alphas. I know plenty of attractive red-pilled women. It’s helped me communicate better— with my husband and in my job. I’m significantly more respected in the workplace because when I say something, I’m listened to. It’s even helped me get a promotion. STFU improves my communication skills and has improved my relationship with my husband. By protecting his ego, I encourage him to be open with me about his thoughts and feelings. STFU is not about not communicating an idea at all, but just making sure you communicate it in a positive manner.

Why avoid it? Committed LTR are massively beneficial for children. If you don’t want them, then I guess it could make sense to avoid— but love is also an amazing feeling so you’d be giving that up. Personally, I would rather be eternally celibate than have sex outside of marriage. In fact, I waited until marriage. I also don’t believe in divorce outside of infidelity or abuse so my husband would have to really screw up for me to leave him.

Yes he does. He gives the best hugs too. It’s like all is right in the world when he hugs me. He also often kisses me on the forehead at the end of a hug. Because of religious / modesty reasons, he’s the only man I’ve ever truly hugged (use the famed side hug with everyone else lol).

Biological drive for monogamy is likely the exclusive access / inheritance of his resources by their children together. Hate to admit it and it’s not all that logical, but I’d be way more livid if my husband cheated and it resulted in a child than if he cheated and there was no child that resulted. Only reason i’d ever divorce rape my husband is if he cheated and got someone pregnant— and doing so wouldn’t be about making him pay for what he’d done, but ensuring that my own children would have t…

Not really. My husband and I didn’t have sex until after we were married. It’s a benefit for sure, but it’s not the point. If sex was the point of our relationship, then logically I should leave him if he becomes unable to have sex.

I’m a tall woman and have been rejected for my height. I’m very thin yet still have curves and have an attractive face so I still have a high SMV. My height is definitely a drawback. Edit to clarify: I’ve never been rejected for my height by a man 6’2 or above. It’s only men that I’m close to in height. Height is a drawback for men my height and shorter.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/10/20 03:39 AM

Overconsumption doesn’t make you taller (everyone in my family are thin as rails as kids and most retain that as adults— we don’t over eat). As long as you’re meeting your nutritional needs you’ll be the height you were meant to be. Fewer childhood illnesses + high nutritional quality food= taller.

It’s even more important to vet a man well when you’re submitting to him because you’re entrusting him with so much more power over your happiness. Really easy to be taken advantage of when you’re looking for a man who can be a leader so your vetting game has to be on point. TRP men are not the ty…

From what I understand, height is genetically much more complicated than say something like blood type. Tall genes in families can be either recessive or dominant. It’s possible that you could have hidden tall genes!

Nah. My husband is a natural leader and charismatic. He didn’t need some strategy to learn how to talk to women nor is he bitter enough that he feels the need to manipulate women. I lean tradcon in relationship dynamics so I follow his lead— because he’s worth following. He’s also monogamy minded so I don’t have to worry about him cheating / spinning plates.

Nah, FDS isn’t that bad. I’m red pilled and enjoy traditional relationship dynamics so FDS isn’t my thing. Every woman on reddit should be part of either a red pill woman sub (red pill wives is better because apparently red pill woman has been taken over by male mods) if they’re more traditional or FDS if they’re feminists. FDS is a good strategy for the modern woman. Vetting men is absolutely necessary and casual sex is a terrible thing for your psyche / self esteem. Best to avoid sleeping with…

My great-great grandfather was short. He married my great-great grandmother who was 5 inches taller than him at 5’8 (really tall back then). All of their descendants besides my older sister have been tall— including myself. I’m 5’10 which is tall for a woman.

No most red pill women wouldn’t touch a TRP man with a 10 ft pole. I’m red pilled & I sure wouldn’t. Luckily I’m happily married so don’t have to worry about accidentally dating one.

Also, a lot of men like you probably only want to marry virgins because you’re so bad in bed that you don’t want your wives to know how bad sex with you actually is.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/10/20 11:39 PM

But when a man puts virginity on a pedestal— once you’re married and lose your virginity to your husband he values you less than when you were a virgin and dating. I had to be careful to avoid men with a virginity fetish like you while I was dating.

I waited until marriage & wouldn’t have married a man with this kind of attitude. A woman’s worth isn’t determined by her past. Everyone makes mistakes. I just happened to luck out in learning from a young age how to vet men in order to avoid men like you!

