Even for this hypothetical car it's not the # of owners that depreciates the asset it's the mileage. A car that drives 10,000 km a year for 10 years is worth the same irrespective of whether it has had 5 or 50 owners.

Mint OG Jordans are a collectors item ( some more than others obviously). I chose Jordan's because they fit with the shoe analogy and collectors do routinely pay far over retail pricing for a pair. The number if owners also doesn't impact their appreciation. If you want other examples that aren't based on collectibles, art or antiques - look at housing. That isn't basic economics. The number of previous owners doesn't necessarily affect the value of a product. A pair of mint OG Jordans will continue to appreciate in value irrespective of the number of owners until demand within the market changes. The actual value of the product is determined by what people are willing to pay for it, not by any inherent value - you could spend 100 hours making something but if no-one is willing to pay for it then it's worthless.