Cheating is one of the worst things you can do to another human being. Never excusable even if it’s to get back at a person who cheated on you. If someone cheats on you, you leave. End of story.

A lie is not an equivalent. Anyone who cheats is way worse than anyone who lies about their n count (Btw men are more likely to lie in both directions than women are). Both are bad, cheating is just way worse. Cheating is the ultimate betrayal. Think of cheating like murder and lying like assault. Someone doesn’t deserve to be murdered in cold blood because they assaulted someone.

Not true. Women will date down if you’re charismatic and have a good personality. Source: I make more money, am 5 years younger, and am more attractive than my husband (I’m probably a 9 and he’s an 8 just based on looks alone). He’s very charismatic and is a natural alpha while still being a nice guy which bumps him up to a 10. I literally don’t have eyes for anyone else— he’s got me wrapped around his fingers.

In my opinion, FDS is a good thing for modern women. Women who use FDS end up in happy non-abusive relationships. Type of men who think FDS is bad, have pretty much zero chance of making it past a few dates. It shouldn’t be controversial at all. Its only controversial to the people who feel gipped by it as they are the type of person women are trying to weed out. So the men and women who cannot inspire attraction in the opposite gender should stick with each other. Men cannot expect to land a woman who turns them on if they cannot turn a woman on themselves— same goes for women. Level up your appearance as you attract more flys with honey than vinegar.

That’s not how that works... at least for us women, you can’t just make yourself attracted to someone. Saying that women want a man with money implies their looking for a wealthy man not that they have a minimum standard that a man be a functioning member of society. Women with high n-count are more likely to cheat compared to low n-count women. While high n-count men are more likely to cheat than low n-count men— the difference isn’t as great as it is for women. Men are more likely to cheat on average though— however some data on Gen Z suggests that might be changing (e.g. Gen z women might be more likely to cheat than Gen Z men) but they aren’t really old enough to get a holistic picture on that generations proclivity to cheat. It has nothing to do with a male provider. Women just have better coping mechanisms (like a support network). I go by my husbands last name socially but have not legally changed it yet. Been married almost 2 years. AWALT = all women are like that (TRP uses this all the time) YWWLT= your woman was like that (you’ll sometimes see it on this sub, but it’s more rare than AWALT) I think 20-30% is probably reasonable assumption of the percentage of TRP men with autism in the community— however I think the more active users are more likely to be on the spectrum which would throw off the content creation percentages more towards the spectrum.

I only like tall men because I myself am tall. If I was short, height wouldn’t matter very much. On average, I’m attracted to my height to about 5 inches taller. I don’t have an issue with it. I have no issue with gold diggers— especially those that are honest with themselves about what they want. It makes total sense to try and land the best possible spouse you can. There is more to a good spouse than just money though— so it only becomes and issue when you focus too much on that one area and ultimately the woman is harming herself because it will lead to a failed relationship or at the very least one that lacks emotional fulfillment. Branch swinging on…

Courts are getting much more fair. If you’re the man and the primary caretaker, you’ll get custody. However, most families follow more traditional gender roles where the woman is the primary caretaker. When the family breaks up, then the one who was the primary caretaker ends up being the one to get custody. It’s not based on gender, rather familial roles (caretaker vs financial provider). I don’t particularly agree with that. I think that custody shouldn’t be based on an arrangement made when y…

It’s only disrespectful if she is currently sleeping with someone else while stringing the “boyfriend material” along making him wait. If she decided to make everyone wait going forward then it’s not disrespectful— even if she didn’t make everyone wait in the past. I was using the strategies similar to FDS from the time I began dating and ended up getting married fairly young. I also purposefully avoided dating apps though I’m sure over the past 5 years or so (been married for 2 & dated my husband for 3) they’ve become harder to avoid using.

For me it was date 4-5. However, I avoided online dating so I always met people organically. I think it’s be longer if you had never met them before your first date; maybe 7-8 dates in that case. My husband asked for us to be exclusive on our 4th date :)

PCOS makes it extremely difficult to lose weight— which she mentioned she had before. Proper diet and exercise will typically only slow weight gain for a woman with PCOS & it might stabilize her weight. Getting to a normal BMI is practically impossible.

I got married young so my net worth and my husbands is intrinsically intertwined. We also live in a community property state. Our net worth is around $80k — I’m 26 & he is 31. Once we hit $150k net worth, one of us will retire early to be a stay at home parent. Most likely will end up being him because my career path is very lucrative & he has a business idea he’s always wanted to work on. I disagree. I used a similar strategy to FDS while dating— which my parents taught me. I’m happily married. FDS also teaches that you need to level up yourself in order to land a a HVM (but they see HV as being behavioral rather than looks based like for TRP, physical attraction is a separate thing from HV but still a requirement for a relationship). It’s not really my thing because I’ve been married for 2 years and the sub is newer than that. If your dating profile says relationships only & a m…

Depends on where you live. In my state, standard possession schedule is essentially every other weekend with a few extended periods thrown in (70/30 parenting time split). Only way you get 50/50 is if your ex agrees to it. Way the law is written, if parents can’t agree on how to split custody then the standard possession schedule will be used.

You can’t smell something that’s only been worn 2-3 times. The only things that should be washed after every use are gym clothes or if it was heavily sweated in (like being outside in the summer) or if something was spilled on it or if you were around strong odors for a prolonged time. It’s the environmentally friendly thing to do.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/09/20 04:00 AM

I’m a woman and agree. As long as the man wants 50/50 instead of every other weekend, then 50/50 should be the default custody arrangement. Even former SAHM have to go back to work after a divorce, so makes sense to split child time 50/50 after that.

I value confidence above any other trait & approaching someone (I refused to do online dating) takes guts— so coincidentally I had no interest in asking a man out. Yes, it’s an image thing. Most of my close friends have admitted to doing the same. We complain to each other that we just wore x and so-n-so will be at the next thing so they can’t re-wear it. Re-wearing an outfit goes beyond just the next day. If I only see someone once every few months, I make sure to not wear the same outfit that I wore last time I saw them. It being better for the environment is exactly why I do that!
/r/PurplePillDebate25/09/20 02:06 PM

Believe me, a lot of us secretly do. We just don’t wear the same outfit twice in a row in front of the same people. Unless I spill something on a piece of clothing or something, I hang it back up to be worn again later. Generally, I’ll wear something 2-3 times before I wash it.

I agree that is a good idea. You’re also correct that prenups aren’t thrown out all that often— though it does vary by state (some are less likely to throw it out than others). State law is essentially everyone’s prenup & designed for 80% of cases, so if you have assets or a high income you need to customize your prenup.

I’d be curious as well. You could separate the questions from gender to give everyone the same survey & collect demographic data at the beginning (gender, sexual orientation, gender of current partner, if they currently have a partner, etc) Edit to add: current income would also be important. $1m to a multi millionaire isn’t a lot. $1m to someone who lives on $20/k a year is way more eye watering than for someone who makes $200k a year so income will have an effect on the answers.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/09/20 02:03 AM

The value isn’t in the initial question, it’s in their answer to the qualifiers. If the extra $1m meant her man had to go from working 40 hrs a week to 80– and she didn’t get to see him as often and therefore wouldn’t want that then she isn’t all that hypergamous because she values time with him. If she’s willing to tolerate a side chick if it means her man had the extra $1m then she probably is rather hypergamous. A good survey would have a list of at least 10 different qualifiers that get prog…

I never said anything about n count. All else equal (including n count), a woman close to your age is better than a woman younger. It’s easier to find low n count women close to your age when you’re younger, ergo better to establish a long term relationship then. I’d say the tradcon advice is also very good for men. Waiting until your 30s is not a good idea, just not as bad as it is for women. More like my husband gets access to my money and vice versa. I earn more than him. I see all income earned as equally both of ours. We have the exact same personal spending amount budgeted for both of us. We each get to spend that on whatever we want. Everything else is budgeted for joint goals — like paying down our mortgage, increasing savings, saving for a large purchase we both want (e.g. new tv).

Men who say those kind of things just can’t vet for emotional stability & thus think AWALT. Lol no that’s not true at all. Dressing badly is a HUGE turnoff. No one talks about how hot movie stars are in roles where they dressed like homeless men. Dressing well is very important — why do you think all the Hollywood celebrities dress well and hire stylists? If you’re primary RMV feature is your youth and beauty, and you want a life long marriage, then you’ll want to marry a man close in age. Women live longer than men. Marrying a man 10-15 years older is a good way to spend the last 20 years of your life single & competing with much younger women for a small pool of men when your primary value has diminished. Marrying someone close to your age maximizes your returns on the emotional investment in the marriage.

I’m not saying that older women have a higher RMV, but of the same age cohort of women the ones with high RMV tend to be in a relationship with a HVM that they’ll marry by the time they are 26. Women with a high RMV are more likely to date & marry men closer to their age. Edit to add: this is because HV women are unlikely to date much older men. Sure, a HV man could land a much younger woman if he wanted but it’s a poor exchange for him because that woman is unlikely to be HV herself except in looks. She likely has underlying issues that will lead to a breakdown in the relationship.

Since young men are more likely to die in fights before they have a chance to have children; while the most dangerous thing for women is child birth — and in a more settled society a baby whose mother didn’t survive birth is more likely to survive. This could have also contributed to the gender disparity in prehistoric times— more babies surviving despite their mothers death at birth. If the baby was female, she’d pass on her matrilin…

Perhaps. I started to feel ready for marriage / dating seriously for marriage at 21. For my husband that age was 23. We got married when I was 24 & he was 27– so we actually have a slight age gap but still what would be considered normal. We also bought a house 3 months after our wedding (we eloped and used the money we had for a down payment instead of having a traditional wedding— we did however have a cookout at my parents house with friends and family to celebrate). I will say with your care…

So for me & most of my friends, we can only ever be interested in one man at a time— everyone else is friend zoned. I’m happily married & my husband is the only one who occupies that spot in my mind and has been since our first date. When I was dating, I’d only date one man at a time even if it wasn’t exclusive yet— that was just how my brain worked. If he didn’t ask for commitment by end of date 5, I knew I had to move on or risk waisting more time with someone afraid of commitment since I coul…

For the most part. I read a short passage in my Bible 2-3 times a week & pray most days. I do lean tradcon in some ways, but not in others. I dress modestly. I also prefer a more traditional relationship dynamic where the man takes on more of the primary leadership role— I see it as him being the CEO, but I’m the CMO, COO, & CFO (since I’m better than money & budgeting) and he relies on my input pretty heavily before making any decisions for our family. Politically, I’m a moderate (so I will vot…

Yes, I agree the education cost in the US is ridiculous. On top of that, student debt is not dischargeable in bankruptcy & can have exorbitant interest rates (some as high as 11%— for context my mortgage is at 3.2% interest). Most people don’t understand that paying more on the principal would reduce their overall burden of what they’d pay towards student debt & instead just make the minimum payments. Both major political parties agree there needs to be reform but they can’t agree on how to do i…

I absolutely did not prioritize his happiness as number one prior to getting married. It was important to me, of course, while we were dating but maybe number 4-5 on my list of priorities rather than number 1. Before marriage, my priority was myself. Engagement was the start of that shift but the wedding day was the big one. It’s not exhausting to put someone else first when they are putting you first. It was not an elite / ivy school, but still a top 50 business school in the US (it’s probably in the top 100 globally if I had to guess but idk where it’s ranking would fall exactly). If you can’t trust a person enough to be legally entangled with them, you definitely shouldn’t be marrying them and probably shouldn’t be in a LTR with them. Mutual trust is the foundation of a good marriage. Think of marriage as being akin to official adoption of kids in foster care. The kids were for the most part already living with their adoptive parents— yet the legal process of making those kids the official kids of the parents has a huge emotional component. It’s the same with marriage. O…

Feminism is supposed to be that I guess but it can be pretty toxic as well. From what I’ve seen with my friends, it’s more an internalized thing that they have to prove to themselves they are independent & “cool” so they convince themselves that marriage is bad or keeping women down but then realize later they really want it. It’s all about mind set & focus. If you believe something is possible, then you’ll be able to work towards it. If you think something is impossible, you won’t take the necessary steps to get yourself there. Once you believe your goals are possible, make a plan for getting there. You also have to be willing to make sacrifices. For example, you want to be a millionaire by the time your 60? If you invested $2,000 today and then $500/month for the next 30 years, you’ll likely end up a millionaire fr…

My advice would vary based on if you never want to get married vs not being ready for marriage yet. Most women want to get married eventually. There are very few who are ok, at least long term, with being the forever girlfriend. Eventually many women who say they don’t need to get married will have that desire which will create strife. If you have no interest in marriage ever, it’s probably best to stay out of LTR.

Women who are more promiscuous, are gold diggers, have serious insecurities, have daddy issues, or have significant mental health issues are more likely to date older men. I assume these are traits that no man wants in a spouse. Statistically speaking, it’s well documented that women tend to marry men close in age to themselves. The divorce rate also goes up the larger the age gap. Since being financially healthy is important to you— my advice is to vet any woman you date to make sure her financ…

Just going to point out— most HV women are off the market by 26 (aka either already married or in the relationships that will eventually lead to marriage). Women, especially HV ones, prefer to date men close to their age. Waiting until 35-40 will hamper your chances of finding a good spouse. Additionally, after college most HV women will expect for a relationship to have lead to marriage by year 3.

Happy wife happy life is true for a man. However, happy husband happy life is also true for a woman. If you both prioritize the others happiness, it’s going to create a healthy relationship. In a marriage, any income earned is equally the husband and wife’s. All of our income goes into a joint account. I contribute significantly to our household accounts as I have an excellent income though. I think going into a marriage viewing it as his money and your money — instead of joint money— will long term be damaging. Personally, I would not wear a promise ring on my left hand— only wear it on my right. The left hand for me is for engagement/ wedding ring only. Nothing wrong with symbolizing your commitment with jewelry ahead of engagement— my husband bought me a diamond and emerald cross necklace for this back before we were engaged. Bezos was supported in another way: he got a valuable / smart / Princeton educated employee for practically free through his wife. You’re getting hung up on one type of support: financial. Debt increases stress. Money fights are one of the leading causes of divorce. Too many people are busy racking up credit card bills to ever care enough to get themselves out of debt. Not only do I make more than him, my family is wealthy so I’ll be inheriting a significant sum eventually (like the kind of sum that means we could both immediately retire & not work— just live off of the dividends). He benefited way more than I did from marriage when it comes to wealth (though inheritances have special protections so he technically wouldn’t be able to touch it if he divorced me unless the assets were comingled with…

I don’t think OP is advocating getting married after only 6 months. Just that if you aren’t “in love” by 6 months, end it because you’re waisting your time and the other persons time.

Yeah. I feel bad for her. She definitely leans toward tradcon so she won’t be happy without a ring on her finger. However, my brother-in-law would be out of her league (in looks, income, and education) if he didn’t have a kid and may still be out of her league so I just don’t see him going all the way in terms of commitment. Especially since he spent $70k in legal fees on his divorce in order to get primary custody. I don’t think he would want to risk going through that again.

She jokes that she’ll get the benefits of grandkids without the hassle of raising your own kids LOL

A glut in a specific job skill (e.g. if there were tons of engineers) will put downward pressure on wages for those roles. Fewer people willing and able to work a type of role at a specified wage will put upward pressure on wages for that role as companies who need that role will compete with each other to hire for it. If we have a more educated workforce that is higher skilled on average, it will result in the wages for the lower skilled workers rising as well because their are fewer people ava…

That’s not how the labor market or the economy works. Half the workforce isn’t doomed to always work sub $30k/yr jobs. The labor market is an interaction of supply and demand on the macro level. A higher skilled labor force on average would lead to a higher median salary. Education is the primary driver of generating higher skilled labor— which is why college educated people over 25 have a median salary of $65k/yr. My mom has a masters in mathematics and a masters in statistics. She makes maybe …

I never said no older people worked those jobs— I said they statistically are staffed by younger people or people working part time. Edit to add: my mom’s dad (an engineer) literally spent the last 15 years of his career working at Sear’s because he refused to learn how to use a computer back in the 80’s. I get that lots of older people are put out of a job by changing technology. Doesn’t change the fact that younger people & part time workers make up most of $30k/yr jobs

I’m a millennial & pretty sure my generation just has more rotten apples than normal for a generation. Gen Z is definitely smarter on average than my age cohorts were at their age in many ways. Sure, you put incremental trust in your partner to build an emotional connection. FDS preaches to be conservative with your giving & weary of it until commitment. They specifically say to never put in more effort than the man (which is a good strategy given men are the gatekeepers of commitment). They aren’t saying to be a cold emotionless rock until he asks you to be his girlfriend— just to use reason and logic to balance out your desire to give until commitment has been obtained.

If the woman is worth it, yes. Until there is commitment, it’s important as a woman to guard her heart. Heart break makes it harder to fully trust and commit to your future spouse. Men are the gatekeepers of commitment; if a woman withholds giving in a relationship until a man commits, its indicative that she is less likely to cheat on him in a LTR. Just a correction on the analogy: Unemployment = actively searching for a job Exiting the labor force= sitting with their parents not working. You do understand that everyone sins, right? That doesn’t change the fact that traditional conservative women are generally taught that withholding sex from the man they are married to is sinful without a legitimate reason to do so (childbirth, medical condition, suspected infidelity, etc). Unmarried kids are taught that. Since premarital sex is sinful. Things change once you get married. Have you ever been to a married Christian women’s conference? Believe me, this narrative is pushed. Older women whose husbands are in leadership positions in the church also will have a 1:1 talk with a newlywed bride about this— I’ve been there it’s SOO awkward (literally the no sex before marriage talks were less awkward).

Christian women are taught it’s sinful to withhold from your husband unless there is a legitimate reason (e.g. a serious medical condition like having recently given birth). It’s especially frowned upon to use sex as a bargaining chip or to manipulate. A wife who does this & her husband goes to a church leader about his frustrations, will have a talking to by the women leaders (typically the wives of the pastors & deacons) about failing in their wifely duties. Wives are encouraged to try and mat…

But I’ve never seen a relationship work out where the woman pursued the man. It just doesn’t seem advantageous to women to do any pursuing. Where in the world did you read that 60% of women refuse to date a man under 6’? Now I could see 60% of single women describing their ideal partner as over 6’ but that’s like made up fantasyland stuff.

I’ve never once in my life been attracted to a man based on his looks alone. Not even celebrities / male models / etc. Closest thing might be my husband— first time we locked eyes, he had been reading his bible at church and looked up from it in my direction. He’s literally the only man I’m attracted to physically. Thought of ever being with anyone else literally makes me want to puke. It’s my husband or a life of chastity for me. I’d not heard this term “demisexual” before but it sounds like I …

Happily married (26f). I personally don’t know any woman that married someone they weren’t attracted to. I think the likelihood of this probably goes up with age. If they’re wanting kids: less than 1% before 25, 2% age 25-27, 5-10% 27-30, 20% 30-32, 30% 32-34, 40% 36+ If they aren’t wanting kids, I highly doubt it’d ever get above 5%

His lawyer hounded the judge about it. Brought it up 4-5 times in the emergency custody hearing since she had drained a significant sum— I think it was over $20k in total.

Yeah my husband only had a small amount a debt. It was paid off in like under 6 months. He’d already been working towards paying it off before we got married. I do agree that debt is an epidemic in this country. I just don’t feel it’s appropriate for me to judge given the background I come from.

Maybe since you’re not insecure about money makes sense that might be easier women from wealthier families to date you than the average guy. Guys would find out my family was wealthy pretty quickly given i would go home to get my laundry done, food prepared, and ride my horse on weekends. They’d look at what my father provided and think “I’ll never be able to provide her this standard of living that her father provides.” Personally, back when I was single I wouldn’t have minded dating someone wh…

Yep you’re totally right. But the Old Testament is important too & most people don’t realize the difference between religious law and societal law.

Sure that would be ideal, but most people these days have student debt or a car payment. Edit to add: I had wealthy parents ergo no debt. If I’d been from the typical middle class family, I probably would’ve had debt.

Was the husband in the second example working though? How long were the couples married? Does the stepchild primarily live in that household or with their other parent? Can they afford to pay for college without serious hardship (paying for college is encouraged by Dave Ramsey only if you can afford it and have no other debt)? There is a lot that goes into that advice than just the genders.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/08/20 04:14 PM

Umm he says to treat debt in a marriage as equal. So he tells women to pay off their husbands debt too. He specifically says to not pay off anyone else’s debt until you’re married. He’ll advise people to keep it in a savings account to wait to pay it off until after the wedding if you currently have the means to help. I make more than my husband & came from a wealthy family so I didn’t bring any debt into marriage. I’ve helped pay off my husbands debts following his advice. 🤷🏻‍♀️

A few examples of Old Testament societal laws that aren’t applicable today: No mixing materials in the same piece of cloth. Reason: when two materials are mixed, it causes that cloth to deteriorate faster due to the different acidity levels. So in a pre-industrial near subsistence society this is extremely wasteful. Technically, it’s wasteful even today, so if you want to buy truly eco friendly clothing— don’t buy mixed material clothing. No eating pork. Pigs carry a lot of parasites that are ea…

They encourage men to lead the family. However, today’s society generally requires a duel earning household to support a family so that means that even amongst the more traditional members, women still need at least parts of feminism (like equal pay). “Submitting” to your husband doesn’t mean being a doormat, it means respecting him. Generally, men feel loved when they are respected, while women feel loved when they’re provided for / listened to. You got to remember that the Bible needs to be ta…

Personally, my boundary was no kissing till exclusivity. I didn’t kiss my husband until the night he asked me to be his girlfriend. I also have one friend whose first kiss was at her wedding. It really depends on the woman. Edit to add: I told him on our first date that I wasn’t ready for physical intimacy beyond a hug at the end and maybe holding hands until I was in a relationship.

It’s not the insecurity itself that is toxic— it’s how it affects your ability to interact with someone else that makes it toxic. You can have insecurities without being a toxic person.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/08/20 02:14 AM

If a woman’s insecurities are affecting how she treats you, you should run. Insecurity can create toxicity in any relationship. You don’t have to tolerate abuse simply because it originates from an insecurity.

My BIL’s ex drained their joint account too. She got temporary custody originally. The judge subtracted half of the amount she took from their account from his child support obligation so he had a delayed start of a few months before he had to start paying. My husbands parents & we all helped him out financially during the divorce / custody battle. They also had a house with significant equity that he was able to use half of the proceeds to help pay legal bills. He’s still probably $20k in debt …

Umm, yeah your ex wife sounds worse than my BIL’s ex. How did you not get custody?? She was just interfering with his custody time— one example is taking their son to the ER a few hours before custody exchanges when he had a slight belly ache & claiming he was too sick to go to his dads since he had the “stomach flu”. No drug issues or child endangerment on her part. She’s not a bad mom, she is just incapable of coparenting.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/20 05:53 PM

They do week on / week off. She’s required to do court ordered therapy sessions to maintain the 50/50 custody— therapist has to decide to release her before she can stop as if she quits on her own she loses the 50/50. So I guess it’s a more unique situation. Still surprised he actually managed to win custodial custody in court.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/20 03:15 PM

That’s odd that you still have to pay support. In Texas, my BIL won custodial custody of his son. He and his ex have 50/50 physical custody but she doesn’t have to pay him child support. She originally had primary but got caught up in parental alienation tactics so she lost primary and had to go from having her son 70% of the time to 50%. At least my BIL doesn’t have to pay child support anymore.

Preferences are just trends of who someone is attracted to. For me, height wasn’t a requirement— attraction was. I guess it’s possible I could be attracted to a guy whose 5’7 but it is simply highly unlikely. Back when I was single, if I found a man attractive I would have given him a chance regardless of his height.

Texas subtracts the amount the non custodial parent pays towards medical and dental from the child support obligation, so if the kid has expensive medical insurance / medical care then that might eat up nearly the entire child support obligation. Edit to add: in Texas you’re still required to pay 20% of your net resources towards the maintenance of the child. For someone on the lower end income wise, 95%+ of their child support obligation might end up going towards health insurance and medical c…

Caring about n-counts stemming from insecurity makes total sense. When a man is insecure in a relationship, it often results in a borderline emotionally abusive (if not full blown abuse) relationship. Hence the higher divorce rate for higher n-count women & women typically being the ones to leave those relationships. My family is rather well off— not Uber rich 1%ers but still millionaires. I tried dating a few guys from working class families in college & they inevitably became super insecure ab…

My experience irl matches yours. My shorter friends don’t have too much of a height preference. As a tall woman, I have always preferred men 2+ inches taller; which ends up mostly being guys over 6’ft. A bulkier built 5’10-5’11 man is still attractive but rarely. Being tall seems to attract tall guys though. My husband is over 6’ and one of the things that attracted him to me was my height. He has always had a preference for women within 6 inches of his own height.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/08/20 09:04 PM

Nothing wrong with a height preference. Now if someone is interested and then finds out your 1cm under 6 ft & decides they’re suddenly not interested solely on that— then that is ridiculous. Women are naturally attracted to men bigger than they are— taller and/or bulkier frame. This is instinctive. As a tall women, when I walk down the street with my brother (whose shorter than me by a few inches & he’s lanky), I still get cat called. When I’m walking with a man whose tall & had some bulk— like …

Is equity a necessity? Isn’t equality more important? Equality of opportunity and treatment before the law > equity of outcomes I get measures to correct inequality/discrimination, but why do you need to create equity? Let’s set aside purely religious reasoning. I agree with that bible doesn’t outright prohibit it, but I also think it’s not a good idea to engage in polygamy as a Christian unless it’s the societal norm in your culture. Just look at how the fundamentalist Mormons (polygamist Mormons) are perceived by society compared to the mainstream Mormons today. To engage in widespread polygamy as Christians in our western society, could impede others in their willingness to hear the gospel. Living above rep…

Definitely agree. Freshman year of college I was terrible at hiding it. I made some pretty insensitive comments — not understanding that most people didn’t even have close to what I grew up with. I literally got into an argument about $100-200k/yr not being that high of a salary — not realizing that that’s technically upper middle class 🤦🏻‍♀️ I grew up in quite the bubble so college was very eye opening for me. Sure, i agree that it’s very individual as to where that threshold falls. Averages are made up of the sum of individual preferences— many people would get no additional happiness beyond a relatively low salary, while others may continue to get additional happiness from a higher salary. I also think women are more hypergamous on average because men are more willing to marry down than up. Before my husband, men I dated were uncomfortable with my families wealth; they were intimidated by it. They’d…

I’m a tall female & I have to agree on the subconscious protection instincts. Closer a man was to my height the bulkier frame b he had to have for me to find him attractive. If he was shorter than me, it’d be rare for me to find him attractive. Happily married now & my husband definitely makes me feel physically protected— even though he’s only 2 inches taller, he’d got a bulkier frame that can be imposing if he needs it to be. Money is only an issue if you lack it. I technically married down— my parents are wealthy & my husband is from an upper middle class family. Well I met my husband in college so the men I dated had a little more exposure to my family wealth than if I’d been dating as an independent adult. When you’re silent about student loans since your parents are paying cash for your college (most college kids complain about it), you drive a nice car (not a Ferrari or anything though), go on vacations to Europe, and your hobby is horseback riding — it’s kind of hard for them not to pick up on your wealth. Most men are not secure enough in their masculinity or in themselves to date a woman whose means are greater than their own. As a woman who was raised by wealthy parents, when I dated down it never worked out well. They’d look at me and think “I can never provide for her or our children at the same level her father provided for her” so they’d become resentful & it’d ultimately destroy the relationship. Women can date up, because it doesn’t threaten the mans masculinity & may even make him feel m…

When I was dating, I had issues dating down due to them being insecure. They’d look at what my father provided and think “I can never provide for her or our children like that”. Which led them to resent me and my family. Dating down is fine if someone can handle it, but most men probably can’t. Which is probably why hypergamy is still generally on the part of women.

I’m from a similar background (my parents are millionaires but not Uber wealthy). Struggled with this while dating as well & now happily married. Don’t date down more than one level so to speak. If a man wasn’t at least raised upper middle class, he’s probably not the one. Most men will see what your father provided for you and think “I’ll never be able to take care of her like that or our kids like that.” Which can cause resentment towards you and your family.

To be honest, most of my life I saw myself doing a huge expensive wedding. Then I fell in love & just wanted what’s best for us and to build a life together. Part of that, was realizing the financially responsible thing was to not have an expensive wedding. It was actually my idea to go the inexpensive wedding route when we started discussing finances & I realized that we could buy a house if we skimped on the wedding. My husband was shocked but pleasantly surprised at that suggestion. 2 years i…

I (25F) never used online dating. I avoided dating apps on purpose. Met my husband (31M) at a church event. You should go to events or Sunday school classes at your church & other churches in your denomination. Rotate through different churches. $30k on a wedding is insane. If you’re wanting a nice wedding, you can probably get away with $15k & for a decent wedding $10k. As a Christian, you’re supposed to follow the laws of the land unless they directly prohibit you from worshipping Him. You don’t need multiple wives to worship God (you don’t even need one wife to do so). Polygamy is illegal in most countries, ergo sinful. Also, as a Christian your supposed to live above reproach so as to set an example that could lead others to Him. Umm... a woman definitely can and should divorce her husband if he’s truly terrible (cheating, abuse, etc) Also my version of the Bible uses “divorce” instead of “separate” in 1 corinthians 7:10. A man cheating can literally kill a woman. 95% of cervical cancer is caused by HPV, a common STD— which is generally completely asymptomatic in men (men can also get genital warts, but the strains that cause cervical cancer don’t generally cause warts).
